The Cetaphil Experience Part 1
If there is one thing we could all use, it would surely be a short getaway – there’s nothing like a relaxing massage at a resort to ease the tired spirit. But while we are helping our bodies and minds rejuvenate, there’s something we often neglect: our skin. We may be young and rosy now, but without proper care, the results of constant late nights are eventually going to show on our faces.
Along with 26 other bloggers from all over the region including Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines, we were flown to the beautiful Karma Kandara cliffside resort in Bali for The Cetaphil Experience – a peaceful 4-day retreat where we chilled and learnt how to give our skin only the best.
Four of us from Singapore shared a luxurious villa which came with a private pool and cabana – talk about #vacationgoals! The pampering did not stop there – delectable meals of cod, steak, and salmon, along with spa sessions overlooking the sea made for ultimate shiokness.
Indulgences aside, another highlight of the trip would be what I learnt about my skin and the significance of skin confidence in our lives. Many of us take our skin for granted, so the importance of taking good care of it is often overlooked. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those with a staggering 10-15 steps to their skincare routine. I was therefore curious to find out if there is an ideal number of skincare steps.
Here are some takeaways from the skin experts during the workshops at The Cetaphil Experience:
1. A mere 3 steps to your skincare routine is enough to maintain healthy skin
Contrary to popular belief, having more skincare steps might not necessarily lead to better skin. According to Tracy Chean, Regulatory Affairs Manager at Galderma South East Asia, the key to good skin instead depends on understanding your skin well and having good knowledge about the ingredients in your products. In fact, she added that no matter what skin type you have, just using a face wash, moisturiser, and sunscreen is more than enough to obtain vibrant looking skin.
2. Know the ingredients that go into your products
As mentioned above, knowing what goes into your skincare products is of grave importance. Some commonly used ingredients that could cause skin irritation include alcohol, fragrance, and sodium lauryl sulfate – try to avoid buying products that include these if your face is prone to sensitivity.
Tip: Less is more – the fewer the ingredients, the less likely you will suffer a negative reaction.
3. Higher SPF sunscreens does not mean better protection
Most people are unaware of the fact that there are two types of sunrays:
UVA: penetrates deep into the epidermis and leads to premature wrinkles.
UVB: burns off superficial layers of the skin and causes sunburns and skin cancer.
SPF only measures protection from UVB rays. Find yourself a sunscreen that helps guard against both – those can be identified with SPF and PA ratings.
With Cetaphil’s SPF 50+ sunscreen that protects you from both UVA and UVB rays!
4. Be confident about yourself!
While looks aren’t everything, skin confidence is an important aspect of a woman’s life – when we look good, we feel good, and the confidence boost helps us take on daily challenges better and achieve our goals to our fullest potential. Time to level up your skincare routine today – after all, we all deserve to be comfortable in our own skin.
Thank you Cetaphil for this amazing experience and the friends that I made during this much-needed getaway.
