Square 2 Christmas Deals

square 2

As we begin the countdown to Christmas, the voice telling you to check off your to-do list gets ever louder. Buy gifts! Arrange meet-ups! Schedule that beauty appointment to look great at the party!

It can get a little, just a little, overwhelming. But head down to Square 2 at Novena, and you’ll find just the right mix of shops to get you sorted. Pick up accessories to gift a loved one, get camera-ready with a facial or plan for a festive get-together at one of their restaurants – the possibilities are endless.

In the spirit of giving, Square 2 will also be giving away $5 Far East Malls Vouchers to TSL readers this Christmas with no minimum spend! So the next time you’re making your shopping rounds, think beyond town and head a few MRT stops down to Novena instead.

Here’s what’s in store for you:

Uncle Kiisu – for big group outings that’ll earn you the title of best planner

The IG-worthy decor of Uncle Kiisu (#02-65) beckoned us in, but it was the quirky fusion of Japanese, Western and Peranakan cuisine that made us stay.

Here, we had a feast of gargantuan mains such as the #TheWharf ($18.80) – a laksa-inspired dish with soft shell crab, and #ChahanUnagi ($21.80) – aromatic rice topped with a very generous Unagi slice respectively.

sambal kuro ribs

Our carnivorous friend also devoured the #SambalKuroRibs ($9.80), ribs glazed with buah keluak sauce for a distinct Peranakan touch. For those with smaller appetites, we recommend their unique sides such as youtiao bruschetta, fries with squid ink and their refreshing twist on kueh pie tee

mythical chawanmushi

There’s also the #MythicalChawanmushi ($3.80), so named for the fantastical “unicorn” jelly crowned atop a sea of ikura roe. Dig in and be treated to an instant burst of flavour, as the truffle-infused jelly melts into the steamed egg custard, a perfect pairing to the hotate (scallop) in the dish.

Uncle Kiisu’s wallet-friendly prices, Instagrammable dishes and generous portions will definitely earn you major points among your friends and family if you suggest it as a dining venue!

Ja’zz De Luxe – for affordable facials and $10 lash perms to look great in an instant

jazz de luxe

It’s no secret that we want to look our best during the festive season. But after spending quite a tidy sum on gifting, we just can’t afford to splurge on expensive beauty treatments.

Enter Ja’zz De Luxe (#03-83) which offers the BB Glow Facial at just $18. It promises to rejuvenate your tired skin (blame all that OT) so that your complexion is radiant once again.

You can also score $10 lash perms if you download and flash the ShopFarEast app. Considering most lash perms go for above $30, this is one ridiculously good deal. Say “hello” to peepers rimmed with curved, fluttery lashes that’ll make you look wide awake and as if you’re wearing mascara 24/7.

Tip: if you work around the area, you can pop in during lunch for a quick beauty boost as the sessions last only 20-30 minutes.

Awfully Chocolate – for gorgeous cakes to bring to your festive party

Cakes are a staple of any celebration, and Awfully Chocolate (#01-14) should be no stranger to anyone who loves decadent chocolate-laden ones.

This Christmas, they’ve got your backs when it comes to ordering cakes that will leave everyone cooing at the dinner table. Behold seasonal specials like Creme Brûlée, Black Forest and Salted Caramel Chocolate cake (all $98 each for 2kg)

These aren’t just pretty on the outside – the insides are packed with gorgeous layers too. Think fresh white chocolate cream sandwiched between dark chocolate in a salted caramel swirl.

dress code – for quirky Korean dresses to stand out at outings

In this festive season, you might be rushing from one appointment to another. So, it’s imperative that your outfit fits all dress codes, looks unique and is hopefully not a tight number that will reveal those bumps after one too many rich Christmas feasts.

dress code

Sounds like a tall order? Well, not at dress code (#02-70), a quirky boutique that is packed with Korean-inspired dresses. Here, the dresses are high-quality and boast intriguing cuts and prints that will ensure you never look cookie-cutter. From vintage to bohemian styles, they’ve got it all.

We’re also digging the colourful accessories here. From retro headbands to exquisite earrings, these are sure to spruce up your outfit. We can already hear the “Wow, where did you get these?” questions headed your way.
