We love a good deal, and we know you do too. So we’re here to tell you about Karang Guni Day at Sing Lit Station, happening this weekend, where you can take home as many books as you can fit in your bag. Here’s everything you need to know about this lobang before you make your way down:

In case you’ve never heard of them, Sing Lit Station is a charity that serves the local literary community, creating a safe space and providing a platform for both writers and readers alike. It was founded in 2016 by SingLit figures Joshua Ip and Qilin Yam, as well as Englishman Jon Gresham, who’s lived in Singapore and Thailand for the last 19 years.
And if you haven’t already heard, you’ll soon be able to purchase SingLit books using your SG Culture Pass credits.
Karang Guni Day will take place this Saturday and Sunday, 7th-8th February 2026, from 10am to 6pm, at Sing Lit Station.
Sing Lit Station can be found at 22 Dickson Road, just a short 3-minute walk from Jalan Besar MRT Station.
It’s been almost a decade since Sing Lit Station began operations; recent times have seen them declutter their office – unearthing what they say are “rare and unloved literary gems”, which will soon be up for grabs at Karang Guni Day.
Here comes the most important part: how to get those books. And no, there aren’t any strings attached, except for a tax-deductible $25 donation.
All you’ll have to do is turn up and fill your bag with as many books as you can stuff into it.
There’s no catalogue of what will be available at Karang Guni Day, but according to Sing Lit Station’s post on their Instagram page, there are games, comics and other oddities, apart from the literary gems mentioned earlier.
Since the size of your bag is the only limit in place, it’s important to note that everything is while stocks last, on a first-come, first-served basis.
SingLit lovers, here’s as good a chance as any to get a head start on your 2026 reading challenge goals. What’s not to love about free books?
