The March holidays are here and for many of you lucky students, that means a week’s break from hectic schoolwork. By now you’re probably searching for something that’ll make friends watching your IG stories go “Wah where’s this?”.
Even if you’re not a student, you can definitely be on the hunt for some fun too. So if you’re looking for something fresh and exciting to do this week, Sentosa’s FunFest 2018 has the perfect array of activities for both friends and families.
We all know the drill when it comes to bouncy castles – Once you’re above the age of 12, you’re automatically deemed too old for them. But FunFest’s Mega Inflatable Playground breaks that unspoken rule.
Race your friends down the 50 meter-long Aquaplane, best described as an upgraded slip-and-slide. With a slope to build up momentum for the plunge, alongside sprinklers lining the path, we definitely got our adrenaline-kick from gliding fast and far on this one.
For a one-of-a-kind photo op, take a leap onto their Sticky Wall. Clad in a velcro suit, you’ll be “stuck” on the inflatable wall as the life-action photo booth captures wacky poses that you’ll never be able to recreate elsewhere – challenge your friends to see who can do the craziest!
With 10 different activities offered, including Bumpy Bouncer and a Foam Pool, you won’t be short of things to do at Funfest. And the best part? Everything is free.
Note: Children below 1.2m must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Minimum height: 0.9m, Maximum weight: 100kg.
If you’re just as huge a fan of Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears (WBB) as much as I am, you’d probably be beary excited to know that the three bear brothers – Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear – will be making an appearance this week at Sentosa. And no, not just a couple of them but over 300 inflatable bears will line Palawan Beach.
Now’s your chance to immerse yourself in a mass of these cuties if that’s something you’ve always wanted to do. You can hug them, or simply take photos with them.
And if you’d like to complete your WBB-full day with a bang, head down to Palawan Green at night to catch screenings of the We Bare Bears cartoon series by the beach.

Heads up to all adrenaline seekers: You can now fly at Sentosa. Yep, my lifelong dream of flying has now turned into a reality with Ola Beach Club’s water-propelled Jetblade Thrill.
It’s kind of like wakeboarding, just taken it up a notch – quite literally. With only a water-propelled hoverboard strapped to your feet in the middle of the sea, you’ll be sent to heights of up to 15m, depending on your sense of balance. There’s nothing else to support you in the air so you can think of it as walking on stilts, just on water instead.
If you prefer a less intense sport, take a donut ride instead. All you’ve got to do is hold on tight, and by that I mean real tight because the boat will pull you at speeds of up to 30km/h.
Ola Beach Club
Price:
Jetblade Thrill: $198/45 minute lesson
Donut Ride: $25/pax for 15mins
Venue: Siloso Beach
After all that jet-pack fun, it’s no surprise that our stomachs were growling. Thankfully, right along the coasts of Siloso Beach was AJ’s Bar & Beach Dining for us to satisfy our hunger pangs without having to walk a distance.
For mains, the chef’s recommendations included Sous Vide Salmon ($29.90) and Grilled Chicken Breast ($21.90). The cream sauce complimented the salmon with a smooth finish, while the chicken breast was extremely tender. Both dishes were an absolute hit with us!
But if you’re up for some light tapas by the beach instead of a full meal, you could opt for some thinly sliced Medium Cooked Roast Beef ($12.90) which wasn’t too tough or chewy – cooked to the perfect consistency. And we all know how everyone’s obsessed with Taiwanese beef cubes these days, so pick up some Teriyaki Beef Cubes ($12.90) which places a Japanese touch on the classic Taiwanese snack.
If you’re looking to take a dip while sipping on some drinks or just enjoy the chill beach vibes, take a seat at one of their outdoor cabanas beside the pool. Alternatively, you can head up to level 2 for a cosy dining space.
Pick up a drink to cool you down under the hot sun. From left to right: Citrus Mojito ($9.50), Virgin Margarita ($9.50) , AJ’s Paradise ($15)
For those who’ve played till dusk, spice up your dinner with a BBQ by The Beach. There’s no need to fuss about with preparing the food or cooking it – everything’s done for you. Just sit back and indulge in the barbequed spread, which includes some hearty Black Angus sirloin steak, skewered tiger prawns and more.
