Halal restaurants are not hard to find in Singapore, not too limited either, but sometimes I do wish that more restaurants could cater to the muslim community, so when I heard that Nando’s has joined the ranks of halal restaurants in Singapore (Yay, finally!), I wasted no time into giving my tummy some therapy.

I went to the branch at JCube and my first thought was that it had such a good ambience – the Mozambican – Portugese theme was unique! They always greet customers as well (though I can’t figure out what was it because of the language). If you think that their famous peri-peri chicken will be really spicy, don’t worry! You can choose your own “levels” of spicyness, from plain, to extra hot. I chose medium though I want to try out the extra hot the next time.

It was absolutely delicious! (I need a second to relive that mouth-watering moment). It was truly value for money; They even serve you with 2 side dishes of your choice, or 1 of the more expensive side dish. They also have a free flow of your drink if you do buy one. Isn’t that great?

So do come and give Nando’s a visit. I mean, offering affordable prices, a unique theme, and halal for the muslims, why not?

Unsatisfying Portion.

Their famous peri-peri chickens are good and have a unique taste that makes you want more; and with their small portion, you’d definitely want more. I enjoyed the chickens here but am disappointed at the portion they gave.

And while the chickens taste good, I honestly thought it wasn’t value for money. It wasn't just the portion, the chicken didn’t taste like a ten-dollar chicken and the ambience of the restaurant didn’t justify the cost of the meal either.

But the peri-peri chickens is definitely worth a try. It is one-of-a-kind.

The first time I went to Nando's is my last time. It was last year, when there was so much buzz about the newly opened Nando's at Plaza Singapura. There was simply a long queue outside it and my friend and I went with the flow. It turned out to be the most not-worthy $14 chicken (and it's only one eighth of the chicken, not even a quarter!) The chicken taste just like other chicken, it's just the sauce, and only the sauce. Okay, great, there are 4 different sauces, like the Peri-peri..so what? I am not there to eat just the sauce. On top of that, the sauce is not especially good. I would prefer fast food type of chili!

The service is also disappointing. We ordered for good half an hour before the food came. Not just that! The order was a bit different! I ordered A, they gave me B. It took a total of 45 minutes before I could enjoy my dinner! I was especially disappointed with Nando's cashier also. it took me a good 6 minutes standing in front of cashier without anybody attending. They kept asking me 'please wait' while the cashier went out to serve other customers. I was supposed to pay by nets, that's why I had to wait until the cashier came back to attend to me.

Overall, my experience with Nando's was not sweet at all. It could be different for others, but as for me, I would certainly object strongly to Nando's!

When I first went to Nandos, my friend was telling me about the warm water incident and I immediately had a bad impression of Nandos. A lot of my friends who've been there before have commented about how tasty the food is but it was a disappointment to me.

The chicken was just.. chicken. Without the sauce, there would be nothing special about it. It wasn't very cheap either and the portions are rather small. I would choose Astons over Nandos any time. Their sauces were also rather spicy and I couldn't take spice so the dining experience was rather unpleasant.

Perhaps Nandos could come up with some special sauces (other than tomato or chilli sauce because then I can cook up a Nandos meal at home too) to appeal to people who cannot take spice.

I walked into Nando's with a certain level of expectation as it seemed like a rather promising restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not being met.

I ordered the Angry Mango Burger, which is basically a grilled chicken burger with diced mango. The chicken was fine, but I felt that the flavour of the mango overwhelmed the taste of the chicken. There was also too much mango topping, to a point where it constantly kept spilling out with every bite. The bun became soft due to the mango sauce and that is the one thing you never want to find in your burger - soggy bread.

The meal came with sides - I chose the coleslaw and fries. The fries tasted good, it was thick yet crispy at the same time. The coleslaw, however, was a bit too dry for my liking and was cut into pretty huge chunks. Given the option, I would have probably changed my coleslaw for the potato salad. I had a bite of my friend's and it tasted pretty decent.

The ambience of the restaurant was alright. It was pretty cramped during dinner hours but they somehow managed to make the place comfortable. The staff were also friendly and allowed us to change seats as it was too cold. Despite this, I would not recommend this place to anyone as I do not feel that the quality of the food justified the prices.

The best chicken in town

Nandos has been a personal favourite of mine for a substantial amount of time, and with good reason. their food is simply to die for. The chicken which is probably what they're best known for has to take the crown for the best out there. It's even flavoured and not too dry, despite being grilled. They allow you to chose your degree of spiciness and I like the extra hot one. It can be quite a challenge some times, which you can guess by it's name, but it's so good that you really wouldn't be able to say no.

Their prices are also pretty reasonable. If you get a set meal, it comes with the main dish and 2 side dishes. I usually get the mediterranean rice as one of my sides and it does a pretty good job of filling me up. Within $20 per person, you'll easily be able to get a snazzy drink and a main dish with 2 sides. I think that that's a reasonable price to pay, especially because their portions are quite generous.

My friends had said to me “Nandos chicken damn good!”. So I went to Nandos wanting to see what the fuss is all about. Oh boy they were right! Nandos, a Mozambique- Portuguese fast food chain, sells chicken with special sauces called peri-peri.

The chicken I got in Nandos was nicely grilled and seasoned well. It wasn’t to dry and quite tender. In Nandos, you can choose between 4 different peri-peri sauces, each with varying spiciness levels. As always with me, I went with the spiciest option. The sauce is simply superb and blended nicely with the chicken. Their potato wedges are tasty as well but the chicken is definitely the highlight.

The prices in Nandos tend to be on the high side at average 20-25 bucks per head. The atmosphere is relaxing and calm and generally the service quite good. Overall, expect good food, good service and nice atmosphere in Nandos.

I had my first taste experience in Australia, and I must say, I'm hooked! Their chicken was grilled to perfection. Throw in a bowl of peri-peri chips on the side of their famous Hot sauce, I've died and gone to heaven.

I was stoked when I heard they are opening and expanding their business to Singapore. I popped by their Bugis branch and was clearly impressed. The setting of the restaurant was based upon their Mozambique-Portugese cuisine. The juicy chicken tasted amazing with the peri-peri sauce and their potato wedges were superb. But the added bonus that made me come back for more was the bottomless drink. Service was excellent too.

Overall, I give them a two thumbs up.

I love grilled chicken! I was pleased to know that Nandos have decided to branch out to Singapore as I loved their grilled chicken. Tried Nandos when I was overseas many years back and I had missed it so. Contrary to what most people order, I always ask for the breast portion as I do not think that it is too dry. After all they do have their lovely sauces on every table. I am a fan of all their sauces – from the non-spicy one to the spiciest option. Not ashamed to say, but I am able to use up to almost half of a bottle of sauce at each visit. If you love the spicy salty sauce as much as me, they do sell the bottled sauces. Other then chicken, their fries are really good too as they have a light coat of seasoning.

So far all my visits, I had experience good service although do be a bit patient when it comes to weekend especially during dinner time. I especially love the branch at Tanglin Mall as it is spacious and not as crowded as the other branches.

Nandos is still one of my favourite place when I am craving for chicken and a good serving of their sauces. Will definitely come back again ... and again.

The first time i had Nando's was with my mum and sis. We went to the outlet at Bugis Junction and it was packed with people. We were intrigued to explore the menu because i had heard good rumours about the place and they were also at that time, having a family set meal which was ranged from around $30+ to $50+. Since there were only the 3 of us, we took the family set for 2-3 people.

We were ushered in by a friendly waitress who had us seated comfortably at a table for four. Immediately our orders were taken and drinks were served (these drinks came with the set meal).

Surprisingly we didn't wait long before our food came. We had a huge bowl of fresh portuguese salad that came with a portuguese dressing. The salad was fresh & it was a refreshing change as compared to the usual Caesar salad almost every restaurant had but i would've loved it more if the dressing had more vinegar in it. I prefer french dressing. Call me biased but that's what i love my greens with! Small bowls of the potato salad (creamy and every potato chunk was perfectly coated with the mayo & sauce), peri-peri wedges (crispy and chunky tossed with peri-peri spicy powder), meditarranean rice (was too dry and definitely not something we would order again), 1/2 mild peri-peri chicken (not spicy) and 1/2 lemon & herb chicken (delicious).

The service was really, really good despite the huge crowd the restaurant had to handle. We were pleased with everything and the staff even had the initiative to split all the proportions of the food into 3 each time it was necessary because they knew we were sharing among ourselves. Best part was when we realized the set we ordered was supposed to have only 2 drinks, but they served us 3 glasses! That was a really sweet and unexpected gesture.

We left with a warm, full tummy and glowing with nothing but praises for their food and wonderful service.

The second time i visited Nando's was at the new outlet at JCube (Jurong East), this time with my friends. Food was so-so, service was horrible, most of the customers were left to their own devices and in a bad way. Also didn't like the fact that our view from the table was the ice-skating rink. Not my scene watching people fall while i eat my dinner. It might have been a laugh at other times! Simply put, we left sorely disappointed and vowing never to eat there again.

Such a contrast from the Bugis outlet. I must say that if you would want to try Nando's, go to the one at Bugis. Better quality, better service, staff, ambiance, just... better everything!
