We’ve got yet another POP MART-themed attraction to visit before we close out 2025. This time, the ultra-chic SKULLPANDA takes centre stage in the SKULLPANDA CAGE-UNCAGE Singapore exhibition, and boy is it especially thought-provoking, yet hauntingly stunning.
Set up in conjunction with the National Museum of Singapore, the exhibition invites all to ruminate about the notion of being metaphorically caged, by imposing physical boundaries on various SKULLPANDA-fronted displays. For instance, within a boxed up shelter outside the museum stand 3 hulking, porcelain-white SKULLPANDA sculptures that greet visitors.
Head on inside, and you’ll find a couple of artistic installations that amplifies the pensive mood. These include The Room, which features 2 huge SKULLPANDA models surrounded by an infinite expanse of mirror reflections, as well as the Fortune display’s pockmarked cabinet that houses the dreamy character in a limbo-like slumber.
It wouldn’t be an authentic POP MART experience if we didn’t get to bring home a keepsake or 2, so drop by the exhibition’s retail zone before you go. It’s stocked with SKULLPANDA goodies such as t-shirts ($39.90), and key chains ($18.90), but the holy grail will have to be the exhibition-exclusive -Cage-Uncage plush doll ($39.90).
