Prawning is probably one of the chillest pastimes in SG, where you get to socialise with your friends while still engaging in an activity that offers a tasty reward. It’s also a good gateway into the world of fishing, as prawns are smaller and struggle less than their finned counterparts.

Opened in 2022, Bait N Catch is one of the newcomers in the prawning game. Apparently, it’s pretty beginner-friendly, with reviews praising the bite rate here – which means you’ll be getting catches here even if you’re new to this.
They also provide free-flow chicken heart baits, so you can maximise your loot. For the pros, you’re welcome to bring your own rods and bait too.

If you’ve got kids interested in prawning as a hobby, you’ll be glad to know that they hold friendly competitions here. Recently, they organised one for kids under 12, and winners got to walk away with prawning vouchers, a certificate, and a suave trophy.
Singapore’s West has plenty to offer, including Jurong Lake Gardens and the Science Centre. However, if you’re looking for something a little more relaxed than hiking park trails, head to ATC Fishing Village (from $12.60/hour) just beside Jurong Hill, where you can cast your lines for prawns.

They also have a Tagged Prawn Rewards system, where you’ll have a chance to win $2, $5, $10 or 1 free hour of prawning based on the colour of tag attached on the prawn.
Located in another secluded area of SG, prawning at Ah Hua Fishing (from $13.30/hour) is made more enjoyable thanks to its quiet surroundings and fresh air, away from all distractions.
You can also participate in koi fish feeding ($1 per bottle) and pole fishing (from $25/hour), if you want a little variety in your activity line-up.
Located in the more ulu part of North-East Singapore, it’s no wonder that many prefer heading to Riveria Prawn Fishing ($11/hour) for its quieter environment
They’ve also got a reward system so you’ve more incentive to keep prawning – you’ll get $10 in cash if you’re lucky enough to catch a tagged prawn.
Located at Pasir Ris Town Park, kelong-style D’Best Fishing’s prawning, crabbing, and fishing area will bring you back to your parents’ childhood days.
They’ve also got a Pro-Fishing Pond ($18.60/hour) where you can learn to bait a hook and properly cast a fishing rod, or just get some fishing tips and advice from the pros themselves.

Being the largest prawning facility in Singapore and perhaps one of the most well-known, Orto (from $11.80/hour) had a total of 10 ponds filled with big head prawns and yabbies, a type of crayfish. Unfortunately, 25th June 2023 was their last day at the OG Yishun compound. Fret not though as their new location at West Coast, will continue to keep their prawning legacy alive.
Directly opposite Haw Par Villa, this Orto has returned with a fancier concept, but with the same roots. You’ll still get to enjoy Thai boat noodles (from $36.80), hotpot style from a new Thai restaurant Kinn Derm – while the former BKK Bistro has moved to Kallang Mall. Moreover, there’ll also be live music from local bands for you to wine and dine over too.
Moreover, their prawning facility has also been elevated as it’s now located within a restaurant called 88 SGMY Seafood. Visitors can catch their own prawns ($7/500g) and even get to select from their 10 cooking accompaniments, including fan favourites cereal and sambal.

At Hai Bin Prawning (from $11/hour), the more you prawn the more you save. A 3-hour prawning sesh will cost you $40. If you really want to go big or go home, consider getting their 10-hour pass, which you can use across 6 months. Ambitious prawners will be glad to know that they frequently hold in-house events with attractive prizes such as the Boston Lobster you see above.

Hai Bin Prawning also has a Banyan Beer Garden outlet, if you’re keen to feast while waiting for the prawns to bite. Besides beer on tap, they also serve finger food such as drumlets, fries, and calamari rings, plus mains such as chicken chops and spaghetti.

If you’re not into sweating buckets while waiting for the prawns and lobsters to bite, head on over to Fun@Fish which has outlets at Bugis+, formerly known as FishBugis+, and Ang Mo Kio. 1 hour of prawning here can go for as low as $11.60.
Young kids who can’t handle the prawning rod can try longkang fishing instead. Afterwards, the whole family can relax at the fish spa, with “physio fish” nibbling away at the dead skin on your feet.
For a more hands-on experience, they’ve got BBQ grillers for you to cook all the big head king prawns and lobsters you catch. They hold regular live screenings of soccer matches at their beer garden too – go on and chill with the bros with refreshing ciders (from $9/bottle), and beer towers at $49.
Accessible only by car, Aquarium Iwarna (from $10.50/hour) is pretty off the grid. That said, this also means it’s a lot less crowded – which is ideal for an activity that requires peace of mind and patience.
Google will inform you of what you can find at their aquarium – mostly what’s needed for the setup and maintenance for your home aquarium – but what’s not shared are the ponds they have for fishing and prawning. These are also, for some reason, not listed on their website. There are grills available for you to cook your catch after your session.
