New things to do in KL

As Malaysia’s capital city, Kuala Lumpur is never boring, with a never-ending slew of new and exciting openings and things to do. Instead of taking the usual Petronas Towers-Batu Caves-Jalan Alor route, we’ve compiled a list of new things to do in KL for your next getaway, whether you’re solo travelling, visiting with friends or here with family.

The current exchange rate is RM1 = ~S$0.30 as of 28th April 2025.

– Things to do –

1. Immersify KL

Immersive art installations with 3D surround sound

Immersify KL is a digital art installation that uses visual and spatial technology to create a truly immersive experience, hence the name “Immersify.” The 30,000sqft installation has 11 specially designed zones and 12m-tall projections that make for pretty trippy and aesthetic photo ops.

The beautiful visuals are complemented by 3D surround sound, and you’ll be taken on a multi-sensorial journey as you walk through the exhibition, which is inspired by human emotions.

2. Townsquare Park

European-inspired park with Tuileries Garden vibes

Located in Gamuda Cove, Selangor, Townsquare Park looks nothing like Malaysia. This European-inspired park has tree-lined avenues and majestic fountains that remind us of the Tuileries Gardens in Paris –  great for strolling around and snapping pretty pictures.

Frolic in their flower field or people-watch by their giant water fountains. If you don’t want to walk, you can still enjoy the beautiful view from their trams that shuttle visitors around the Gamuda Cove area for free.

Wisma Kebudayaan is a museum exhibition with seasonally changing exhibitions. Their last exhibition, Blossom of Hope, was inspired by flora and fauna, showcasing paintings, floral art and spatial installations. It even had a hands-on art piece you could contribute to.

Keep an eye on the Harmoni Soka website to see if any upcoming exhibitions pique your interest. Plus, entry is free, so you can keep coming back since every new exhibition will be a new experience.

We all know that going to Malaysia is never complete unless we end our trip with a nice, relaxing massage. Billion Onsen & Aesthetics takes it up a notch with their 24-hour spa, where you can onsen and chill no matter the time of the day or night.

Treat yourself to a refreshing facial or a massage, or head to their saunas to sweat out all that gunk. If you’re concerned about the post-massage oiliness, they also have shower amenities where you can freshen up if you have plans after your spa sesh.

5. ATV riding at Tanjung Karang

Ride an ATV through a field of hairpin turns

Riding an ATV is thrilling as is, but ATV riding at Tanjung Karang stands out for its custom-designed track of hairpin turns through a field. Choose from 130cc or 200cc ATVs – depending on how fast and how much power you’d like on your ride. Packages start from RM50 (~S$15.11) for a 30-minute session.

If you’re not confident in your driving skills, you won’t miss out on the experience since they also have a double-decker tram and tuk-tuks with designated drivers that can take you on a tour around the track.

6. The Bomb Battle

Dodge lasers, crack codes & defuse a paint bomb

The Bomb Battle is a unique escape room experience that goes further than simple puzzle solving. You’ll have to decrypt codes, play memory games, and dodge lasers. Beating all those challenges means nothing, however, if you don’t defuse the ticking paint bomb at the end of it. Fail, and you’ll be drenched head to toe in multi-coloured neon paints.

Don’t worry about the paint, because you’ll be suited up in hazmat suits and protective gear that’ll keep your fit clean. This 75-minute experience costs RM37.57 (~S$11.25) and will challenge your group both mentally and physically.

Other game packages at The Bomb Battle include The Greatest Lava for RM40 (~S$12.08), a Floor Is Lava-style game with more than 500 lava tiles and 50 different challenges, or Versus Arena priced at RM37.57 (~S$11.35), where you and your friends can battle it out in teams.

Urban Museum, also known as UR-MU, is a collection of 3 museums founded and designed by Mr Tan Loke Mun, one of Malaysia’s greatest architects. Each museum houses private collections of art from prominent collectors in Malaysia. Each location has over 200 exhibits and artworks to peruse, all collected based on their collectors’ interests and passion.

Aside from art, they also host seminars, art workshops, and even live performances at their museums. An upcoming talk by artist and researcher Tan Zi Hao on 10th May examines how humans relate to things around us, and discusses non-linear storytelling about our world through different media.

If you’re interested to learn about the rich art scene in Malaysia, tickets are priced from RM20 (~S$6.04).

8. Skyline Luge

1.6km of tracks complete with twists, turns & tunnels

Image adapted from: @skylinelugekualalumpur via Instagram

Skyline Luge is a family-friendly activity where you and your loved ones can race down 4 different tracks totalling a whole 1.6km, packed with LED tunnels, downhill slopes, and tight turns. They also have the world’s longest Luge tunnel, at 52m long. If you’re not a thrill seeker, and would rather cruise than race – we won’t judge. The luge carts at Skyline Luge are specially designed to allow drivers full control over the speed of each cart, so you can decide how fast or slow your luge goes.

We recommend their  4 Luge Ride Combo, priced at RM71.25 (~$21.53), which includes a ride on their Skyride that takes you to the top of the course, and access to all 4 of their tracks.

The best part is that there are cameras all along the tracks, so you don’t have to try snapping pics and driving at the same time. Do note that their Legend Track is temporarily closed for upgrades, so keep an eye on their website for updates.

Recommended tickets at S$22.75

9. Beryl’s Chocolate & Confectionery

Free chocolate museum tours

A museum that’s all about chocolate sounds like a dream, and Beryl’s Chocolate is even better since entry is free. Book a slot ahead of your visit on the Beryl’s Chocolate website for a tour about the history of chocolate and cacao, a key ingredient in making chocolate.

You can even learn about chocolate production and look at antique chocolate-making machines at this museum. This experience is a quick one – it’s only about 45 minutes long, so it’s a good way to chill and learn something in between other activities.

Plus, you get to shop for Beryl’s chocolates at their store, which you can gift to your loved ones back home.

The crowning glory of this new mall, however, is a rooftop restaurant that opens till midnight. The Scarlet’s Rooftop is a fine-dining restaurant that comes with stunning views of the KL skyline, whether you choose to sit indoors or outdoors.
