McDonald’s has unveiled its latest attraction – the McMc Museum, or Mai Mai McDonald’s museum in Shenzhen, China. It’s the brand’s first “time-travel” museum, where you’ll embark on a nostalgic journey and enjoy a glimpse into the past with the various museum features and activities.
Here’s everything you need to know.

Shenzhen was the site of McDonald’s inaugural opening in Mainland China in 1990. Since then, the fast food chain has expanded across the country and now has over 6,800 McDonald’s restaurants. So it’s only apt that McDonald’s has chosen to honour its legacy with a brand new museum in the city where it all started.
The McMc Museum can be found at A Park in Meilin, Futian District. The restaurant-cum-museum resembles a giant Happy Meal box, so it’s easy to spot the building.
There’s also a massive 6-floor bright yellow staircase attached to the exterior’s side, with eye-catching giant inflatable McNuggets and time capsules filled with nostalgic accessories.
If you’re heading over by public transport, the nearest Metro station is Xiameilin Station on Line 9. Once you arrive, take Exit A – the museum is just a short walk away.

The McMc museum first opened its doors to the public on 1st June 2025, in tandem with Children’s Day in the country. It is currently open daily, from 10.30am to 8pm.

As the 1st McDonald’s museum in China and only the 4th in the world, Shenzhen’s McMc museum is all about celebrating the brand’s iconic history. Inside, you’ll find plenty of old-timey features, from the old-school McDonald’s mural to the Hello Kitty collab decorations, that’ll make you think, “Wah, last time got this meh?”
Note that all the information on the displays is in Chinese though, so do come prepared with a Mandarin-speaking friend or your trusty translation app.

As you enter, you’ll be greeted by older McDonald’s paraphernalia and rare Happy Meal toy displays from yesteryear, such as the OG milkshake cups and several turn-of-the-millennium toy collaborations. The collectibles on display are endless, and they include vintage burger boxes from the 50s, classic burger stools, and even a replica of the famous “Never rot” meal from Iceland.
You’ll also find Ronald McDonald mannequins and statues of other beloved McDonald’s mascots, such as Grimace, the Hamburgler, and Birdie, to snap pics with.

If you want to commemorate your time at the museum, stop by the themed photobooth and snap a few pictures as souvenirs to bring home. We recommend heading to this area first, as the queues can get hectic if the area is crowded.
Make sure to reserve and pay for a timeslot via WeChat beforehand – it’ll be on the same mini page as the McDonald’s ordering mini app. Your GPS has to be on and be detectable in Shenzhen for the store to be visible.

Each ticket costs RMB28 (~S$5.04), and every ticket will also get you a meal. You’ll have to redeem your tickets at the cashier at the same time to get access to the photobooth. The McMc Museum meal consists of 2 spicy McWings, medium fries, and a Coke.

Those who’ve purchased a ticket can also redeem a lucky draw prize at the exhibition hall’s front desk. Simply tear the tab off your admission ticket, and you’ll receive a goodie based on the colour you got. You can win a variety of items such as fridge magnets, laptop bags, and even exclusive McDonald’s apparel.
Plus, if you follow the Shenzhen McDonald’s museum and post about it on XiaoHongShu, you’ll receive a “Four Little Blessings” flash card, limited to 1 per user.
If you’re a Macca’s enthusiast and happen to be in Shenzhen, this is an attraction you won’t want to miss. You’ll get to take a trip down memory lane and snag some goodies while you’re at it. The idea of a museum that smells like fries? We’re lovin’ it.
