Apparently I collected the ticket but didn't know the protocol that if I am not occupying a seat, I will miss my turn. When I realised that people who came after me were already getting the hair cut, even though hairdresser noted I was there before, I took a seat.
The hair dressers were busy prancing around the Ang Mohs who were there at the same time ("Sorry Sorry ahh"), but it went to the extreme that finally when my turn came, the hairdresser completely ignored my presence and requested the Ang Moh after me to come and take the seat. He was courteous enough to point out that it was my turn. By that time I was to irritated to care how they cut my hair, asked them to just trip some at my neck and left.
An affordable, satisfactory haircut!
As a student, I'm always looking for places where I can get things done affordably - and QB house satisfies that criterion. Getting a haircut at $10!? It's nearly too good to be true.
QB house is very efficient - you simply insert $10 into the machine and it gives you a ticket. All you do is sit and wait for your turn. When I was there, the wait was approximately 10 minutes. I showed the hairdresser a picture of the haircut I wanted and she promptly and excellently cut my hair just the way I liked.
I also like how QB house is very hygienic - they use a new comb on each customer, which I think is very thoughtful because most hairdressers do not consider the hygiene factor when it comes to cutting hair. No more worrying about whether the previous customer had hair lice!
While many people I know say that QB house offers poor hairdressing services ie. The hairdressers do not cut hair the way they wanted. My personal experience at QB house was pretty good and I managed to get the haircut I wanted. Of course, this could also be because all I requested for a was a simple bob and nothing too fancy and over-the-top; I also think the quality of service differs from outlet to outlet. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the service at QB house!
Cheap and fast.
The place to go for a cheap, no frills hair cut. They don't do shampoo, or the other fancy services. They are very organized, you get in, get your ticket and wait patiently for your turn. More and more outlets have been sprouting out everywhere, this is an ideal place for a haircut for busy individuals needing to brush up their outlook. When I went there, I was pleasantly surprised at how organized the system was, the service was impeccable, and the haircut was efficient, neat and simple.
Another thing I was impressed with was that after your haircut, they will give you the comb that they used on you, which I thought was a nice touch. Say goodbye to suspicious unhygienice combs. Leaving the place with a brand new look, they make sure little or no hair gets on you, so you can proceed your day without going for a bath.
Quick cut, mainly for guys
I went to the Jurong Point branch for a quick trim and I think $10 was totally worth it. The service was good (although it may differ from branch to branch) and I think the hairdresser was quite happy to see a girl amongst all the guys who were queueing up! Well, there was also a free comb.
The haircutting process clean and quick - Great plus points!
However, I think that this place is only for a quick trim and mainly for guys. It met my expectations as the trim was well done. Guess it differs from branch to branch. For $10, do not expect a stylish haircut or other frills.
the first and the last visit
I visited QB House once few years back, my impression is that QB House is clean and small. I was just fascinated at first as this idea came from Japan if I’m not wrong, so I want to give it a try.
I asked for trimming and the time starts. That 10 minutes is the worst 10 minutes in my live for now. The hairdresser started off fast, like ‘warriors’ waving their ‘swords’ and my hair is their ‘enemies’. Feeling anxious and wondering why the 10 minutes are not up yet. After she’s done, I really don’t know what to say. In conclusion, I’m disappointed.
Cheap and lousy service.
Yes, QB House offers one of the cheapest haircuts in town. What is not widely publicized, however, is the fact that they also provide one of the most insensitive and worst services in Singapore.
A hair cut may cost only $10, but we value our hair much more than that. Whilst at salons and barbershops they treat your hair with some respect and gentleness, over here at QB they supposedly "qualified" hairdressers treat you like you're a an item on a production line. They handled my hair so roughly that I was forced to tell off the hairdresser!
If a cheap price is all it takes to compromise for quality, then I'd rather pay a few dollars more for a much better experience.
How does this place keep springing up with outlets?
This place is atrocious.
I do not care for their fancy "oh insert $10 and get a cute little ticket!" system nor their weird multiple compartments in one infrastructure, this place is straight up a waste of space and shouldn't even be allowed anymore franchises.
First up, the hairdressers are rude and indifferent. My baby brother was cutting his hair and he was a little scared but did they give a hoot? No, they kept on their "black face" and served him without assurance. When the hair cut was over and my baby brother was excitedly showing off his hairdo, they ushered him out of his seat. Words cannot convey how pissed off I was.
Second, the hair cuts are nothing impressive. I bet, with a lie-laced resume, I could get a job in this place too. I was watching the other staff cut their victims' hair and it's not anything I can't do with a pair of normal scissors from a secondary school's pencil case. How is $10 worth this inexperience? This service is only worth $2 at best, use the other $8 to buy Haagen Dazs to eat while crying over your now-ruined hair.
Thirdly, they do not allow anyone else but customers on their seat. My grandma refused to go in and rest her legs just because there was a sign. Nobody was on the seat, who are they to fancy themselves as such a hot-and-coming place that they think their seats will be that consistently filled?
I think I've been too harsh, so I'll end off saying - say a prayer and find some scissors, you'll serve yourself a better hairdo with your eyes blindfolded than they will with all the finest equipment of the hairdressing world.
cheap and fast
QB house is actually the first salon that I went to cut my hair. It was located near my house, just 5 minutes’ walk away from my house only. From the experience I have with them for so many times, it is really cheap and fast. They used vending machine for purchasing the card to cut hair. What is bad about this card was that it does not state when my turn is. Whenever I went in, they will greet me by saying hello using Japanese without fail unlike some of the salon who does not even greet their customers. There is also a closet to keep our belongings save while we enjoying our hair cutting. However, there is once when I reached there, it is filled with many people waiting and they asked me to wait outside for my turn as there is no place to sit and it was very crammed if I were to stand and wait inside. Waiting outside is fine with me but what makes me angry was that there was not even one chair provided for me to sit and I have to stand and wait.
There is a small screen which advertised all about QB house which allow customers to watch to prevent us from feeling bored while cutting hair. Whenever we cut our hair, it required us to bend our head lower down so that they are able to cut the hair and just nice the screen was located at the bottom which makes me feel that it was really design for customer use.
QB house is very concern about hygienic and cleanliness of the place. They use a fresh new comb for every customer. The comb will be given to the customer after use but I always told them I do not need since I have a lot of comb at home. Furthermore, they also used sterilizer to sterilize the brushes and combs every time when it is not in use. They will also use vacuum to clear all the hair on the floor after we left not even a single hair were left on the floor unlike some of the salon there were hair all over the floor.
So if anyone of you want to trim your hair only and expect to fast and cheap, I suggest you all to go QB house. You can also bring magazines of the style of hair that you want them to cut for you too.
Varies according to outlets.
When QB house was first introduced in Singapore, I’m surprised of their 10min haircut and electronic machine being so advanced for a hair salon. After knowing that there will be QB house minutes away from my house, I decided to patronize and that was the first time I entered QB house. The minute I entered, the staff warmly greeted me with “good afternoon” in Japanese and helped me with my hair cut. As my previous hairstyle is not really satisfying, I told the staff that I want a brand new haircut while trimming my fringe.
The staff gave me a new haircut which I’m quite satisfied. Overall, the service of QB house is good. Even though it’s just like 10minutes haircut, the staffs still chat with me so that I won’t be that bored while sitting down there. After cutting, they would use a Vacuum to clean, so that there won’t be that much hair on the clothes.
Weeks later, I patronize QB house at a Shopping Centre but the service there was kind of disappointing, the staffs cut my hair even shorter when I told her that I want to trim my hair so that it won’t thicken. Now, I know that not all the QB house standard is the same. It varies according to different outlet and I will only go back to the outlet near my house.
Actually I'm not a person who always cut or trim my hair, but I did went to QB house a couple of times before for some trimming. I like the way they keep their place super clean unlike the usual saloons whereby there are hair on the floor.
At QB House, after you paid a $10 through a machine in exchange for a card for their service, they will provide you with a cabinet to keep your bag or glasses before you start your hair service with them, after your hair cut they will use a vacuum to clean up any hair that is left on your neck or shoulder. It the quality customer service that counts.
If you are someone who like quality customer service, QB House is the right place for you, but if are looking for someone who can cut a perfect hairstyle for you, I suggest you go to your professional hairdresser as QB House is only good for trimming and cutting the usual hairstyles, anything that requires more techniques, they may not be able to meet your requirements.
