Lazarus Island’s Tiny Home Escape Is Winding Down, But Bookings Are Still Open Till Jan 2027

Tiny Away Escape at Lazarus Island

While most Singaporeans like our BTOs big, the rest of the world has been riding a “tiny home living” trend. Sounds familiar? Chances are, you’ve scrolled past videos titled “Smallest Loft In New York” or “Living In A Tiny Home On Wheels” on YouTube. Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island brought the trend to Singapore’s shores, offering an off-the-grid overnight experience on Lazarus Island.

A concept hotel of sorts, this project by Sentosa Development Corporation and local company Big Tiny featured rooms as small as 150sqft, which is less than half the size of a 2-room HDB. Less than 4 years after its May 2023 launch, the concept is winding down, with stays bookable up to 31st January 2027.

In a city where land is scarce, it’s no surprise that going big is the dream. Tiny homes, on the contrary, proffer the concept that you don’t really need a lot of space to live happily. Tiny Away Escape@Lazarus Island features 5 units spanning between 150-175sqft in size, with everything you need for a cosy island getaway.

Every room here sports a unique theme, from colonial to industrial.

Within each unit, you can find a living space, a bed, and even a kitchenette. The walls are also fitted with large one-way mirrors that stretch from floor to ceiling, making the most of the island views.

The concept offers a taste of off-grid living, with cabins built to run sustainably on solar energy. Food waste is recycled through biodigesters to be turned into compost, toiletries are biodegradable, and sustainably sourced building materials are repurposed for future tiny houses.

When is Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island closing?

If a Lazarus Island getaway has been sitting on your bucket list, now’s the time to finally tick it off. Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island announced on 27th March 2026 that the last available bookings will be on 31st January 2027, as their fixed concession agreement with Sentosa Development Corporation draws to a close.

Big Tiny has also hinted that they’d be keen on returning to Singapore when a new opportunity arises. In the meantime, the team continues to run escapes across Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Europe and beyond.

What else can you do on Lazarus Island?

For those still keen on an overnight stay on the island, Into The Woods offers beachfront glamping across 9 boutique tents, split across couple and family options. It’s pet-friendly, comes with sea views, and has a communal lodge stocked with books and board games for when you want to fully unplug.

Active visitors would also enjoy the Lazarus Sea Sports Centre, with water activities from $20, such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and even sea cycling. Bicycle and kick scooter rentals are also available from the GoGreen @ Lazarus Island kiosk from $25 for 2 hours.

For something more low-key, the Glasshouse is an air-conditioned multi-purpose space right by the sea, available for events and wedding bookings too.

Catch Tiny Away Escape @ Lazarus Island before it’s gone

While it’s certainly not for everyone, minimalists and beach lovers will probably agree that this concept on Lazarus Island has been pretty exciting. If you’re looking for one last rugged weekend getaway before it closes, make sure to get your bookings in before 31st Jan 2027.

Getting there: Take a short boat ride from Sentosa Jetty @Cove (from $20 for a round-trip) or read our guide to island hopping from Marina South Pier.
