Fine and Exquisite
Rockstar By Soon Lee is a haven for style-conscious young people with a little bit more money to spend. All the items here are fashion-forward and of top quality, sure to last you a long time.
I especially love the accessories they carry. From dainty deer-shaped silver earrings to handmade beaded bracelets, everything is just so fine and exquisite. Other than the obvious apparel and footwear, did you know that they also sell terrariums and indie magazines? To put it simply, everything here is pretty amazing, a cut above the rest.
Things here are definitely not cheap though, with earrings costing around $27 per pair and apparel costing an average of $49. But then again, perhaps the high price will encourage people to treasure the items more. I recommend visiting this place at least once to see if it's your taste. If not, just browsing all the cool items here can be really therapeutic too :)
Way too Overpriced, for me
As a wise customer, one should look at the quality of the goods, the price and compare so as to determine how worthy are the price base on the quality and the uniqueness of the good. Yup like most of you, I do agree that Rockstar is selling rather trendy and unique designs, be it its a top, bottom, shoe or bag. However have you guys really thought of how affordable is the price before actually buying them? What if I told you now that I have bought a shirt at $110 where you can get a similar design of the shirt at probably $70 at most?
Yes, i totally disagree of the price they set despite the fact that I do agree that the tops/ bottom etc they sell are of good quality and are unique. Honestly speaking, I only do agree with the price of the Baggu bag they sold, others NO-NO! Hit Like if you agree with what I have said, thanks!
Knocks my socks off. I'm a fan
Rockstar by Soon Lee, THANK YOU.
I have finally found a shop that sells legit toms of various designs, and not to mention really really cool outfits. Now there are even Supergas there, I have melted.
An indie kid at heart, this shop has appealed to me since I stepped foot into Cathay Cineleisure, and I find no qualms with it. A part time job here would be really nice though(i wish). The fashion in this shop simply marvels me, and the toms that are up are so tempting for me to try on sizes whenever i step foot into the shop. This is the best shop in Cineleisure.
Preppy, cool and unique!
I first thought that Rockstar sells street wear and indie clothing, which was why I was taken aback when I visited the store.
Shoppers will definitely be spoilt for choice. I know I am. I'm currently obsessed with their pointer shoes. If you're looking for unique and trendy wear, I highly recommend Rockstar. Other standouts include TOMS and my all time favourite, Converse. They can be rather exorbitant, so people with a budget, you might want to start saving up.
What I like best is that their website and facebook page are updated regularly. I can't stand stores where they have their facebook page but fails to post updates regarding upcoming events and sales.
They have an upcoming warehouse sale. For the first time! Do note that it's held at THE FACE SHOP BUILDING at Kallang Bahru. Best to go there early to avoid disappointment.
Other that apparels, Rockstar also features Penguin books. Something you rarely see nowadays at fashion stores. I especially like their Penguin tote bags.
Personally, I like the vibe the store has. Preppy. Trendy. Unique. Definitely the place for youths.
trendy and well-designed
Rockstar by Soon Lee is mainly targeted towards the youths and young adults. The simple, fuss-free architecture of the place has the instant ability to make you feel soothed out and calm. Perfect mood for shopping. Display of items are also quirky and not just your usual hang-on-rack, shoes-on-shelves kind of display. It is evident that they have placed effort into the arrangement of these items. Shop has a clean, sophisticated feel to it as well.
Rockstar carries the authentic TOMS (nothing inspired or knock-offs) and they come in a huge variety of patterns! Even the seasonal ones. It is your best place to get TOMS if you are afraid of getting the knock-offs from other places since knock-offs are getting increasingly common. At rockstar, you can definitely feel safe about the authenticity of the shoes. Apparels wise, they are very well-designed and well-cut while being trendy and unique at the same time. Although a little pricier than other boutiques, the uniqueness and good quality of the apparels greatly justifies the price tag that it comes with. Even if you are not planning to buy anything, it wouldn't hurt for you to go in and enjoy the Rockstar atmosphere!
Rockstar by Soon Lee exudes an understated charm. Cleverly designed with a homely atmosphere, the minimalist display that has been adopted by Rockstar is always comforting for both shoppers and window shoppers alike. One would be able to find books, bags, clothing, foreign shoe brands like Toms and Pointer and other small and entertaining knick-knacks to enhance daily lives.
Rockstar’s selection of the variety of books for sale never ceases to amaze me. From renowned cookbooks to old-fashioned novels, the wide range would surprise and meet the needs of different individuals perfectly. Besides the conventional brands, Rockstar has also put in continuous efforts into sourcing and bringing in merchandise from indie designers. To keep up to date with their new arrivals, visit Rockstar’s blog for timely updates.
It is not unexpected that the clothing sold here fits with Rockstar’s clean and minimal aesthetics extremely well. Pricing would be slightly more costly, more or less on par with high street fashion retailers. Regardless, the one-of-a-kind designs here are not readily found anywhere else.
If you are ever bored of mainstream shopping, do drop by Rockstar to enjoy a unique shopping experience that would be bound to pique your thirst for more.
Rockstar by Soon Lee is located at a quaint and quiet corner on 3rd level of Cineleisure, easily spotted through it glass exterior from the bottom levels of the mall. The ambience of the store is soothing and relaxing - no music is played in the background and its interior is of woody tones and white.
The store is designed with the use of minimalistic furniture, displaying tastefully their plethora of products which range from shoes from Keds, TOMS and Converse (boasting rare designs), bags from Baggu, books – classics (some from Penguin) and locally written) – which are worth collecting due to their artistically designed covers, the ubiquitous teardrop toys (can’t remember its name!), interesting “plants in bell-jars/glass containers” and more.
The retail assistants are generally quiet and reticent (probably employed to be consistent with rockstar’s unassuming and unpretentious image) but they should not be mistaken as aloof. They wear friendly smiles and are approachable.
The clothing range from Rockstar consists of locally designed pieces as well as imported pieces which are consistent to Rockstar’s theme. Minimalistic, mod, sleek meticulously tailored, while still preserving an unassuming and humble image, the clothes are simple and staple pieces. Rockstar by Soon Lee is definitely a must-visit for me when I’m at Cineleisure.
Be different with Rockstar
Entering this shop, you will feel a sense of uniqueness, and something "hipster" about the store. Stocking many unique brands such as Alphabet bags, TOMS, and Baggu, you will be sure to have a whirlwind of a time exploring the many different items and interesting trinkets.
However, the prices are on the slightly higher side, which is to be expected as most of the goods are imported from overseas. Some of their items are also available for purchasing online at the brand site itself, but of course this would result in expensive shipping fees. Definitely a store that is interesting to look at, but for purchasing their items, one might have to think twice. Most of the sales assistant are also very friendly and helpful, assisting you whenever you need any help.
As this store is opened by a Singaporean, and I commend her effort for trying to bring something different to the Singapore fashion scene, which is often described as boring and dull. One might one to visit her store at Haji Lane too, to see her very own designed clothes and items. Overall an interesting store, but not one which you might find yourself buying from often.
I visited this shop in the hopes of being able to bring home my very own BAGGU, since this is the only place in Singapore that sells it physically. Because I was doubtful that they would have fresh stocks for the item I wanted, I specifically emailed them to ask about their stocks. The reply came and I was told that they had the item that I wanted, and they gave me a whole list of all the colours they had.
The sad part is, when my friend and I took the trouble to make my way down to the shop soon after, I did not see this wide array of items! Only a few were displayed and those were all the colours they had. Sadly, we left empty-handed despite being excited to get our backpacks on the spot.
That aside, I think the concept of the store is interesting, as it houses designer items and things that are special rather than common. The prices are expensive precisely because the items are unique, hence it is acceptable. The location is quite secluded though, as it is right at the end of the corridor, so if you did not intend to go to that shop, you may miss it entirely.
You wanna be a rockstar?
Located at Cathay Cineleisure at the bustling Orchard Road, its location is apt in attracting crowds who have just watched a movie at the cinema there, or some who have just finished their karaoke session.
Its shop carries the concept of bringing in young and trendy brands that might be of some use to the street hipsters, whereby they can easily satisfy their all their finds at the same store. Brands like Baggu, TOMS, Penguin and Dr Denim line up their stores with good display of the goods in the shop.
A step into the shop gives a strong sense of a homely feeling, of which the interior of the shop is a good reflection of their creativity such that it gives a different image as compared to other shops. Price wise, since they bring in some brands that are online stores, the price of course is lower than if we were to purchase them online.
Overall, one of the more unique sub-urban merchandising stores that we can find around.
