This year, Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES have put together a slew of Oktoberfest activities, including live music, German food and beer, and even a pop-up market selling artisanal goods.

There are 2 Oktoberfest parties – 1 at Capitol Singapore and 1 at CHIJMES.

Oktoberfest party at Capitol Singapore.

The party at Capitol Singapore will be graced by Summer Oompah!, a live band that specialises in traditional German music. To bring the authenticity up a notch, the performers wear lederhosen and dirndls. If you want to check them out, head down to the Outdoor Plaza at Capitol Singapore.

Should you get hungry, Frieda German Restaurant will be on standby to offer you hunger-busters such as the Nürnberg Würstchen  ($8++), which consists of sausages, mashed potato, sauerkraut, Dijon mustard, and sourdough bread. Don’t forget to order the Oktoberfest Beer, which is priced at $14++ for 500ml.

Those who are up for it can put on a lederhosen or dirndl, follow @capitolkempinski, and receive a free pretzel from the Frieda German Restaurant booth at the Outdoor Plaza. Do note that the offer is limited to the first 30 redemptions and is only valid on 7th-8th Oct.

Meanwhile, the Oktoberfest party at CHIJMES will take place on The Lawn. PEMENCO has an Oktoberfest menu filled with bundles that will feed 2, 5, and 10 people respectively. But if that’s too much food for you, we recommend ordering the Bangers & Mash ($38), which comprises 4 sausages, mashed potato, and sauerkraut, along with a pint of Erdinger Weissbier ($20).

Pop-up market

The pop-up market is exclusive to Capitol Singapore and runs from 7th-9th Oct. You’ll find stalls selling handmade products such as polymer clay jewellery that look like food, quirky illustrated phone cases, and hand-sewn bags.

Wiggle for a free beer & take a lucky dip

The only thing better than good beer is free beer. At Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES, you can get your hands on a cold one, free of charge. The catch? You’ll have to take a video of yourself doing your best jiggly, wiggly dance, upload it onto Instagram, and follow and tag either @CapitolSingapore or @CHIJMES.sg to redeem a free beer.

Projection mapping at CHIJMES runs from 7.30pm-10.30pm daily till 23rd Oct.  

Besides lucky dips and dancing for free beers, you can also win a $50 Capitol Singapore and CHIJMES voucher by taking a photo with the giant trophy standee at the podium on the Mini Lawn at CHIJMES. Then, simply follow and tag @CHIJMES.sg on Facebook or Instagram and you’re all set.
