Fashionable And Durable Flip Flops
Havaianas is a popular flip flop / slipper brand from Brazil, despite its name being a reference to Hawaii, America. The original design for Havaianas was inspired by a traditional Japanese footwear called a Zori, which was made with rice straw soles and fabric straps. Today, Havaianas incoporates a textured rice pattern into its flip flops as a tribute to their inspiration.
The appeal of Havaianas lies with their incredible range of colours, designs, and patterns, with something for every taste. Designs for Havaianas are also rotated quite frequently, with inspirations drawn from beach culture, street culture, youth culture, sports culture, or pop culture. Rubber is the material used in producing a pair of Havaianas.
Another part of their appeal is the range of sizes, catering to all types of foot size, which ensures you're able to find a pair that can comfortably fit you. Havaianas are also known to be quite durable for a flip flop / slipper, as the typical life span is 6 to 12 months (or 2600 km), and the straps don't loosen easily, even with daily use.
Prices for a pair of Havaianas typically costs more than other brands of flip flops / slippers. A pair for men costs around SGD $30 - $50, while a pair for ladies costs around SGD $30 - $80.
As a company, Havaianas is eco-friendly. Any scraps of rubber used during their production process will be recycled and used to make a new pair of flip flops.
Good quality slipper, but not as useful for me
Frankly speaking, I have not try wearing any of the Havaianas slipper before. Reason being the price. The thought of merely wearing a slipper and yet it cost you $50 minimally, just sucks. In addition, how often do you happen to wear a slipper? Not that often, yea~ You see, for guys, unless you are wearing your berms, or your 3 quarter pants, wearing a slipper with a jean just make you look like ah beng, it just doesn't seem as decent as compared to yourself wearing a jean with a sneaker or any covered shoes, unless the fact that you are Malays, because I find them wearing jeans with slippers to be pretty cool, no offense though. So no matter how good the quality is, I won't buy any of the Havaianas slipper yet.
you've got to own a pair once in your life.
If you wear slippers at all, you have to have havaianas. Really. No other brand of slippers stands close.
The quality of slippers that Havaianas produces is amazing. I have worn mine for about 2 years and the front of the slippers is just starting to thin. My friend who doesn't wear slippers much has had her pair for 4 years and counting. Yes the price is slightly hefty for a pair of slippers but see it as a form of investment because it is durable, not slippery (I've tried slipping while wearing it before, it just doesn't work-unless your pair has been worn for a year or more, I guess) and trendy.
Call me narrow-minded but I cannot accept any slippers with straps that are not like those of havaianas. No, everything else just look like they are from the 80s.
You need to get a pair. "No you don't understand, it's expensive and blahblahblah....." No YOU don't understand. You just have to get it. Plus the staff is really nice!
The slipper that you must have!
Havaianas is one of leading brand for flip flops. My friends bought a pair for me during my 18th birthday and ever since then, I only purchase flip flops from Havaianas. Starting with the simple design that comes in almost ALL colours, the base of the slipper is comfortable for wearing. The sole of the slipper has a high skid resistance, and it’s almost impossible to slip and fall on wet surfaces. Even though it is expensive for a pair of slippers, it is highly durable. My last slippers lasted me for about 2.5 years. Thus definitely a good buy in the long run:)
beautiful but expensive flip flops
I used to like the flip flops from Havaianas as they come in many different colours, patterns and designs. Even though they are rather pricey, priced at more than $30 for a simple pair, their slimmer designs went well with sundresses, and looked nice on my feet.
However, I slowly could not tolerate them constantly cutting my feet when wearing them for the first few times, especially the sides, which often left my feet very tired and painful after just a few hours of walking. It takes me quite a few times of seasoning and many plasters, before they feel comfortable. It is probably just my feet though, as I hardly hear complaints about Havaianas slippers from my friends, apart from the price. Also, I noticed that for the same labeled size, neither are the slippers exactly the same size nor are the straps of equal tightness. It is important to try out the slippers and purchase the one that suits the feet best.
The shops always look very colorful from the outside, but there are rarely people within the store itself. The service crew is friendly and will offer their assistance should customers show interest in trying out the slippers. I still do enter Havaianas, especially during the sales period, but will definitely equip myself with plenty of plasters should I decide to get one.
The whole hype started a few years ago when there was a sudden craze about the havianas slippers. Everyone just had to have a pair because it was the in thing, it was like the longest lasting slippers that came in all shades and sizes. They first started out being carried in by NewUrbanMale and some other stores, where there would be a whole shelf of colourful slippers to choose from. I have no idea what made it so attractive but I just had to get a pair too.
Soon the whole havianas craze too off, and the store itself opened in Singapore. There were rumours that buying from the official store itself would be the safest because there tends to be fakes going around in the other stores. True or not, rumours are rumours. The prices and goods carried are identical to just that the official store probably has more variety and that they bring in the new range of slippers a little bit faster.
Besides selling slippers, havianas has established itself such that there are even merchandises that come with the slippers. There are slipper tags for sale in which the slipper can have a small additional add on on the stripe. There are also pens, and lights which I find really amusing because the lights are fitted with rubber havianas slipper covers. Having made it so huge, the quality of slippers is none the less uncompromised.
Colorful yet pricey flip flops
If you are flip flop lovers, Havaianas would be the right store to get all your flip flop needs. I visited the Havaianas store in Plaza Singapura and found a wide choice of vibrant colors like pink, silver, yellow, green, orange and definitely many more.
I got one pair for myself and it is comfortable. Unlike other kind of flip flops that would not last long, Havaianas flip flops are of good quality without base being depleted or becoming thinner. Besides that, the stripes are also flexible and do not hurt your feet while you are walking. However, each flip flops would cost you around $49.90. It is pricey and for such a good quality, you can reconsider getting them.
They offer both sizes and designs for males and females, so basically anyone can get their flip flops from Havaianas store.
Aside from the flip flops quality, the service staffs are also friendly and helpful. You could just mention the size of your foot wear and they would gladly assist you finding your right flip flops.
Havaianas is a brand that I am sure at least 90% of the teenagers or young adults will know. In recent years, Havaianas has been the #1 choice for flip-flops. Take a look around you and you will know why. I myself own a few pair of Havaianas. Why do I like it so much? To put it simply, I love the huge array of colors that they come in. Hot pink, baby pink, coral, silver, gold, black... endless! I also like the limited edition series that they sometimes come up with. Navy russian doll flip flops with golden straps. Doesn't that sound amazing? They make flip flops trendy as well. It's the commonly known branded flip flops.
Price is hefty at $50 at least per pair of flip-flops but I can tell you that it is justifiable by the quality. I have worn one of my pairs for close to 2 years and it is still going strong. Before that, I had to change my $9.90 flip flops once a month. So you can see this as a form of investment. Once you plonk the $50 down, I can guarantee that you don't have to change your flip flops for a long time to come.
