Going to a mall is a Singaporean’s favourite pastime, since food, shopping, and perhaps most importantly, air-con, are all in one place. Heading out to the usual malls in town or your heartland neighbourhood might get boring after a while, so here are some new and recently renovated shopping malls in Singapore to check out if you need a new haunt.
Offering chill meetup spots, international gourmet offerings, and endless retail therapy, Singapore has plenty of new mall openings and recent upgrades. Consider swinging by to shop for your essentials or purely kill time with a jalan-jalan session.

The Cathay Mall is an oldie that recently reopened with a whole new look. One new feature of the mall is its 360° multimedia tower, which stands proudly in the middle of its main atrium and is nearly 3 storeys tall.
The tower showcases virtual landscapes complete with dreamy soundscapes and speakers that’ll transport you to a completely different world.
Here, you can drop by Wingstop for a hearty lunch, or other mall mainstays like Saizeriya (#B1-11), Ya Kun Kaya Toast (#B1-13), and Yoshinoya (#B1-08).
Aside from shopping and dining, The Cathay also has a pet-friendly sky garden where you can unwind. It has plenty of seating to lounge at and let your pets run amok, and taps to clean up or help your pets rehydrate after a long play session.

Jelita Mall is a heartland mall that serves the residents of Bukit Timah and Holland Village. It’s got an updated look, upgraded lifts, escalators and a brand new car park. They used to have free 1-hour parking, but now that perk’s been changed to completely free parking if you spend a minimum of $30 at Cold Storage.
If you’re not here for grocery shopping, grab a bite from their numerous eateries like Craftsman Speciality Coffee (#02-04), Four Pizza (#02-17) and Jelita Gourmet (#02-18).
Geneo @ Singapore Science Park is more than just another office building, and its stunning cathedral-style walls are a testament to that. This open-air mall is more than just a place to snap pretty pictures – it’s also home to numerous eateries and the long-awaited Swensen’s Unlimited (#01-06).
Unlike the typical Swensen’s at your neighbourhood mall, Swensen’s Unlimited is a buffet-style restaurant with a 90-minute dinner service. You’ll be spoiled for choice here – on the left wall of the restaurant, you have fresh seafood and a salad bar, complete with a variety of sauces.
Follow the food trail and you’ll reach the side and main dishes they offer here, like breaded chicken, roasted herb potatoes, and sautéed meatballs in black pepper cream. To end your meal, they even have an ice cream and gelato bar with 48 different flavours to choose from.
Head over to Hawkerlab, where there’s Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cuisines to whet your appetite if you’re not feeling Western food. It’s an air-conditioned hawker centre, so you won’t have to worry about the heat.
For quick bites or a pick-me-up coffee, Geneo has cafes like Pyroast (#01-27) and Olive & Peach (#01-31). We heard the focaccia sandwiches are made fresh daily, a perfect lunch-time treat. Otherwise, they also have other food options like Pasta Express (#B2-39), Ha-Jun Korean (#B2-32), and Putien (#B1-33).
Punggol Coast Mall opened back in March, much to the delight of those of us living all the way in the North-East. SIT students and Punggol residents can find themselves milling around this new mall to shop, dine and hang out.
Their open-air plaza has plenty of seating for you to chill and enjoy the breeze. Otherwise, pop by the cafes or restaurants for a quick bite and window shop at their shopping outlets like MUJI (#01-53/54/55) and Coldwear (#01-79/80) – a shop specialising in winter wear.
Kada at Maxwell mixes up the old and new in one gorgeous lifestyle hub. Singapore’s newest hipster hangout is found in the historic building once known as St Andrew’s Mission Hospital for women and children. Here, you’ll find Singapore’s oldest electric lift, built way back in 1920, that you can still ride in.
A hipster spot wouldn’t be complete without a cafe, and this “mall” has a number of them. Pacto by Parchment is a must-visit if you’re here. Get your drinks through a window like you’re at a drive-through. They sell specialty coffees from $4 but if you’re not a coffee drinker, they have chocolate drinks from $5 too.
If you’re thinking of bringing along a pet or getting matcha, then ECHO is the cafe you’re looking for. Those serious about their cuppa can head to Kyuukei Coffee, which was founded by a fellow coffee enthusiast.
KADA is more than just a hang-out spot, though; they also have 4 event spaces for rent – The Atrium, Oasis Lounge, The Roof, and The Lawn. Each space has a unique vibe and serves as a great place to host gatherings.

WEAVE @ Resorts World Sentosa hasn’t opened yet, but it will be Singapore’s newest mall when it does. Streets say it’ll open mid-2025, lining up perfectly with the June school holidays. Based on the artist’s illustrations, we can expect a gorgeous modern building that blends both urban and natural elements effortlessly.
This mall is also expected to house the Maison Pierre Hermé Paris pastry store, which will make its Singapore debut when the mall officially opens. The 2-storey flagship store is sure to wow us all, and is another place we can flock to for some sweet treats.
Komo Shoppes is a small but mighty shopping centre with everything the residents nearby would need. Residents can hang out at a slew of cafes and bars, like Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (#01-08) and Toast Box (#01-09).
This mall is family-friendly too, since it has enrichment classes, a 24-hour gym and a Fairprice (#01-01 to #01-07) that has a Japanese-cuisine section where you can get salmon and ikura sushi.
The popular Georges@Oasis (#01-12) bar can also be found here, selling beers from $8, cocktails and whiskey shots from $6.90 during Happy Hour. The bar is complete with a pool table for entertainment as you mingle.

Anchorvale Village Mall is a mall for the foodies – and their highlight is definitely the hawker centre. With 650 seats and 36 different food stalls to choose from, you’ll be spoiled for choice as to where to sit and what to eat.
The main draw, however, are the 3 Michelin-recommended hawker stalls. The first, Pin Wei Hong Kong Style Chee Cheong Fun with their 3-generation-old dim sum recipe, followed by China Whampoa Homemade Noodles, which sells handmade hand-pulled noodles.
Last, but not least, is the Original Simon Road Hokkien Mee selling noodles infused with tons of wok hei.
Otherwise, this mall is great for those looking to relax, as you can pamper yourself at Shugar Foot & Body Wellness (#01-11). They offer mani-pedis from $10, lash extensions, massages from $45 and even student facials for $85.
New Bahru Mall lets you indulge in your crafty side with plenty of one-of-a-kind goods and customisable products to buy.
Sea Apple (#02-09) is a kid-friendly apparel store where the little ones can pick out iron-on patches they can use to customise to their liking. The store sells children’s apparel and accessories like bags, hats and stuffed toys.
For the adults, Make by Ginlee (#02-10) offers Peating Workshops for $88/pax where you can make your own bag during the workshop and choose the colour, wraps, straps and eyelets.
Crafune (#02-11) is another shop that offers leather crafting workshops where you can make triangle pouches ($45) or cross-body bags ($110). You can also purchase ready-made items, but you can still customise them by engraving your name or initials on them.
Aside from being a heartland mall, Pasir Ris Mall is a pretty good stop for those with little kiddos who crave entertainment. The best part about this mall is that there’s something for both adults and kiddos, so you can each have a separate itinerary without boring the other.
Whilst the parents go grocery shopping, drop off your kiddos at BearyFun Gym X (#02-56) for children to burn off their energy and keep them active. The gym is catered specifically to children, with 6 different gym programmes for different age groups.
If you’re not willing to commit right away, they have a trial class priced at $50 for your kids to test out the waters.

The mall has an outdoor playground and coin-operated rides if they haven’t had their fill. If you’d like some family-friendly activity, there’s a Have Fun Karaoke for you all to belt your hearts out to.
You’ve probably already heard that Sengkang Grand Mall has recently opened but may have yet to check out the new mall. Since it’s conveniently located right above Buangkok MRT on the North East Line, there’s not much excuse not to make a visit.
To entice you further, the array of food options to nom on here is plenty – from bubbling hotpot and IPPUDO ramen to Sushi Express and McDonald’s. Did we mention there are also 2 BBT chains for your boba fix – KOI and The Alley?
Perhaps the most attractive part of the mall is the FairPrice Finest found at B1, which takes the self-checkout service up a notch with its high-tech Scan & Go system. All you have to do is scan your purchases using the FairPrice app and make payment directly on your phone – no need to wait in line at any of the counters.
Apart from the usual groceries and plants, this supermarket also features a huge section of ready-to-eat Korean food. Simply grab some fresh kimchi or tteokbokki and pay according to weight.
In addition to all its BTO hype, the Bidadari and surrounding Potong Pasir neighbourhood now has a sparkling new “attraction” – The Woodleigh Mall. Newly opened in May, the shopping haven is directly connected to Woodleigh MRT on the North East Line and will soon house a bus interchange.
It’s also surrounded by the new Bidadari Park, with a stretch of cafes and restaurants surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking Alkaff Lake. Look forward to familiar names like Tiong Bahru Bakery and Brewerkz.
Aside from the pretty greenery, there are other reasons to pop by this mall. For one, it features the largest Pepper Lunch outlet in SG as well as a 300-seater food court by Food Republic.
If that’s not enough, the FairPrice here has a cafe, bar, and kitchen. Plus, the supermarket section is open 24 hours a day. Get coffee and pastries at the cafe, enjoy outlet-exclusive cocktails at the bar, and pick your seafood to be cooked by the kitchen and eaten on the spot.

Whether you’re looking for clothing, household items or gifts, there are plenty of options to indulge in some retail therapy at The Woodleigh Mall.

We all consider Changi Airport a mall, too, right? T2 has officially opened since their renovation works, offering delicious food and attractions like a virtual waterfall.
There have already been a few new additions – namely live music bar Overflow and Hub & Spoke Cafe which are both near the Changi Jurassic Mile. Other food options that have since opened are Claypot Daddy and Taiwan Culture – both open 24-hours and halal.
Not unlike those huge malls you’ve come to expect from the States, One Holland Village is promising to be a welcome change from the usual shopping malls in Singapore. Our tiny dot got that much land space for such a big open-air mall meh? Have! And it’s going to be a short 3-minute walk from Holland Village MRT on the Circle Line.
Similar to what we already had at Holland Village when the roads were closed to vehicles, the mall will have al fresco dining at the cafes and gourmet restaurants by the street. Some of the highlights include IPPUDO, Lady M, Sourbombe bakery, and Woobbee bubble tea.
One can also look forward to pop-up events at the open plaza known as the Village Square. Look out for the mall opening in Q3 this year.
Throw away the idea that you can only go to Clarke Quay after dark – for boozy social gatherings or to dance the night away. The upgraded CQ @ Clarke Quay, expected to open in the latter half of 2023, will have activities that will make you want to visit in broad daylight too.
Revamped CQ is looking like a person who has had quite the glow up. We’re talking about additions like a grocery store in a warehouse-like setting as well as a zone for fun workshops like pottery. Those who remember their CQ days spent at nightclubs like Attica might find it strange to go there for brunch, but there will soon be cafes and pet-friendly al fresco dining areas.
Another zone known as “The Circuit” where the G5 Extreme Swing currently is will be joined by other fitness activities such as gyms. And finally, the iconic steps at Read Bridge will have benches so one can lepak comfortably.
New dance space at *Scape.
Okay, we admit that we jumped the gun for this one. A revamped *Scape at Orchard will only be revealed to the public in 2024 but the new themed zones seem so exciting that we just had to share a sneak peek.
It’s always been known as the space for youths to gather to exchange ideas and learn new things from each other, be it dancing or showcasing their art. Taking that idea further, *Scape will be designed specifically to facilitate budding entrepreneurs to meet each other and for young ones to put their chosen art forms on display.
There will also be a space for content creators to come together and collaborate. Sounds like a creativity haven in the making.
Here are some other malls that have opened or gotten a makeover in the last couple of years to check out.
Situated along the Punggol PCN, Northshore Plaza II is a great place to hang out for scenic views as well as a good rest spot for cyclists and runners in the area. Head straight to the lookout point on level 2 which overlooks the sea and from where you get a glimpse of Malaysia in the far distance.
Those with a sweet tooth have plenty of options at this mall – Creamier for handcrafted ice cream, KOI for bubble tea, and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for coffee and pastries. And then there’s Slappy Cakes where you can share a stack of pancakes with friends and family.
If you’ve got little ones in tow, check out the pirate ship-themed playground with mini slides. Yarrr!
Yup, Bugis Street has gotten a revamp and now has an esports hotel, climbing gym, and karaoke lounge. The clothes retailers and stalls selling knick-knacks are still there too but now you can do more than just shop at this mall.
A whole row of new restaurants have shown up including Mr Burger, Ayam Penyet Ria, and Xiang Cao Kitchen which is known for its grilled fish dish made Sichuan style.
5v5 battle arena.

Avid gamers who are familiar with the likes of Valorant, Fortnite, and Dota 2 will want to check out the Arena Esports Hotel which features a 2,000sqft gaming arena. If you want some privacy, check into one of the hotel rooms which doubles up as a private gaming room fully furnished with all the gaming equipment you need.

If you’ve been walking out of City Hall MRT into Raffles City for the past few months, you would have noticed renovation works going on on the ground floor. Well, the first floor has reopened with Marks & Spencer and plenty of other luxury brand stores, including L’OCCITANE.
Although the iconic Starbucks at the entrance is no longer around, Paris Baguette’s flagship store has taken its place and we think it remains a lovely spot to chit-chat with friends over coffee and bites. Btw, that Starbucks has relocated to Level 2 in the mall.
Northeast-siders are in luck – the first sea-front neighbourhood mall, Northshore Plaza has recently opened its doors in Punggol.
Located just four LRT stops from Punggol station, the waterfront shopping mall is linked directly to Samudera LRT station and will be opening in two phases. Northshore I opened on 29th October 2021, while Northshore II is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022.
Some notable tenants include Redman by Phoon Huat, HaiDiLao Hot Pot, KOI Thé ,and a two-storey Decathlon store. The Punggol region is known to be a hotspot among young families who’ve just moved into their BTOs, and this mall serves them well with plenty of supermarkets, family wellness clinics, learning centres and a built-in playground.
From waterfront dining experiences to communal outdoor spaces with garden views, Northshore Plaza provides a tranquil respite for Northeast residents. You can also check out our Northshore Plaza review to plan your first visit.
NTP+, or New Tech Park, is a two-storey mall located just a short walk from Lorong Chuan MRT. Having recently opened its doors in mid-2021, it has plenty of food options despite being a relatively smaller mall. Examples include Dutch Colony Cafe, Wine Connection, Iro Iro and The Social Alley.

Besides wining and dining at their many restaurants and cafes, you can also grab an after-meal treat and head up to the outdoor terrace at Level Two for a breezy chat. We recommend FiNE TEA!, a first-of-its-kind bubble tea and gelato concept store which boasts over 50 drinks and 20 ice cream flavours on its menu.

90s kids will know this mall as PoMo, a popular after-school spot for students of the nearby tertiary institutions. The mall has since been revamped as GR.ID to target hip millennials and Gen Zs, and opened its doors to the public in October 2021.
Reminiscent of Tetris blocks, the building’s colourful exterior is said to embrace the young and upbeat vibe of the Selegie education district.
Apart from international food spots like Kamikaze Asian Tapas Bar, Isshin Machi, and Thai Street by Gu Thai, you’ll also find eclectically-decorated bathrooms perfect for mirror selfies with your gal pals, and chill spaces for chit-chats and people-watching.
Previously known as Great World City, you might remember this as the mall with a painting of the sky adorning the ceiling, and different themed bathrooms on every level representing different countries around the world. The mall went through a major renovation and reopened its doors early 2020 as Great World.
Located near Orchard, a prime hotspot for Christmas shopping, Great World is a quieter alternative for your shopping needs if you’d prefer to avoid crowds. It’s equally well-occupied with popular tenants known to stock gift-worthy goods, such as Tokyu Hands, Papermarket, Lovisa, and Toys R Us.
Great World Playland

Throughout the rest of the year, you’ll also be able to settle your clothes shopping and grocery runs all in one place – with popular retail stores like Zara, Uniqlo, 6ixty8ight, and supermarkets like Scoop Wholefoods, CS Fresh by Cold Storage, and Meidi-Ya.
If you’re shopping with little ones, make sure to head up to the play area at Level 2 where the little ones can have a blast at the railway and hot air balloon-themed playground.
Reopened in 2021, i12 Katong went through major reno works to reintroduce itself as a 6-storey mall with a 180-stall capacity.
Through three specially curated zones – Fashion Lifestyle, Home and Living, and Family Entertainment – expect to see popular tenants such as PS.Café, Guzman y Gomez, Scoop Wholefoods, CS Fresh by Cold Storage, and Golden Village.

Say goodbye to the heat and bring your kids to the mall’s indoor play area, perfect for a quick shopping break and playtime for the energetic kiddos. If you’d like to monkey around and expend some energy yourself, there’s also a Climb Asia climbing gym within the mall.
Striving towards a blend of traditional heritage and new-age F&B and retail offerings, Tekka Place is Little India’s newest mall that opened in 2019, but has since undergone renovations up to 2021.
Located in the heart of Little India, the building is also home to the Citadines Rochor hotel, attached right above the mall. This means future staycays at Citadines Rochor will allow you to have loads of shopping, dining, and activity options just an elevator ride away.
Excite your taste buds with a fusion of Italian and Indian flavours
Find a range of food, retail offerings and services highlighting Indian culture at this unique specialised mall. These include henna services at Vanessa Beauty, Indian handicrafts and decor at Arts & Culture, and Indian-Italian fusion cuisine at Bacos the Dine.
Other notable tenants include the now-permanent Eatbox collection of food stalls, Kung Fu Tea, Boulder Movement, and Angkara, a homegrown brand specialising in fusion clothing inspired by Indian heritage.

Le Quest, the newest mall in the west, recently opened back in 2020. Bukit Batok residents no longer have to count on West Mall or Hillion Mall for their grocery needs and food fixes.
Quench your thirst with coconut shakes from CocoBoss.
BBT and sweet drink fans, in particular, will be jumping for joy at the selection here, ranging from R&B Tea, Kung Fu Tea and Teabrary to CocoBoss – a new coconut shake contender to try if you’d like something to compare against the legendary Mr Coconut. There’s also a specialty craft beer bar called Gone Rouge Brewing, for those with more grownup drink palates.
Other than a selection of F&B tenants, there aren’t many retail outlets save for FairPrice Finest, Guardian, and a Tian Ma grocery store. While Le Quest’s opening spells added convenience to residents of the Bukit Batok region, it might not be worth a trip to the West if you’re expecting a major shopping spree.
Northsiders have a new haunt in their vicinity to spend weekends at, apart from Northpoint City and Causeway Point – which are known to attract hordes of shoppers. Recently opened in December 2020, Canberra Plaza is the North side’s newest mall, connected to the newest MRT station – Canberra.
Get all your shopping and dining needs settled, from groceries homeware essentials to casual meals and catch-ups with friends. There are stores like Daiso, A&W, YiFang Taiwan Fruit Tea and the quintessential mainstay of every neighbourhood, McDonald’s. The only thing is, their McDonald’s outlet is massive, with aesthetics that rival that of a cafe’s.
There’s even a free water play park at Level Three. So if you’re heading down with kiddos in tow, make sure to pack a change of clothes so they can have a splashing good time.
A 51-storey building for offices, serviced apartments, retail and F&B, Capita Spring is scheduled to open in the second half of 2021. Located a 2-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT, Capita Spring could well be your next dabao or after-work spot in the CBD.
You can expect a food centre on the second and third floors featuring stallholders from Market Street Hawker Centre, but in air-conditioned comfort. There’ll also be a pan-European garden bistro, and a rooftop restaurant and social bar.
Green Oasis.
Once the mall officially opens its doors, make sure to check out the Green Oasis, Singapore’s highest urban farm ever and a 4-storey garden with a 30M cascading sanctuary of flora. Soon to be added to the list of hidden gardens in Singapore, Capita Spring sounds like it’ll serve as a great midday respite for CBD folks on their daily grind.
Image credit: Change for Life via Facebook
Located right at Raffles Place MRT, Change Alley is the CBD’s latest mall, which opened in mid-2020. Previously known as Chevron House, this newly revamped site has an array of F&B outlets that will spoil you for choice the next time you run out of lunch dabao options.
Japanese rice bowls and dishes from WaaCow!
Tenants include popular chain F&B outlets like WaaCow!, MilkSha, Taki Izakaya Bar and Poké Theory as well as Tanamera Coffee, a popular Indonesian coffee chain.
After filling your bellies, stroll through the mall to check out fashion retail stores like CREAMSTUDIOS for elegant basics, and Nimisski for Korean-inspired apparel. Perfect for OLs to squeeze a bit of shopping into their lunch hour, and perhaps pick up a new office ‘fit or 2.
Malls are aplenty in Singapore, and it’s easy to tire out your list of regularly visited shopping centres. Whether it’s for a food-venture or Christmas shopping spree, visit these new and recently upgraded shopping malls in Singapore for a change in scenery, and discover gems in different neighbourhoods.
Since many of us aren’t venturing overseas just yet, you can even make a full-day adventure out of visiting various malls around the region. Based off this list alone, you’ll be able to journey from regions all throughout Singapore, from the central to far east, west and north.
