Unsatisfying Portion.

Their famous peri-peri chickens are good and have a unique taste that makes you want more; and with their small portion, you’d definitely want more. I enjoyed the chickens here but am disappointed at the portion they gave.

And while the chickens taste good, I honestly thought it wasn’t value for money. It wasn't just the portion, the chicken didn’t taste like a ten-dollar chicken and the ambience of the restaurant didn’t justify the cost of the meal either.

But the peri-peri chickens is definitely worth a try. It is one-of-a-kind.

Halal restaurants are not hard to find in Singapore, not too limited either, but sometimes I do wish that more restaurants could cater to the muslim community, so when I heard that Nando’s has joined the ranks of halal restaurants in Singapore (Yay, finally!), I wasted no time into giving my tummy some therapy.

I went to the branch at JCube and my first thought was that it had such a good ambience – the Mozambican – Portugese theme was unique! They always greet customers as well (though I can’t figure out what was it because of the language). If you think that their famous peri-peri chicken will be really spicy, don’t worry! You can choose your own “levels” of spicyness, from plain, to extra hot. I chose medium though I want to try out the extra hot the next time.

It was absolutely delicious! (I need a second to relive that mouth-watering moment). It was truly value for money; They even serve you with 2 side dishes of your choice, or 1 of the more expensive side dish. They also have a free flow of your drink if you do buy one. Isn’t that great?

So do come and give Nando’s a visit. I mean, offering affordable prices, a unique theme, and halal for the muslims, why not?

I am usually not a chicken eater, but ever since trying Nandos I have changed! I went there for the first time last year at Bugis Junction, to try out the seemingly famous chicken. I ordered the beef burger intially, and tried a little of the chicken from my friend and I was simply addicted! The chicken is marinated well, and is flavorsome and tender. The ambiance is also enjoyable as the restaurant has a Mexican theme to it. It is on the pricey side but the chicken in my opinion, is definitely worth it.The service is friendly and good and I will certainly go back for more!

I remember trying Nando's for the very first time last Christmas, and I can't stop going back ever since. For first timers, I strongly recommend the lemon and herb level for the chicken. Not because it is the least spciy out of all levels, but it really is the juiciest. I have tried the other spicier levels, but found the chicken rather dry. More disappointingly, they were hardly of any kick. Hence, I would rather stick to the basics, and enjoy the texture and taste of the chicken.

However, I am not a fan of their side dishes, as they were mostly bland, except for the french fries and grilled veggies. If you still have room for desserts, give the chocolate biscuits a try!

The first time i had Nando's was with my mum and sis. We went to the outlet at Bugis Junction and it was packed with people. We were intrigued to explore the menu because i had heard good rumours about the place and they were also at that time, having a family set meal which was ranged from around $30+ to $50+. Since there were only the 3 of us, we took the family set for 2-3 people.

We were ushered in by a friendly waitress who had us seated comfortably at a table for four. Immediately our orders were taken and drinks were served (these drinks came with the set meal).

Surprisingly we didn't wait long before our food came. We had a huge bowl of fresh portuguese salad that came with a portuguese dressing. The salad was fresh & it was a refreshing change as compared to the usual Caesar salad almost every restaurant had but i would've loved it more if the dressing had more vinegar in it. I prefer french dressing. Call me biased but that's what i love my greens with! Small bowls of the potato salad (creamy and every potato chunk was perfectly coated with the mayo & sauce), peri-peri wedges (crispy and chunky tossed with peri-peri spicy powder), meditarranean rice (was too dry and definitely not something we would order again), 1/2 mild peri-peri chicken (not spicy) and 1/2 lemon & herb chicken (delicious).

The service was really, really good despite the huge crowd the restaurant had to handle. We were pleased with everything and the staff even had the initiative to split all the proportions of the food into 3 each time it was necessary because they knew we were sharing among ourselves. Best part was when we realized the set we ordered was supposed to have only 2 drinks, but they served us 3 glasses! That was a really sweet and unexpected gesture.

We left with a warm, full tummy and glowing with nothing but praises for their food and wonderful service.

The second time i visited Nando's was at the new outlet at JCube (Jurong East), this time with my friends. Food was so-so, service was horrible, most of the customers were left to their own devices and in a bad way. Also didn't like the fact that our view from the table was the ice-skating rink. Not my scene watching people fall while i eat my dinner. It might have been a laugh at other times! Simply put, we left sorely disappointed and vowing never to eat there again.

Such a contrast from the Bugis outlet. I must say that if you would want to try Nando's, go to the one at Bugis. Better quality, better service, staff, ambiance, just... better everything!

I had heard a lot about Nando's and was really looking forward to celebrating my classmate's birthday there last weekend. My first impression was that the ambience and atmosphere was suitable for a relaxed dinner and we had made the right choice. The menu seems quite inflexible to me though as all ten of us had to get the chicken ( which is what it's famous for in the first place). That did not go down well with some but we went ahead with it anyway. I loved the caesar and portuguese salads and the jug of citrus drink we had ordered. The chicken was too dry and definitely too spicy on its own so few of us dared to try the dangerous-looking sauces. Service was alright. I would rate it down for the food and the price we paid was also not justified.

I love grilled chicken! I was pleased to know that Nandos have decided to branch out to Singapore as I loved their grilled chicken. Tried Nandos when I was overseas many years back and I had missed it so. Contrary to what most people order, I always ask for the breast portion as I do not think that it is too dry. After all they do have their lovely sauces on every table. I am a fan of all their sauces – from the non-spicy one to the spiciest option. Not ashamed to say, but I am able to use up to almost half of a bottle of sauce at each visit. If you love the spicy salty sauce as much as me, they do sell the bottled sauces. Other then chicken, their fries are really good too as they have a light coat of seasoning.

So far all my visits, I had experience good service although do be a bit patient when it comes to weekend especially during dinner time. I especially love the branch at Tanglin Mall as it is spacious and not as crowded as the other branches.

Nandos is still one of my favourite place when I am craving for chicken and a good serving of their sauces. Will definitely come back again ... and again.

The first time I saw Nando's outlet was at Plaza SINGAPURA. I just passed by and never thought of dining in there ; until one day I told myself 'maybe I should try' because everyone is talking about its 'peri peri' which is the well known spices that they used in their cooking.

The moment my family and I stepped into the restaurant, the lady assisted us to our seats. Menu was given and we looked through the menu, confused. There are different kinds of side dishes all over the menu, with chicken as the main dish.

As it was our first time dining in there, we had no idea how the menu works so we asked for assistance from one of the staff. She was very friendly and she explained how the main dish and side dishes go together. On top of that, we can choose the level of the spiciness of the Peri peri.

So basically, the main dish is roasted chicken, you can choose how much chicken you want and in addition, 2 side dishes per person. Yes, rather confusing when looking from the menu.

I was also surprised that they did not serve any plain water because I feel that it is quite decent to serve water as complimentary drink because the food is quite spicy.

The pricing is fine to me, it ranges from $20 and above per person, depending on any additional ala carte ordered. I would not mind patronizing this restaurant again because the food is still great.
But it will be great if they could serve water as a compliment to the diners.
