Fantastic for supper and a great chilling out session
Spize is the perfect place for a supper session. In fact, the Spize at Simpang Bedok ranks number one on my list of supper places to go to. I like the "alfresco" feel you get from sitting outside, enjoying the cool evening (midnight) breeze and catching up with some old friends over a cup of teh tarik.
Spize, however, isn't like the usual prata supper places. The food and drinks at Spize are more expensive, for one, and definitely not value for money. I used to love the fried chicken burger, but not anymore after they raised the price from $5.50 to $7. The chicken burger is big enough to keep you full, but I didn't like the idea of paying $7 just for a burger (and some fries).
Spize also has a delivery service. I tried calling for Spize delivery once before, but the line was always busy which seemed pretty dubious to me since they were almost never busy with deliveries. Everytime I personally visited the Spize at Simpang, the delivery guys were always just sitting around chatting and joking, and the van was always parked at the same lot... So it didn't seem very possible to me that they were busy with deliveries; I would guess they were probably just skiving.

Great supper spot
Spize is one of the few places in Singapore to you can go to at 2am in the morning to satisfy your Malay/Indian food craving. Although it is a little more expensive than most supper alternatives like porridge or dim sum, Spize maintains a superb standard across both its branches at River Valley and Simpang Bedok.
Nasi Goreng Pattaya (Fried Rice wrapped in egg) is my weakness. For $6.80 it comes with a generous portion of fried rice with chicken and prawns wrapped in egg. I will always order my favourite drink; Ice Tea-O Limau, which is a cold refreshing tea without milk and with lime added, guaranteed to quench your thirst. The cheese fries are something to die for and is a must order! It comes in a pretty huge portion and can be shared between 2 - 4 people depending on how hungry you are. Spize is pretty popular for their roti prata too which comes in many variations like Kosong, Egg, Plaster and Prata Bomb just to name a few. Fast service and a large menu, Spize is still one of my preferred supper destination.
Hangout before or after clubbing!
This branch of Spize is a frequent hangout place for party-goers at Clarke Quay or the nearby Zouk. For me, this is a pitstop before or after clubbing! I love the food here although my friends beg to differ.
My personal favourite are Prata Bomb, Tissue Prata and a GRANDE Milo. Yes, the grande size is like a huge mug with Milo. Definitely worth the money than ordering 2 normal sized Milo. The Prata Bomb seems pretty authentic from the way the roll it and the ingredients they have inside. Prata Bomb isn't exactly a Prata explosion but more of a sugar rush! They have honey, sugar, cheese and butter inside of it.
The only bad point about Spize at this branch is the poor service when the place is packed. This is understandable because they have tables that stretch way out of their actual shop layout.
Value for money
Getting hungry in the middle of the night and finding out that all food outlets have closed for their business hours could be frustrating for some people. But that might not be necessarily the case for some others who know SPIZE Cafe
With 2 outlets opened at River Valley and Bedok, SPIZE caters to the need of supper lovers and offers a wide variety to choose from. Unlike any other Cafes and food outlets, SPIZE is operating from evening to dawn.
SPIZE is well known for its Halal, western and mediterranean cuisines, including a plate of tasty fried rice wrapped in a layer of omelet, topped with chilli sauce, widely known as pattaya fried rice.
For the western cuisine lovers, you will be pampered with varieties of mouth- watering chicken and beef from the western kitchen. You name it, they have it. It is no wonder that, SPIZE Cafe is not only a popular hangout cafe for the locals but also the tourists.
The food is absolutely great, value for money and here comes the good thing; if you are too lazy to step out of the house, you can always ring them and the food will be delivered to your doorstep.
horrible service but tasty food
The food at SPIZE is really huge in portion! Huge is probably an understatement. I always head there for supper and a $6 fried noodle dish can usually fill 2 and sometimes up to 3 people. We love variety and SPIZE definitely does fulfill our need in this area. From Western to Thai to Malay and Indian food, they have everything in the menu. My personal favorites are the Murtabak coupled with Iced Milk Tea. The murtabak is packed with tasty well-marinated meat and cheese. My friends and I usually order 5 to 6 dishes to share amongst us (about 6 to 7 people) and not only is it great for value, it is very tasty and filling as well.
That being said, the service is the worst I've ever came across. There are just too many waiter and waitresses doing nothing. Just standing around and posing? I would call waiter A to take my order and he would pass the job to waiter B and in the end.. no one comes. I would have to call someone again. It can get pretty frustrating especially when it's so packed and everyone is calling for their orders to be taken. The food takes a long time to come as well. I would recommend you to come with your friends (chat time!) while waiting for the food to arrive.
Spize Supperclub located at 336 Bedok Road, or better known as Simpang Bedok, is a well-known eating place. It is flocked with customers be it early in the day for its range of pratas or til late at night, as its name suggests, for every other of its dishes - both western and local delights.
One of my favourite is the Garlic Mushroom steak, eaten best at medium well. Coupled with a side of carrots, broccoli and mashed potatoes, the steak is juicy yet tender, and the portion just right even for a small built girl like me. Take note though that service might get a bit slow on certain nights, especially if there are soccer matches shown on tv. Personally, I feel it's worth the wait. Located in the heartlands with Tanah Merah MRT station a walk away and many public buses heading there, Spize is a convenient spot for any meal in the day, all through the night.
Given its friendly and laid back atmosphere, it is also a great place for get-togethers and I still do just that, even with my secondary school friends of 9 years. So for good steak at an affordable price and a convenient location, I'd recommend Spize Supperclub to all, teenagers and families alike.
Spize up your Supper!
Are you a supper lover like me or feels hungry in the middle of the night and craving for food? Spize is a good choice. For the range of food, it provides Western to Asian and always piping hot! Usually I will go for Pratas and Mee Goreng as these are the typical food I go for supper. The drinks are not bad either, like Iced Teh O Limau and hot Teh Tarik. I guess all the above I've mentioned are my favourite food at Spize. Probably many people also go for Nasi Lemak but I find it quite simple and plain. The Nasi Lemak might be left outside for quite some time so that the food is not warm.
Overall, it is a good place for having a nice and filling supper but slightly dirty as I can see cockroaches running about. Maybe I have to focus on the food and not the floor. Too bad it closes at 3am as some clubbers may need to recover their energy after long hours of dancing. Maybe they should extend the opening hours till 6am on Fridays and Saturdays! It is an advantage to all and not just for clubbers.
Spize up your hunger!
Spize has famous for their opening hours and the variety and quality of food that they sell, somewhat similar to the 24-hours Al-Ameen. They have a large variety of food ranging from Asian to Western!
They are often packed at night where people are looking for seats for eat with supper with their friends. What I often order would be their 'Tissue Prata' and 'Prata Bomb'. The 'Tissue Prata' though is slightly more expensive than a common Prata shop; it is worth the money as it is very crispy, with melted sugar on the underside surface of the Prata. I have always preferred Prata Bomb to Egg Prata. The reason being is that the egg is not overcooked and you can eat part of the egg yolk raw. It goes well with curry. As you dip the uncooked yolk into their fish curry, it will taste very different from normal Egg Prata with the curry.
I would recommend you to try their Tissue Prata if you are not sure of what to order or you would like to eat something that is light and not have a strong taste. However, if you are not interested in their Indian Cuisine, you might want to try their Western, Asian or even Thai dishes!
Awesome place to catch up with your friends over supper
*Please note that the following review is on the branch at Simpang Bedok*
A favourite among those who crave suppers, this gem in the East definitely is a must go for all supper lovers. Located in the midst of a quiet private estate in Tanah Merah, this place truly comes alive after 7.30pm.
1. WIDE VARIETY OF FOOD – The menu is one of the longest I have ever seen; it consists of Western foods, pastas, and Singaporean flavours such as nasi ayam goreng, a huge selection of tantalising drinks such as the usual Milo dinosaur and the more exotic sparkling drinks. Coming here for your supper means that you and your friends who crave for different foods will not have to compromise, instead you can all assuage your cravings at the same place!
2. PROMPT SERVICE – The staggering number of waiters means that your needs are attended to quickly. Want some chilli sauce to go with those crispy golden fries? Be assured that you will get that sauce before you finish half of your fries, as is almost always the case elsewhere.
3. HUGE SERVINGS – Inflation is upon us and restaurants love to downsize servings to cut costs, but not Spize. The first time I ordered a cheese fries to share with 2 other friends, we thought that it was just a small serving to temporarily placate our hunger while we wait for our main dishes. However, when it came, we were happy to find out that it was almost a main dish itself. Liberally doused with cheese (other places are misers with their cheese) and mayonnaise, it is a very value-for-money side dish that you can share with your friends.
4. VARIETY OF FOOD STALLS AND ENTERTAINMENT NEARBY – This is a plus point as you and your friends are able to enjoy your night thoroughly. With stalls selling dim sum, tao huey, prata, etc nearby, you can placate all your cravings just by dining in one place. After having your supper, you can also continue your night by heading over to the karaoke or LAN gaming places just across the road.
1. ALFRESCO DINING – This may seem romantic or not much of a problem, but if it is the monsoon season with frequent heavy rains, dining out in the open may not seem as attractive. You are exposed to the elements throughout your meal, so your dining experience is dependent on something which is very unpredictable. Humidity and rainy are all pesky downers which you can only hope to not appear and ruin your supper. However, recently, shelters and tents have been erected so that you are able to enjoy your supper even if there is a torrential thunderstorm. Cheers to the consideration of the owners!
2. LIMITED PARKING LOTS – Parking is a problem if you drive to Simpang. Even though in recent months there have been an additional parking lot built nearby, it is still rather hard to find a parking lot due to the huge popularity of Spize and nearby food stalls. Hence you may prefer to take a train down to Tanah Merah and take a bus ride of 2 bus stops to have your supper instead!
Spize is a great place for my friends and me to catch up over delicious food. The atmosphere is ideal for chit chatting, and you don’t have to mind others as it is an open space. You don’t have to be dressed to the nines to enjoy a quick supper, and dining in comfort is the best experience any one can have. Just be sure to check the weather forecasts if you don’t want to be caught up in a thunderstorm while dining alfresco style!
Tasty food to excite your tastebuds!
I remembered going Spize a few years back after clubbing. It is located near the city area but not easily spotted. However, everyone should pay Spize a visit, as it is another worthy supper place! For those party go-ers, perhaps it would be a good idea to visit after clubbing so that it would not be wasted if you happen to get drunk and puke the awesome food out!
Spize consists of a mixture of cuisines, ranging from Western to Authentic Thai to Indian food. With such a great array of choices, one will have difficulty choosing what to eat! It would be great to go with many friends so that you can share different types of food and try them all. The fish and chips was exceptionally good! Crunchy and no fishy taste, not too oily... Mmm the succulent taste is unforgettable! Top it off with tom yam soup, which is not too spicy and quite sour (I like my tom yam soup sour) and there, you have the perfect supper! Pratas are not too bad too.
I would definitely want to go back again to try other dishes, even though I did not have the chance to for the past few years. If the food leaves me wanting for more even after a few years, I don't see why you shouldn't pop by this place to have a taste of it yourself!
Have you ever heard of mutton chop and beef steak at an Indian stall? Perhaps this place would be a good start to indulge yourself in the best local made Indian food. They do serve other dishes too but today I will be talking about my favorite Beef Steak.
Actually it's a shop houses kinda restaurant and it's quite accessible. A few bus from Orchard will pass by this place but watch out cause the bus stop is a distance after the place and thus you need to open up and explore.
When I first came here, I had no idea of what to eat. It has been a long time since I was craving for beef steak after being tuned down at numerous stalls.
But let me tell you something. This is the best beef steak I have ever tasted. It's not dry, it's in fact very soup. At 6 dollars, it is served a big oval shaped bowl filled with minced beef, chopped mixed vegetables and some parsley. What makes it the best is the soup itself. I told you it's soup based. The one you have seen outside is dry. The soup is not too spicy and not too sweet. It has a very minty and beefy based but when you eat it together with the minced beef, it will give you this particular taste which you will crave for more. You can even eat it with rice or dipped with a bread.
There are other dishes which I have tried before but I will share more next time.
Meantime, try this beef steak. It's totally marvelous!
