I like it, alot.
Talk about man bags and shirts, first thing that comes to my mind is esprit.
Esprit boasts a wide array of shirts that appeal to both the young and the old, but certainly not the poor. Esprit's pricing is higher than that of topman and cotton on, but i feel that it wins in tems of quality as not many companies can adopt the unique quality of the shirts esprit have.
The ladies wear and bags are also really trendy, although i feel that they suit women in their twenties more than anything else. Esprit has also recently branched out to footwear too, and are currently selling only ladies footwear.
Comfortable and Good Quality Tees, But...
I have been an Espirt fan since 5 years ago. I always love its quality of the T-shirt, comfortable and durable. However, since then, I find that the brand has a lack of design and creativity in their T-shirts. Recently reported in the news, Espirt has closed down all outlets in North America to minimise losses. In terms of service, I give them a 4.5 star. Its staff is always friendly and ready to serve. Ultimately, the security guard will always greet you whenever you enter the outlet, VivoCity outlet. This is uncommon in Singapore shopping malls.
The cost of the products are reasonable. Even when its not sales period, each tee is about 20 plus to 30 plus. For a branded product, it is reasonable.
for quality & comfort
I do agree with many that Esprit’s clothes are quite expensive, considering the plain designs and basic tops. This applies to me as well. For a plain working blouse, it can cost $79.90 or more. Their working dresses can cost up to $200 over, comparable to prices at Zara. However, it is also a well known fact that Esprit’s clothes are of superb quality. Clothes purchased from there will neither stretch nor shrink even when machine washed. Moreover, it is ultra comfy. Recently, Esprit has expanded their product lines to include heels for the working class. I have a good feeling that is going to be comfy as well.
For those who buy from Esprit quite frequently, I would recommend you to join their member. For a minimum purchase, you can be their member and be entitled to 20% discount on their regular price items! For sales items, you can get an additional 10% off too! On top of that, you get vouchers once you sign up for membership.
Very ordinary, nothing special
There are way more better clothing brands than Esprit. Granted that I had a great impression of Esprit when I saw the store in Malaysia. Doubtful whether it's just me, but I've constantly felt that the products are slightly better than in Singapore. The designs- that is. Esprit designs are too voluminous for my liking. The shirt quotes are rather corny as well.
Ultimately, it depends on each individual's tastes. Personally, I've never been a fan of the brand. Moreover, the price seems unreasonable as well. My mom bought a top which costs about $15. Imagine her shock when she came across a strikingly similar top(in terms of the design and colour) which only costs $9.90. Both are of similar material. The name of the store shall remain undisclosed.
In terms of service, it was tons better. Going the extra mile to provide a good service counts highly for me. With that being said, I applaud the staff for their excellent service.
There's certainly a room for improvement.
Overpriced for its quality
Esprit is a brand commonly known by many locals here. It has a handful of flagship stores in many malls. From big malls to heartland malls. I personally have a few Esprit tees and they are very comfortable to wear. Why do I give such a low rating if they are comfortable? Reason being these tees are very expensive at normal pricing ($29.90?) and they are tee shirts that you won't be wearing to town or to any place where you are looking to impress. All my Esprit tees are confined to the boundaries of my home. The print on the shirt is too tacky for me to want to wear out.
Of course, they have a huge selection of other better looking stuff that you may want to wear out. Prices are really expensive. More expensive than say Forever 21. The clothes are not even well-designed. Ok, maybe you can pick up some during the sale but I will never pay full price of any item there. I would rather shop at H&M or Forever 21. A cargo pants for $49.90? No, thanks. I have to say that most Esprit stores are rather empty (hmm...why so?) and it may be a good place for you to shop at should you fear the girly crowds at Forever 21. Oh, Esprit is a good place to get umbrellas if you need one urgently!
expensive clothes with boring designs
I've bought some apparel from Esprit in the past but i hardly even enter the shop nowadays. Esprit seems to be getting more expensive and their sales aren't as good as before. Their clothing designs are also getting more boring. In the females section, they have mostly very basic tees and tanks.
Personally, i also find their designs more suitable for an older target audience. Hence esprit is hardly a shop that i would patronize to stock up on new clothes for my wardrobe. I've been to the guys section with my guy friends before and they generally don't fancy the designs as much as compared to say a shop like topman.
That said, i find some of the more simple designs at esprit quite appealing as they make good basics. However some of the cotton shirts at esprit wear out quite easily. I have a simple white tee that got quite loose and flimsy after just a couple of months.
What i do like about esprit would be some of the bags that they have. some of the designs are quite classic and easy to go with almost any outfit. besides that, I'm not a big fan of esprit.
expensive fashion range
I recall vaguely that Esprit used to be an affordable brand, but the prices of its apparels and bags have increased drastically over the years. Once a while though, I still shop at Esprit if I see something I like and if there is sales. However, I usually leave the shop empty handed. As a member, I am able to receive alerts of sales and receive greater discounts for the items purchased.
The bags from Esprit are generally heavy, because of the heavy material used and the heavy metallic linking parts. The designs are quite nice and fashionable, so I will bear with the weight once a while and still carry my Esprit bag out. Esprit fashion seems to have a striking appearance and feel, so it is easy to tell when an item is from Esprit.
Although the designs of the apparels from Esprit are rather attractive, the material used to make them are rather flimsy, especially for the t-shirts. And priced at almost $50, I would not pay for them unless I am able to find something that I can layer the top with.
During the sales period, Esprit can get very crowded especially on the weekends. Even though the sizes of the apparels and the designs of the bags and wallets are the leftovers, it is still possible to find suitable items amidst the pile.
Heavily discounted apparels during GSS?
Esprit used to be one of the apparel stores I would visit for my basics and tee shirts, ranging from floral dresses to tank-tops. They are more popular with most of the young adults and some of them from the older generation, probably because of the quality of the material they used. However, I do not really frequent their outlets as most of the outlets are far for me, mostly at the town areas in Singapore.
What attracted me were their high quality clothings, unlike those that you might find in Far East Plaza or those push-carts along the shopping centres. The material doesn’t tend to have lots of fibres coming out of the shirt after much washing though the shape of the shirt did changed by a little. I would always go for close to 90% cotton for such a humid weather in Singapore. I think that the quality of the fabrics used did changed much as the quality of the shirts I bought few days ago began to change its shape after I wore it the first time.
Perhaps what keeps us, as consumers, for going to Esprit might be the immerse discounts for the apparels when they are on sale. Discounts could go up to 80% and an additional 10% for cardmembers.
Could have been better.
This fashion store used to be a big hit among the ladies, but the trend is going down with time. I used to shop frequently at Esprit because of several factors. One is the quality; most of the apparels are made from high quality fabrics, resistant of wear and tear and of course, user friendly when it comes to washing. But now, some of the materials are much more different from what it used to be. The tops are made of average quality materials, and some aren't durable at all. I dislike the part when it comes to ironing, the side line of the tops are not symmetrical making it much harder to iron.
Second is the designs. Esprit used to come up with stylish, chic and trendy designs. But now, every time I go to Esprit stores, I would not stay for more than 10 minutes. The designs are boring, less innovative and some collections are not even wearable in a tropical country.
Now, if we are talking about other accessories such as bags, hats and other accessories, I would say that I could find better shops that sells the same items with much better quality and more affordable prices.
