So much hype, so under delivered
I cannot express how incredibly amazed I am at the fact that no Indian stalls seem to appreciate sleep - for there is an insane amount of Indian prata shops open beyond regular hours.
Me and my sleepless friend found ourseleves here after finding out the char-grill further up was closed early, and after much hype from our friends.
We ordered prata (cheese and egg) and some drinks and settled down to wait about ten minutes (for a slow night, but ah I shall not whine!) and dug in.
I have incredibly high standards for prata after my happy experience at West Coast so this one didn't make the cut. It was alright, I'd give it a 6/10, and I probably won't come back for seconds. But the ambiance is pretty chill so I guess that's a saving grace.
Really won't come back though.
Good prata above everything else
What makes it stand out from the rest is that as the portions are simply humongous and the price is relatively cheap. The prata is to die for! Expect old favourites such as cheese prata, banana prata and paper prata but with a new twist. ! It’s not as oily as normal prata and its crisp texture puts it in a league of its own.
The place could do with a bit of sprucing up though because it seems rather dirty and at times, unhygienic. Expect slow service during peak hours (waiters seem to appear and disappear often passing on orders to each other and sometimes there may be some sort of miscommunication) but for late night foodies, this is definitely a spot for everyone to enjoy.
Fresh roti pratas!
Alif's restaurant has been there for as long as anyone can remember, and is well-known for it's fresh roti pratas. Plenty of customers frequent the restaurant and their customers range from kids to teenagers and adults.
One of the most distinct item on their menu is the cheese prata, instead of using normal square cheese splat in the middle like other prata stalls, this stall actually uses a generous scatter of grated chunky mozzarella cheese, melted to goodness in the crispy hot prata. Head on down for supper and convenient, cheap, hot food such as nasi lemak, fried rice, etc.
