With the closing down of Botak Jones hawker stores across the island, I thought the chain was gone for good. So I was pretty surprised when my friends brought me over to Botak Jones in Clementi for lunch, and glad to find the menu exactly the same.

I had my usual Cajun Chicken ($8), which was coated with cheese and their special sauce. The chicken was juicy and not at all dry, and though I would have liked more sauce the meal was very satisfying. My colleague boldly ordered the Triple Burger ($14.50), which is this towering burger with three patties and thick slices of cheddar cheese. The hand-moulded patties were pretty tasty, but nothing special. Still, for a burger of that size it’s crazy value-for-money, if you have the appetite for it.

It’s a shame Botak Jones had to move out of the heartlands. If you’re looking for good quality American fare without burning a hole in your pocket you should give them a try!

With Botak Jones, I now understand that good service does not only need to come from fancy places.

When I went there I ordered the Jones burger and though the bun was very soggy, the patty certainly made up for it. I also got the cheese-baked potato as a side and I’d gladly give up the extra 80 cents in my future visits.

What may potentially bring down the experience though was that I felt that the place was under-staffed. A couple at the table next to me had waited very long for their order, but what impressed me was that both a member of the kitchen crew AND the waitress (the only waitress) went to apologize and explain the situation to them and even offered complimentary fries.

Though the waitress did go around every table to ask if we enjoyed the food, it felt too forced coming out of her. Nevertheless, I appreciated the effort and this place certainly is value for money.

I don't consider myself a food connoisseur, so even though I did taste Botak Jones at the height of it's popularity, it doesn't leave a lasting impression on me. Not to say that the food was bad. It was great, but I'm just the kind of guy who rems the bad and forget the good when it comes to food. The kind of guy chefs hate.

Anyway, since the only thing I rem about Botak Jones is the great food, I harbor no preconceptions about its quality and hence the perceived drop of standard reported by some of the reviewers. Ignorance is bliss!

I usually eat at the Bedok branch in the afternoon. Service is good and everyone was smiley and friendly. I also love the option of an extra large meal if I'm really hungry. Prices may be a little steeper than normal fare, but it's ultimately in a coffeeshop setting so the price would not be as bad as a restaurant or cafe's.

I absolutely relished its mashed potato with cheese, makes my mouth water just thinking of it now. All in all, I feel that Botak Jones is a more attractive choice to the long queues of Astons if you're looking for western specialties.

Botak Jones has such yummy food! Most of the time when I patronize Botak Jones, I’ll go for their Cajun Chicken! The portion is big and worth the money. The sizes seem to be decreasing over time though. Their chicken is fantastic! It’s chewy yet not too chewy or hard and the texture is perfect; every bite is full of their special spiced chicken goodness. They have cheese melted on the top too and it gives that extra flavor and chew to it.

With every main course, you can choose 2 side dishes to go with it. The Double Baked Cheese Potato was nice! The Butter Boiled Sweet Corn was okay only. I found it too small and it had a bit of that raw taste still lingering. Otherwise it was very juicy and nice! I got spicy fries too which wasn’t all that spicy, as most other foods which claim to be.

There was one side dish which was vegetable broth or something but it didn’t even have much soup! The serving was disappointingly small and it had way less soup than the already small bowl could contain.

They take quite a long time to serve and if you’re hungry, quickly make your order so that they can serve up the food ASAP.

i visited the branch at ang mo kio blk 181. as it is situated at a coffeeshop, we can expect the ambience not to match up to a restaurant but i'm not going to complain for the kind of prices we get at botak jones.

my boyfriend and i both ordered the cajun chicken, though i opted for the burger version. we started with the mushroom soup which was great in flavour with the mushrooms and onions, but a little too thin for a western cream soup. the chicken had a good flavour though not throughly marinated and a little dry as expected of breast meats.

the side dishes were great and i have no complaints. the fries were flavourful and crunchy, the cheese potato was also delicious! sauce used for the colesaw was also just right.

service was a little slow on that day, and also on another occasion that i went. perhaps it is that during the two times i went, it was the "offpeak" times.

all in all though i think they provide great value for what i would call authentic western food. it's a plus that they have student discounts too!

Other than the loyalty program, Botak jones has a couple of good offers in terms of it being value for money. Located near the MRT station, Sommerset, and opposite the new cool hangout place for youths, Scape, it is a convenient place for some hawker fanfare.

It is rather rare to find hawker food down at Orchard Road. The surrounding is one with an open aired location with the fresh (or polluted) air of Singapore. Sometimes when the air is too humid, it kind of gets on your nerves that there is no aircon available.

The food however, is of a different level of taste as compared to the other western cuisine found in Singapore. When I think of Botak Jones, I think of their Cajun Chicken. Even though there is a rather long waiting time for the food to arrive on your table after ordering, it just shows that they don’t pre-cook their food. The chicken is in a very generous portion, accompanied with chilli fries and cheese mashed potatoes. I shared it with my boy, but we were still pretty stuffed after finishing every bit of it.

I wouldn’t go back every other week, but once in a while would be nice. When I feel like I deserve a treat.

My experience at Botak Jones was mainly positive. My family and I went to the Depot branch for dinner and it was considered empty on a weekday evening. The location was quite secluded though, it was located amongst factories, so my guess is no one bothers to come all the way here for the food. It was the closest Botak Jones to my place though, so I thought why not?

We ordered Fish N Chips, Cajun Chicken, Lamb Chop and some others which I have forgot. Never mind about the ones which I have forgot, they are probably not as worthy of mentioning as the ones I remembered. The Fish N Chips is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I took a bite of Cajun Chicken that my sister offered me and it was delicious! It was tender and flavorful although the chicken part used was chicken breast meat. My youngest sister's lamb chop was so good for its price. I've had lamb chop double or triple the price and it was nowhere as good and flavourful as the one at Botak Jones. The lamb chop was generous in portion too!

There are a few side dishes for you to choose and I can't exactly remember what side dishes I had as my sisters chose them all. From what I remember, the side dishes were generous in portion too. You will definitely leave the place feeling satisfied while getting your Western fix at the same time.
