UNIQLO is wrapping up 2025 with a special collaboration with the childhood favourite Japanese toy, Tamagotchi. They’ll be launching an all-new UT collection – along with some other special treats – in commemoration of Tamagotchi’s 30th anniversary. Here’s everything you need to know about the UNIQLO x Tamagotchi collab.
Kids who grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s will know this iconic gadget, but here’s a quick rundown for anyone who missed the wave.
The Tamagotchi is a handheld digital toy first launched in 1996 by Bandai, a renowned toy manufacturer and distributor in Japan. Users are tasked with caring for a virtual pet by feeding it, cleaning up after it, and playing mini-games. What makes it stand out is that there are real consequences. If you don’t look after it properly, your little buddy can kick the bucket, sometimes even from old age.
You’ll easily recognise it by its egg-shaped shell, which comes in a range of designs and colours. And thanks to the renewed love for all things Y2K, the Tamagotchi has found its way back into pop culture.

The collaboration will officially launch on 15th December 2025 in Singapore, both online and in stores. So if you’re eyeing this as a Christmas gift, you’ll want to mark your calendar and snag it fast.
Those who are familiar with UNIQLO’s UT collection will remember their collaborations with a variety of pop culture icons – their recent THE MONSTERS drop featuring Labubu probably still lives rent-free in your head. This new release is no different, following the same hype-worthy formula by offering Women’s UT T-shirts for $19.90 each, with sizes ranging from XS to 3XL.
There are 4 colours to choose from – black, white, purple, and light grey – and each one incorporates unique Tamagotchi motifs. Among the designs, you’ll be able to spot characters from the game – Ginjirotchi, Kuchipatchi, Mametchi, Mimitchi, and Pochitchi.

The white shirt features the very first Tamagotchi on the front as a fun nod to the toy’s origins, complete with a special appearance by Kuchipatchi on the screen.

The other 3 UTs feature designs on the fronts and backs of the shirt, blending UNIQLO’s classic minimalist style with recognisable icons from the game, like the Tamagotchi egg that your pet hatches from.
The fun doesn’t stop at the T-shirts. UNIQLO has created its own UT Original Tamagotchi ($39.90). The design and packaging pay homage to the first-generation Tamagotchi toys, and it features the original game system released in the West in 1996 – essentially making it a “GEN 1” Tamagotchi. If you’re feeling nostalgic, grab one as a keepsake or use it to accessorise your bag as a charm – just like the kids are doing these days.
While awaiting the release of the collab, try out the special mini game they’ve launched on the UNIQLO x Tamagotchi website, where you’ll also get to browse the upcoming apparel before trying your hand at the “Tamago Catch” game.

It’s really simple – all you have to do is toggle left and right to help Mametchi catch falling items and food. Each item gives you different points, but make sure to avoid the obstacles, or you’ll lose lives. Challenge your friends and see who can last the longest.
Heads up: the game works best on mobile.
In this digital era, it’s nice to throw it back to the days of quirky gadgets and simple joys. These moments of nostalgia add a little spark to everyday life, so here’s hoping this iconic collab brings a dose of holiday cheer to your festive season.
