In a time when even regulars on a guestlist can’t get into a club, slipping on the PUMA Mirage Tech shoes is the closest thing we’ll get to dancing under flashing lights. The sneaker was brought back from PUMA’s archives and given a modern facelift inspired by the lights, energy, and atmosphere of nightclubs and electronic dance music festivals.
But it’s not just another shoe for sneakerheads to add to their collection; its comfort and lightweight design also makes it suitable for everyday use.
P.S. Keep reading to find out how you can cop this drip and get 20% off PUMA lifestyle apparel at the same time!
The PUMA Mirage was first introduced way back in the 1970s as a running shoe, and then reintroduced again in the 1990s as a jogging shoe. More than 20 years later today, PUMA is bringing back the iconic silhouette with a worldwide campaign starring DJ Snake, best known for his songs Turn Down For What and Let Me Love You that has been played by every club worth their salt.
The updated design of the Mirage Tech ($159) is also anything but basic. It was inspired by the modern era of EDM festivals and the DJs that pump out club bangers. Think bold, trippy colours with layered textures that look like the lasers at Zouk and Ultra Singapore.
The Mirage Tech sneaker sports retro colours with a futuristic design
The compression-moulded material of the shoe makes it lightweight and comfortable for revelers to dance away till the sun rises, and the springy sole will keep you jumping to every beat drop in the club.
Currently there is only one colour combination of an electro green with a cornflower blue, but a sister sneaker, the Mirage Mox Vision Trainers, has two more colourways with bold, funky shades. The Mirage Tech will also have more colourways coming out later in the year, so keep your eyes out for the drops.
You don’t need an expensive turntable to be a DJ – you can make your own beats too with PUMA’s “Foot Tapping” Instagram filter mini-game.
When you launch the filter on your IG stories, you’ll be immediately transported to a virtual world where you’re on the podium. A base track created by regional DJs Inquisitive (Singapore), KILD (Malaysia), and Yusef (Indonesia) will also be playing in the background to help you get started.
You’ll be given three types of sound samples to play around with, and they are controlled by turning your head to either the left, middle, or right.
Each turn will trigger the respective beatpads for a sound, so the whole Instagram story would have you intensely headbanging. Except instead of jamming out to a hard rock track, you’re creating your own piece of music through Instagram.
If you need inspiration for beats, you can check out this music video starring PUMA Southeast Asia ambassador Tosh Rock dancing to a track created by regional DJs Inquisitive, Kild, and Yusef.
There’s much more at stake though: whoever creates the best beats will also win a pair of the new PUMA Mirage Tech shoes worth $159!
This contest will be hosted on DJ Inquisitive’s Instagram page from the 1st to 14th April. All you have to do is tag @Inquisitive on your post and include the hashtag #PUMAFootTapping. Winners will be announced on 15th April 2021.

To celebrate the launch of the new Mirage Tech, PUMA is offering a 20% discount on all PUMA lifestyle apparel at their stores. All you have to do to qualify for this deal is to purchase any regular-priced lifestyle shoe (including the new Mirage Tech) and show screenshots of you and their new Foot Tapping Instagram filter.
This is a prime opportunity to get some new clothes to complement the retro-yet-futuristic aesthetics of the Mirage Tech sneakers.
This promotion ends on 14th April 2021, and can only be redeemed at the following PUMA stores: Jewel, ION Orchard, Bugis+, VivoCity, Paragon, Suntec City, Century Square, JEM, United Square, and Marina Bay Sands.
The fact that the PUMA Mirage sneaker’s aesthetics can last for almost half a century speaks volumes of its timelessness. And its new streetwear-focused update is the perfect revamp for all the hypebeasts and hypebaes itching to step back into a club.
But make no mistake – you don’t have to be a sneakerhead to flex these new kicks. It’s plenty affordable at just $159 for a pair when compared to limited-edition drops, and its design still retains classic elements of its original shape just with a modern twist.
Plus, you can even get 20% off other items at the PUMA stores to go with your new sneakers by just trying out the new Foot Tapping Instagram filter.
*The PUMA Mirage Tech sneaker is available at PUMA.com, PUMA stores, JD Sports, Royal Sporting House, and other select retailers islandwide.
