Legally Blonde: The Musical in Singapore

Name me something more iconic than Elle Woods – go on, we’ll wait. The queen of pink, the master of legally bending the rules, and the epitome of #GirlBoss is finally making her way to Singapore with Legally Blonde: The Musical.

This is hot off the press, so here’s everything we know so far.

This West End and Broadway hit is a feel-good musical comedy, based on Amanda Brown’s novel and the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon.

For the uninitiated: Elle Woods is a sorority queen who tries to win her ex-boyfriend, who broke up with her to chase Harvard Law, back by using her wit and charm to get into the famous law school herself. Along the way, she navigates professors, classmates, and even her ex, while discovering just how capable and unstoppable she really is.

Playing the Harvard-going, bending-and-snapping Elle Woods is no small feat. But stepping into her shoes for the Esplanade Theatre’s stage is Nathania Ong, a Singaporean actress who is best known for her roles in the West End as Eponine in Les Misérables and Eliza Hamilton in Hamilton. Now, she’s homebound, clad in pink, and we can’t wait to see how valuable Nathania’s portrayal of Elle Woods can be. Because what, like it’s hard?
