Nando seemed to be trending for a bit, few months back. Then, people were telling me it was as good as Kenny Roger's chicken and I just couldn't wait to try it! Kenny Rogers serves quality roasted chicken but could be a little bit costly.

Many told me that Nando's was the cheaper alternative that tastes just as good.

When I tried for the very first time -roasted chicken drizzled with Peri Peri sauce-, I could only conclude it was just.. average. The chicken was a measly part served on a large plate, garlic bread on the side. It looked a little pathetic.

They had a lot of sauces available at the condiment bar and I tried out every one of them in attempts to make my meal more satisfying. Unfortunately, they are more of an acquired taste. I couldn't get used to the foreign mix of spices in them.

It definitely is cheaper but I'd rather pay more for succulent and generous portions of chicken at Kenny Rogers.

Nandos made me sick of eating chicken

I went once to the Bugis outlet and never wanted to revisit again. Firstly, service was bad. I asked for warm water and they gave me boiling hot water that was steaming and almost scorched my tongue. Upon complaining about the water, the staff did not apologise but just returned with another glass of water.

I ordered a half chicken with 2 sides. The wedges were nice. It was unique and interesting how we can choose from the 4 flavours of chicken (based on how spicy) but I felt very sick and tired of eating the chicken because it was just chicken without anything else in it.

When I first went to Nandos, my friend was telling me about the warm water incident and I immediately had a bad impression of Nandos. A lot of my friends who've been there before have commented about how tasty the food is but it was a disappointment to me.

The chicken was just.. chicken. Without the sauce, there would be nothing special about it. It wasn't very cheap either and the portions are rather small. I would choose Astons over Nandos any time. Their sauces were also rather spicy and I couldn't take spice so the dining experience was rather unpleasant.

Perhaps Nandos could come up with some special sauces (other than tomato or chilli sauce because then I can cook up a Nandos meal at home too) to appeal to people who cannot take spice.

Famous for their chicken, and being a chicken meat lover, I had high expectations from Nando's. Well, they serve rather large portions, and do have a variety of sauces, but unfortunately I cannot take spicy food so most of the sauces were out of the question for me. Faced with this setback, I nevertheless forged on with my decision to try Nando's. I ended up not really enjoying my dinner there as the chicken meat was just that little bit too dry for my liking, and I found it difficult to finish. When you pride yourself on your meat, you have to make sure your meat is perfectly cooked, and Nando's failed to accomplish that.

Nandos is famous for their chicken where you can choose your own sauces and the level of spiciness in it. It was my first time there and I had to say that the whole decor of the place looks very convincing. The effort place into the decoration of the whole restaurant was highly evident.

We ordered a quarter of a chicken each and I chose the least spicy while my friend had a mid-spicy one. Mine was alright, nothing much to rave about. I was promptly disappointed because I had expected something much better. If the restaurant claims to specialize in chicken, then I believe I should be served a juicy and tasty chicken. Not a chicken that tasted like it came from a place with droughts all year round. I admit that it isn't easy to perfect a chicken, especially the chicken breast part, so I can forego that. But even the wing tasted dry to me. I didn't like it. My friend said that her spiciness was not enough for a spice lover like her, I think if you are really keen on trying something spicy, up the spice levels as I think they are pretty mild to start with.

For the price, I would not recommend this place for your chicken fix. The atmosphere is pretty good but when we go to a restaurant, I believe that we all want tasty food and not just a comfortable atmosphere. Of course, if a restaurant can do well in both aspects, then it would capture the customer's heart permanently.

I dined at Nando's at Jcube just this week on Monday. My friend urged me to try it as it has an interesting concept where you can choose the level of spiciness of your chicken.

The first impression I had of the restaurant was good. The design as ambience was all there and the menus looked different from each other with intricately penned playful graphic designs. The staff were also polite and responsive although they do not fill your cups for you out of initiative.

We both ordered a quarter chicken. I had the mild spicy one while my friend had the hot one.  Our food took about 10minutes to arrive so it wasn't a long wait. However, the food, despite looking quite delicious, tasted borderline. the mild spicy was as good as totally not spicy. In fact, the sauce was unevenly applied so when I ate the extremities of the chicken, like the skin off the bony end of the drumstick, it was so spicy! yet for the rest of the chicken, I tasted no spice at all.

We also tried all the sauces. Only the garlic sauce tasted normal to me. The rest were rather sour and strange but this could be my own personal preference.

I doubt I will dine here again.

The first time I went to Nando's is my last time. It was last year, when there was so much buzz about the newly opened Nando's at Plaza Singapura. There was simply a long queue outside it and my friend and I went with the flow. It turned out to be the most not-worthy $14 chicken (and it's only one eighth of the chicken, not even a quarter!) The chicken taste just like other chicken, it's just the sauce, and only the sauce. Okay, great, there are 4 different sauces, like the Peri-peri..so what? I am not there to eat just the sauce. On top of that, the sauce is not especially good. I would prefer fast food type of chili!

The service is also disappointing. We ordered for good half an hour before the food came. Not just that! The order was a bit different! I ordered A, they gave me B. It took a total of 45 minutes before I could enjoy my dinner! I was especially disappointed with Nando's cashier also. it took me a good 6 minutes standing in front of cashier without anybody attending. They kept asking me 'please wait' while the cashier went out to serve other customers. I was supposed to pay by nets, that's why I had to wait until the cashier came back to attend to me.

Overall, my experience with Nando's was not sweet at all. It could be different for others, but as for me, I would certainly object strongly to Nando's!

Nando's specialty is the sauces. There are 4 types varying in the intensity of their spice level. I always take the spiciest and even though it's hot and stings my tongue, I kept eating it as it's really nice. It's sour and has a special taste which I'm guessing comes from the herbs.

My choice of main course is always the quarter chicken which comes in two pieces. Sometimes I'd get the side dishes too. My two most frequent choices are the Spiced Rice and Peri Chips. I think there isn’t any one that wins the rest, so give all of them a try if you can and see which the one you like the most is! The chicken isn't too much and I wish they gave a bigger portion because it's not enough to fill me up. The sauce is the nicest part. I think the chicken is just okay but when coupled with the sauce, it's really nice. Actually I think all their food are just average but the sauce is what attracts people there.

It’s always filled with people though and I got tired of staying there real soon. Waiters kept shuffling about at our sides. One very bad thing at Nando’s is that they don’t serve water. You have to pay for a glass of water, which is probably taken straight from the tap! How ridiculous! I think it’s so horrible of them to not do the basic thing. The price of the water was unbelievable too: $3. This is so stupid.
