On 4th November 2026, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced that the Bedok South and Sungei Bedok MRT stations on the TEL and the DTL’s Xilin MRT station will open simultaneously on 26th December 2026. These openings are part of TEL Stage 5 and the DTL Stage 3 Extension, and fill the gap between Bayshore and Expo through Sungei Bedok.

With the opening of the 3 new stations, commuters working or residing in the area can expect to shave valuable minutes off their travel time. According to the LTA, the journey from Havelock to Changi will take 45 minutes, down from 75 minutes, minus a bus transfer.
For those bound for Expo travelling out of Marine Terrace, you can save up to 15 minutes by switching onto the DTL, a transfer now made possible with the new MRT stations. Easties who’re sick of doing their shopping at Tampines Mall, Parkway Parade won’t be too far away; the direct train ride from Tampines to Marine Parade is estimated to be a little over half an hour.

The completed extensions mean more than 240,000 households are within a 10-minute walk of a TEL station, while 220,000 households will be within a 10-minute walk ofto one on the DTL. With this newfound convenience, a whole slew of amenities will also be just a stone’s throw away once you step off the platform of these freshly-opened stations.

Right next to Bedok South MRT station is Siglap CC, which plays host to a bowling alley, badminton courts, a food court, and a McDonald’s outlet.
