With Rainforest Wild Asia opening next year, it’s yet another park to visit when heading down for a day at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The latest addition to the area offers new high-elemental adventures, and for animal lovers, don’t miss the chance to spot never-before-seen species recently introduced to Singapore.
Rainforest Wild Asia is set to become Singapore’s 5th zoological park; the other 4 being Singapore Zoo, River Wonders, Night Safari, and Bird Paradise. The first phase will open to the public in March 2025 and aims to celebrate the wonders of Asia’s tropical rainforests.
Besides being home to 29 iconic rainforest species, the 10 zones in the park will offer various outdoor experiences for visitors of all ages to explore. Activities will be tailored according to fitness levels as well, no matter if you’re an adrenaline junkie or someone who’d prefer chill walks through nature.
Thrill-seekers, bookmark the opening of Rainforest Wild Asia to your list of things to do in Singapore. The Karsts feature towering limestone formations and make their mark as the park’s most picture-worthy backdrop. The steep and jagged cliffs make for a perfect climbing route, and adventurers can embark on a guided tour to conquer a via Ferrata path.
Another high-element activity to look forward to is the Canopy Jump. It’s the park’s highest point, and ultimate dare-devils will get the chance to free fall 20m to the forest floor.
The highlight of any wildlife park is the animals of course, and Rainforest Wild Asia will be home to 29 different rainforest species, including monkeys, sun bears, and tapirs. The park is also introducing endangered and new-to-Singapore species, such as the François langurs and the Philippine spotted deer.
Head down to the Rock Cascade, where visitors can spot the majestic Malayan tigers roaming the area. The Watering Hole is one of the various flexible habitats around the park, and it’s where you can find animals like the red dhole and babirusa only at certain times of the day.
The Cavern is where explorers can marvel at cave formations and chambers inspired by the famous Mulu caves in Sarawak. You can play it safe and stick to the dedicated walkways. Otherwise, there are also side paths for you to spot unsuspecting predators like racer snakes and giant black scorpions.
Mark your calendars for the opening of the new park. Suitable for all ages, it’s the weekend activity to anticipate if you have a little one at home or are looking for a new sight to take the seniors on a stroll.
