Lentor Modern mall guide

The days when nobody knew where exactly Lentor is are over. This budding ‘hood, bordered by Yio Chu Kang, Thomson, and Seletar, has welcomed its very own mall – Lentor Modern, just outside Exit 1 of Lentor MRT Station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

If you’re thinking of checking out this new mall, or haven’t checked out this newest hangout spot near home, here’s what you can expect:

1. Anytime Fitness 

There may be other Anytime Fitness outlets in the Thomson-YCK area, but perhaps the branch at Lentor Modern mall is now the closest to you, just a hop and skip away from home. Like all the other gyms under the brand, it’s open around the clock, every single day of the year. Plus, it’s freshly opened, ‘nuff said.

Do note that while the gym is open 24/7, it’s only staffed from 10am-7pm on weekdays, and limited hours on weekends as well as public holidays. Find out more about any ongoing promos on memberships when you inquire with the staff in-store.

2. Ma Kuang TCM

Your health isn’t something you want to muck around with, so you’ll be happy to know that Ma Kuang TCM is one of the tenants at the new mall. Founded in Taiwan, the group has been around since 1990 there, and is one of the top medical providers in the region.

They do tuina, acupuncture, massage, dietary therapy and other professional TCM services, providing a holistic, natural approach to strengthening your body.

3. Yuen Kee Dumpling

Yuen Kee Dumpling needs no further introduction: the popular dumpling chain has nearly 5,000 outlets worldwide, with waiting times at Singapore stores reportedly up to an hour long during busy periods.

So here’s the great news for Northies -Yuen Kee Dumpling is now just a stone’s throw away at Lentor Modern mall, due to open by February so you can enjoy their signature Shrimp & Crab Roe Pork Wanton Noodle with Broccoli & Garlic and Fresh Corn Juice set ($12.80), amongst other dumpling and noodle dishes on the menu.

4. CHAGEE

Following that is some mayhap even better news – the mall boasts its very own CHAGEE store, complete with dine-in seats. If you haven’t had a chance to try some of their drinks, start with their Da Hong Pao Tea Latte (from $5.90), or go with a Lapsang Souchong Tea Latte (from $5.90) for that iconic touch of smokiness.

5. NK Hairworks

Then, you have NK Hairworks, a household brand in Singapore with more than 30 years of history. Apart from your usual suspects – haircuts, colours, and perms, they also offer scalp treatments that’ll help you fight dandruff and hair loss.

New parents, this is one tenant that you’ll want to pay attention to: Mulberry Learning, the first preschool network in the world to be certified by The Institute for Habits of Mind, is known for their Reggio-inspired learning spaces and bilingual programmes for little ones from 2 months of age.

13. Twigly’s

Then, there’s Twigly’s, the mall’s answer to convenience marts. They’re open from 7am-10.30pm daily, so you can hop in for snacks, a quick cuppa coffee, and other last-minute grocery shops outside of Cold Storage’s opening hours.

FYI, there’s a coffee machine with specially curated beans, said to brew a cup of Joe that’s got notes of milk chocolate, muscovado, macadamia, and dried fruit.
