IOI City Mall Kuala Lumpur
If you thought VivoCity was big, wait till you go to Kuala Lumpur (KL) – they’re home to IOI City Mall, the largest mall in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, and the 3rd largest in the world. To put things in perspective, IOI City Mall is almost 6 times the size of VivoCity, the biggest mall on our island.
With more than 700 shops, an Olympic-sized ice skating rink, a rooftop sports centre, and even an indoor urban wildlife park, here’s a roundup of what you shouldn’t miss in this Putrajaya mall.

Where is IOI City Mall?
IOI City Mall is not technically found in Kuala Lumpur itself, but in Putrajaya, Selangor, about an hour’s drive south of KL.
How to get to IOI City Mall?
The most convenient way to get there from central KL would be to call yourself a Grab if you’re not driving.
Otherwise, from KL Sentral, you’ll want to take the ERL Laluan KLIA Transit to Putrajaya Sentral, or the KTM Laluan Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang line to Pulau Sebang.
From either of these stations, you’ll have to hop on bus service T523. The bus departs every hour from 6am at MRT Putrajaya Sentral, and 6.30am from KTM Serdang.
The last bus from IOI City Mall to KTM Serdang is at 9.30pm, and the last bus to MRT Putrajaya Sentral is at 10pm. All of the bus trips are approximately 30 minutes long each way.
1. District 21
Indoor theme park with Malaysia’s first indoor rope challenge course
This one’s for anyone who’s visiting the mall with kids: District 21, a 52,000sqft post-apocalyptic-themed indoor theme park. Except that instead of rides, this adventure park houses 8 adrenaline-pumping attractions that’ll keep everyone entertained for hours on end.
Think: Malaysia’s first indoor high rope challenge course with 23 elements you’ll have to get through, 13.5m above ground, the country’s first indoor Roller Glider that’s like a 180m-long flying fox on steroids, climbing walls, a massive trampoline field, and even a free fall jump that’ll be a test of your bravado.
Tickets are priced at RM64 (~S$20.63) on weekdays, and RM80 (~S$25.79) on weekends and public holidays. If you’re just entering the park to watch the ones who are playing, the Non-Active pass is RM10 (~S$3.22). Do note that ticket sales close at 5.30pm daily, and that all rides have differing weight and height restrictions – both minimum and maximum.

2. IOI City Farm
Indoor urban wildlife adventure park
Then, there’s IOI City Farm, an indoor urban wildlife adventure park that’s split into 3 zones – Green Land, Little Rimba, and Fresh Water World. Imagine, it’s a mini zoo, botanical garden, and aquarium all under one roof, within the shopping mall.
First up, Green Land, with 154 species of plants including Venus Flytraps and Trumpet Pitchers, and a Reptile & Amphibian Corner housing cold-blooded creatures like the Poison Dart Frog and Bearded Dragon. Otherwise, there’s a Butterfly Garden & Aviary where you might meet a friendly macaw or two.
Cross over into Little Rimba to meet even more cute animals such as the Fennec Fox, Black Tufted Marmoset, and even hedgehogs, before wandering into Fresh Water World, where you’ll come face to face with sturgeon, stingrays, and even arapaima.
Also at IOI City Farm are interactive experiences: catch your own fish, watch the fish feeding, and interact with their residents – both cold- and warm-blooded.
Tickets to IOI City Farm are RM48 (~S$15.47) on weekdays, and RM58 (~S$18.70) on weekends. Kids below the age of 2 enter free, while senior citizens get a discounted rate of RM32 (~S$10.32).

3. IOI Sports Centre
Rooftop futsal, pickleball & badminton courts
Head up to Level 4 of IOI City Mall, and you’ll find the IOI Sports Centre, a multi-sports facility with badminton, futsal and pickleball courts that are all sheltered from the elements. We even spotted pool tables, where you can play a game for RM15 (~S$4.84).
If your pickleball game has been fudged by low-hanging ceilings and nets, you won’t have to worry here, as their 4 courts have generously high ceilings in a well-ventilated space, with plenty of fans around. You can even rent your paddles and balls here, for RM2 (~S$0.64) a ball, and RM6 (~S$1.93) a paddle.
Book any of their 15 badminton courts from RM10/hour (~S$3.22/hour), pickleball courts from RM35 (~S$11.28/hour), and futsal courts from RM50/hour (~S$16.12/hour). You can even freshen up after your game at their shower facilities.

5. Wangsa Bowl
Bowling alley with 38 lanes
There’s truly something for everyone at IOI City Mall, because apart from all the above, there’s also Wangsa Bowl, a 38-lane bowling alley that you, your friends, family, and the whole kampung can play at, with lanes to spare.
The rates here go in blocks of 30 minutes, with prices from RM18 (~S$5.80) per lane, or 60 minutes from RM35 (~S$11.28) per lane. Shoes are available for rental at RM4 (~S$1.29), and you can also get socks at RM3 (~S$0.97) a pair.

6. Icescape
Malaysia’s only Olympic-sized ice skating rink
Not only is Icescape Malaysia’s first Olympic-sized ice skating rink, it’s also the only one in the country of this size, and has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the biggest ice skating rink in Malaysia.
The ice is resurfaced thrice daily, at 2.30pm, 5pm, and 7.30pm, with each session taking 30 minutes, so take note of these times if you prefer to skate on fresh ice.
An ice skating sesh here is RM35 (~S$11.28) on weekdays, and RM40 (~S$12.90) on weekends. Get your gloves (RM10, ~S$3.22) and socks (RM6, ~S$1.93) at the skate rental counter.

5. GSC East
Biggest family-friendly cinema with ball pit & slide
There’s many things about IOI City Mall that’s the biggest in class, and GSC is no exception – they’re the biggest cinema in Malaysia, with 26 screens across the two wings; GSC East is the newer of the two, completed in 2023.
Apart from the IMAX with Laser, 4DX, and Premiere Class offerings, GSC East is also home to the biggest PlayPark Hall – a kid-friendly cinema experience that’s fun even before the show starts.

There’s a climbing tower, ball pit, play wall, reading corner, and what’s said to be the longest slide within a cinema.

6. Wawa Self Photo Booth
RM20 self-serve photobooth with high angle shots
Getting your shots in at a photobooth in Singapore can be costly, so make sure you sneak in a trip to Wawa Self Photo Booth if you find yourself at IOI City Mall. The self-service store sometimes runs promos at RM10 (~S$3.22) a pop, otherwise they’re RM20 (~S$6.45), which is still a good deal, with the number of booths, accessories, and props that you can pick from.
Plus, they’ve also got a high-angle photobooth too, if you’ve not tried that here.

7. Impulse Gaming
Gaming, model kits & collectible blind boxes
Gamers, collectors, and hobbyists, put Impulse Gaming on your list. This outlet is the hobby store’s 4th flagship, spanning 11,000sqft and stocked to the nines with everything you could possibly dream of.
Besides racing simulators, gaming gadgets and peripherals, the latest PlayStation and Nintendo consoles, games, accessories, and shelves upon shelves of collectibles, you’ll find blind boxes, model figurines, plushies, and toys.

8. Montigo
Get limited-ed bottles & Malaysia-exclusive collections
Yes, Montigo can be found in Singapore too, but the Malaysian stores are where you should go if you like to collect country-exclusive designs and collections. Of course, whether they’re available at the time of your visit is subject to availability, but there’s a good chance that you might be able to get your hands on limited-ed releases that are already sold out in Singapore.
While you’re here, we’ve done the math for you, and yes, the bottles do cost less across the Causeway.

9. Lotus’s
Massive one-stop supermarket
Should you need to stock up your Airbnb for your stay, Lotus’s is the one-stop supermarket that you have to stop at before you leave IOI City Mall. With a mall this big, it’s only befitting that the supermarket is proportionately large, and this mart will not leave you disappointed.
With their latest refresh, they’re bigger and better, with an expanded range of fresh, frozen and dry essentials that you can buy – even in bulk.

10. Eco Plus
Household & lifestyle goods <RM10
Trust us, we were truly sad when Daiso announced that they were no longer a $2 shop. Across the Causeway, however, there’s Eco-Shop, where everything is a flat RM2.60 (~S$0.84); at IOI City Mall, they’ve opened a humongous Eco Plus, the more atas sibling to Eco-Shop.
This is only the 2nd Eco Plus in Malaysia, besides the one at Berjaya Times Square, offering a wider range of household products and daily essentials than at Eco-Shop. They still carry a good selection of RM2.60 items, but prices at this concept store go up to RM10 (~S$3.22).

11. Ju Banquet & Restaurant
Dim sum with a view
Give yourself a treat at Ju Banquet & Restaurant, which you’ll find on Level 3 of this mega mall. The restaurant runs along the side of the building, with double-volume windows that give you a stunning view while you dine on fine Cantonese nosh, including Steamed “Siew Mai” with Quail Egg & Black Truffle (RM17.80, ~S$5.74) and Double-Boiled Shark’s Bone Soup with Fish Maw (RM38, ~S$12.25).

And should you happen to be on the lookout for somewhere to throw a banquet, this restaurant also boasts what’s supposed to be Malaysia’s largest LED screen.

12. Cat Cafe Puchi Marry
Aesthetic pink cat cafe with free-flow drinks

You might find the Puchi Marry name familiar, and you wouldn’t be wrong, because the Cat Cafe Puchi Marry brand has multiple locations in Japan, where they were originally started by the Japanese pet store Coo & Riku.
At their IOI City Mall outlet, which is home to 25 cats, there are cubby holes where you can work or read, cat treats (RM9, ~S$2.90) which you can buy to feed the cats with, a selection of manga, and free-flow drinks.
You can get a 30-minute pass (RM30, ~S$9,67) or a one-day pass (RM70, ~S$22.57), depending on how long you’d like to spend with the cats. Keep an eye on their Instagram page for ongoing promos.

13. Thong Cha Plus
Thai iced tea with tau huey & popcorn
You may be in Malaysia, but you can still get some legit Thai milk tea at Thong Cha Plus, a new entrant to the drinks scene that promises a more experiential, high-end tea experience than your usual. Their house blend of tea leaves stars local BOH tea as well as curated leaves such as Glutinous Pu’er, camelia, jasmine flowers, and even green teas.
Every drink is made to order, and you should definitely try their Signature Popcorn Slushie with Taufufa (RM16.90, ~S$5.45), layered with mochi, beancurd, and popcorn. If you order any of their signature house blend milk teas, remember to keep the tag that comes with your cup, because it carries the scent of the tea that you ordered.

14. Godiva Cafe
Viral chocolate-dipped strawberries, cakes & drinks
Did you know that there used to be a Godiva Cafe in Singapore? It no longer exists, but you can still get the sit-down experience across the Causeway, with indulgent soft serves, drinks, and cakes made with the Belgian chocolatier’s famed cocoa.
Hop on to the viral chocolate strawberries bandwagon with the Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, each priced at RM9 (~S$2.90), coated in 72% Godiva dark chocolate. Go the full mile since you’re here, and have one of their Signature Chocolate Shakes (RM30, ~S$9.67) alongside a slice of Matcha Chocolate Cheesecake (RM28, ~S$9,03).

15. FamilyMart
With sit-down cafe, FamiChiki & egg mayo sando
With the scale of this mall, it’s no surprise that it can even whisk you to Japan with FamilyMart, the famous konbini beloved for its egg sandos, fried chicken and convenience food. And it’s really no surprise by this point that this particular FamilyMart in IOI City Mall houses the brand’s first-ever FamiCafe concept store with cafe food and drinks, and a sit-down space.
