Paradise Island at Armenian Street
In conjunction with the Singapore Night Festival, Peranakan Museum will be hosting Paradise Island at Armenian Street – a festival dedicated to celebrating all things Peranakan. Happening from 22nd August to 6th September 2025, you’ll get to enjoy various cultural performances and try out delicious traditional cuisine.
What is Paradise Island at Armenian Street?
The Peranakan Museum and Armenian Street will transform into a festival playground with live music, a marketplace and all the food you can eat. Look forward to free hands-on activities to walk away with your very own souvenir creations too.
From 5th to 6th September 2025 – the last 2 days before the event officially concludes – Peranakan Museum will also be extending its opening hours to 11pm, perfect for a late-night cultural fix before the festival wraps up.
What to expect at Paradise Island at Armenian Street?

Skygazers: Dreaming into the Past and Future by Space Objekt x Reza Hasni is an art installation that explores the intersections of culture and our aspirations for the future. Look closely and you’ll spot a face gazing up at the sky – a design detail inspired by an archival photograph of 4 nyonyas, reimagined as part of the installation.
You’ll find traditional Peranakan motifs woven into the design, and a 3-layered structure that you can walk through, allowing you to interact with the art itself.
Take your time strolling through the installation, but save the photo-taking for last – the artwork comes alive after dark.

A bustling marketplace with cultural food

Fuel up at the event’s designated marketplace, Golden Sunset Way, where a lineup of vendors will keep your tummies happy all night long. Expect classic Malay dishes like nasi ulam with ayam rendang and daging masak hitam on the side from Ulam, and dosa with a Singaporean twist from MahaCo Dosa Bar.
Papitto Gelato will also be serving up a special Peranakan-Arabian gelato specially for Paradise Island – something you wouldn’t want to miss. And if the heat gets to you, cool off with 100% natural and low-sugar kombucha from Moon Juice Kombucha.

There’s more happening at the Peranakan Museum Lobby. Try your hand at creating a personalised charm bracelet with TOTTO&CO – a fun way to express your creativity and take home a piece of “paradise” with you.
You’ll also be able to learn the craft of Jawi calligraphy – a historic script once used by the Malay community and derived from Arabic characters. It may have fallen out of everyday use, but here, it’s celebrated as a unique art form you can try for yourself.

Catch vibrant cultural live performances

No festival is complete without some good tunes. Sunset Groove is a special segment of Paradise Island that brings live performances across 2 weekends.
Catch Suara Sayang, a performance group under the Gunong Sayang Association, as they perform a series of traditional Peranakan songs.
Local artist rhyu will also be making an appearance, putting a modern spin on traditional Peranakan tunes. She’ll be performing 如燕 (Ru Yan), the theme song from The Little Nyonya, alongside some of her original music.

As part of the Community Voices x Paradise Island programme, The Samrah Club will also be showcasing a traditional Arab Peranakan performance. Rounding off the lineup is the New Stream Brass Band, who will be jazzing things up with their signature New Orleans-style brass sound with some Peranakan-inspired tunes.

Unique activities for all ages
Check out Isle Be Listening for something a little more introspective. It’ll bring you on an immersive journey of personal discovery – simply pick a sacred artefact, visit your designated “island”, and receive the wisdom of a soothsayer.
Arrive early as last admission to the experience is 10.30pm.

Here’s something for the little ones. Bring them along for the Anak Anak Storytelling Guide at the Peranakan Museum, where they will learn more about Peranakan culture. Along the way, you’ll meet some curious characters like the magical ang ku kueh mould and a beaded lion.
It is a self-guided tour, so you’ll be free to roam as you please. This is also an ongoing free experience that’s open to the public even after Paradise Island at Armenian Street ends.
