There’s A Free Peranakan-Themed Showcase At Sentosa With IG-Worthy Displays & Special Cable Car Rides

Peranakan Reimagined at Sentosa Sensoryscape

For some reason, we’ve been bombarded with a slew of IG-worthy things to do in Singapore as of late. It could be because we’re inching ever-so closely to SG60 and the school holidays, but not complaining one bit. From the adorable Stitch 626 Party at VivoCity to the upcoming i Light Singapore 2025, there’s much to whip out your cameras for heading into June.

To further extend your photo-taking spree, Sentosa’s another spot you’ll want to head to, as its sunny shores are playing host to the Peranakan Reimagined showcase. If you’d like to spruce up your feed with Kebaya photoshoots, pretty light displays, and thoughtfully-decorated cable car rides, here’s the down-low on the aesthetic affair.

What to expect at Peranakan Reimagined at Sentosa?

Peranakan Reimagined is a series of outdoor installations and activities that pay homage to the Peranakan heritage in Singapore. It’s located at Sentosa Sensorycape, and will be taking place from now till 31st August 2025. Peranakan Reimagined is also free for all to experience.

The centrepiece of the showcase is undoubtedly the stunning 7.2m tall The Peranakan House. Like its name suggests, it’s a majestic rendition of a traditional Peranakan home that sports intricate details and vivid colours. Come nightfall, a series of light projections and digital artwork will be shone onto the building, bathing it in a kaleidoscope of dazzling patterns.

Another picture-perfect spot is the Field of Beaded Bloom. Here, the Tactile Trellis gets a makeover inspired by kasut manek, which are traditional Peranakan slippers adorned with ornate beadwork.

There’s even an oversized pair which sits prettily in the middle of the gardens, so you can better appreciate the painstaking handiwork that went into making these footwear that double as works of art. The Tactile Trellis also lights up under the cover of dark, and it’ll look especially alluring as the Peranakan-infused designs on its 198 panels illuminate the night.

You’ll even be rewarded with a sweet lil memento when you pose for a picture at The Peranakan House or the Field of Beaded Bloom.

Snap away at either installation, post your pics to Facebook, Instagram, TIkTok, XiaoHongShu, WeChat, or Weibo with the hashtags #SentosaSensoryScape and #PeranakanReimagined. Then, show your posts to the staff over at the Beach Station Enquiry lounge to redeem a free Peranakan tile coaster throughout the duration of the showcase.

Other Peranakan-related attractions include Giant in Grace, a display of Peranakan artefacts like teapots and jewellery that showcase the people’s affinity for artistry over at The Walkway. To tantalise your nose with whiffs of Peranakan cuisine, swing by the Scented Sphere, or ogle at age-old instruments used in traditional performances at the Symphony Streams.

By the way, if you need to get all prettied up for the ‘Gram, you can strut your stuff by donning a Kebaya, which is the traditional costume of the Peranakans. You can rent a Kebaya set at the Sentosa Shop @ Sensoryscape for $40/2 hours.

The iconic Singapore Cable Car also gets some Peranakan love as a couple of them are dressed in pastel hues, fancy tiles, and shophouse-like motifs, co-designed by The Intan’s Baba Alvin Yapp.

If you’d like to step into one of them yourself, now’s probably the best time to do so as there’s an ongoing 1-for-1 Sentosa Line promotion. From now till 31st August 2025, local residents can snag a round trip for 2 on the Sentosa Cable Car for just $4, or 1-day unlimited rides for 2 for $14.

Recommended tickets at S$19.22
(Price displayed may vary from vendor site due to currency conversion.)
