Famous or infamous?
Xiaxue is Asia Pacific’s most popular blogger, with 40,000 views a day and has won many awards such as the Nuffnang best blogger award. These could be attributed to her quirky sense of humour, bluntness in expressing her views - which brings much traffic to her blog and most recently, her adorable baby Dashiel whom the public fell in love with.
I am an avid reader of Xiaxue’s blog since 2011 and watched almost every episode of her online video serial “Xiaxue’s Guide to Life”. Her Guide to Life is H-I-LA-R-I-O-U-S as she pipes in jokes while doing unorthodox activities such as ……. and as a result, she successfully built a strong fandom for herself.
While a controversial figure at times, as seen from spiteful retaliation posts to her haters or to Dawn Yang (her arch enemy), I believe she still deserves the public respect. It isn’t easy to be the first lifestyle blogger in Singapore , neither is it easy to remain at the top.
I don't really like her but I think she's got guts. Even though there are many younger bloggers coming up, I still like to go to hers once in awhile for entertainment and drama. She's very good with stirring controversy to bring life to her blog and traffic. More traffic means more moolah! Clever lor. But I wish she can set a better example to her younger readers because it is quite scary the level of influence she has over them. I remember seeing someone on the street who dressed and put make up on like her! But her baby boy is very cute and now she's using him to build her traffic.
A little bimbo but funny and interesting!
She's bimbo but what's great about her is because she is very straightforward and frank. That's what makes her unique and funny. Sometimes, what she says is really true just that people dont generally say it out. Watching her guide to life is funny too. It is retarded and many times, in fact she does not even know what she's doing but it's because it is crappy that is why it is funny and interesting.
My favourite episode is when she showed us her princess room and I thought it was really nice and she must have spent a lot of effort on it. That inspired me to sort out my clothes nicely like her and start decorating and DIY my own furniture too.
Top Blogger indeed.
Love her for being so direct and straightforward about things that we rarely talk about, and much less talk about it in public. She tweets/blogs about almost everything we try to not talk about. And the interesting part is that she is able to voice her opinions with conviction, despite the fact that they are many haters cyber-attacking her.
She is a host of her own show, 'Guide to Life' on clicknetwork.tv and i must it's realy entertaining to watch snippets of her life. Being an avid reader of her blog since the earlier days, it's cool to see her transform from this single girl who relied heavily on photoshop, to this married woman (soon to be mom!) who has done plastic surgery and is not afraid to admit it. Hats off to her.
With her straightforwardness, you can't expect a PG blog. Some of her entries contain really colorful language, which makes her stand out from the other bloggers who seem to blog without any negative emotions. Afterall, a blog should be personal right?
Lots of interesting things about her life
Xiaxue may seem judgmental to many but I feel that so is just being straight-forward and "un-fake" (though some may beg to differ). I feel that Xiaxue's frankness and ability to express how she feels is something commendable as it is not easy to say what you really feel knowing that there are many who may criticize her.
Xiaxue's Guide To Life, which is a channel on Clicknetworktv is really interesting to watch. Each episode features her trying of new and interesting things that captures my attention. One of my favourite episodes would be her room tour. I was shocked my the amount of pink and "bling" things she has in her room as well as all her clothes! It's entertaining to watch other episodes where she tries new things which makes me want to try them too.
In the past, I was never a Xiaxue fan. You may call be judgemental, but I thought she seemed like a spoilt brat, who was blogging about trivial matters.
However, I was hanging out with my friends at Swirl Art one day and saw her sitting opposite our table having some yoghurt. My friends were all in awe with her and approached her to have some photos taken. Surprisingly, she was so warm and friendly to us. She did not even mind taking photos with us, despite us disturbing her time with her own friends. I was so surprised by her amiable nature, I decided to give her blog a try.
In fact, her blog was a really interesting read. I really liked how candid she was with her opinions. Despite her obsession with beauty, I found some of the tips that she gave on her blog pretty useful too. Never judge a book by its cover, for you never know what lies underneath; it may be filled with something unexpectedly interesting.
Keeping it real
Xiaxue is the undisputed queen of blogging in Singapore, and despite the fact that she hasn't been updating her blog quite as much recently, her newer posts have been more captivating than ever and I don't think she'll be letting up her throne anytime soon.
Famous (or maybe infamous) for her bold and controversial writing, Xiaxue has definitely hit the local papers several times, and she is undeniably proud of it.
Personally, I think that she is a woman with a very strong character. She does not shy away from insults, and in fact gets back at her haters unabashedly. She is one of the most honest bloggers in our local blogging community, and coupled with her unique way of thought, it is no wonder that she has held on to the reign of the best blog in Singapore for several years.
Unlike other online celebrities who may attempt to shake their dirt off, Xiaxue embraces every part of herself, and she makes sure that her readers know it too. She openly admits to having done plastic surgery, speaks of her squabble with Dawn Yang on her blog, and even posts up pictures of her haters. All these requires courage, and courage is definitely not something that Xiaxue lacks.
A remarkable woman that really shouldn't deserve that much hate from netizens.
Bold & Honest
There really aren't that many people who're as honest as Xiaxue.
And I have to say that I'm really impressed by how brave she is. While there are people of the younger generation who find her perspective fresh and interesting (and honestly, sometimes SHE SPEAKS OUR THOUGHTS), there'll always be those that criticize and judge her for her acts (like getting cosmetic procedures done etc.) It definitely isn't easy bearing the brunt of hate-mails and hateful comments from people who know nothing about you.
I think that she's a great blogger and worthy of respect. She's a necessity in Singapore's close-minded society to bring forth a new generation with new ideas and a more open culture.
I actually enjoy reading Xiaxue's blog from time to time.
What I like most about this particular blog is that its owner often writes unabashedly about her opinions on different issues. She is awfully truthful about what she thinks and, more importantly, she doesn't attempt to put up an act just so she can curry favour with the people that contribute to her impressive readership. I feel like there aren't enough people who are honest nowadays, and the tendency to agree with the masses is absolutely tempting - out of fear of being ostracised or shunned.
With that said, I like to think of Xiaxue as courageous. It's not like I haven't noticed that her amount of haters are almost as large as her supporters. It takes a special kind of person to withstand so much hate every single day without backing down or trying to please everybody. I feel like if you choose to appease every single person you meet or interact with, you're going to lose your honest self - and that, in my books, is not worth the sacrifice at all.
Kudos to Xiaxue for maintaining her blog for so long and still keeping it real!
