Worth a Visit

Covenant Evangelical Free Church is unique in that it organises an annual conference “Intentional DiscipleMaking Conference” (IDMC), where people from other churches get to participate in. IDMC is one of the more larger scale conferences in Singapore popular amongst other churches as it entails useful sessions by international speakers as well as local pastors based overseas.

Reverend Edmund Chan, the mentoring pastor and key leader of CEFC, is also one of the key speakers at every IDMC. Perhaps a little like New York City’s twenty-first century C. S. Lewis, Timothy Keller, founder of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Reverend Edmund Chan has the gifting to speak with style and substance. He does not fail to engage the congregation, filling in messages with personal anecdotes and allegories, connecting with the audience through contemporary examples. He has also written books covering the overarching message of IDMC which have been well received. One of his books has sold over 10,000 copies.

Great congregation

As a member of this church for many years, I have come to like this place a lot and consider it my second home. I used to attend the centre at Bukit Panjang before the Woodlands one was built, and I have many fond memories there.

The Woodlands centre was built in 2008 and the new building was able to accommodation the fast growing congregation that was at Bukit Panjang. Over the years, the church has been adjusting it's services to better accommodate the congregation. Aside from the english service, there are services in other languages such as Hokkien, Mandarin and Cantonese for those who do not speak English as their first language. Indonesian and Filipino fellowship are held every fortnight for foreign workers who might want to join the church.
