Holiday Ideas with AirAsia

Thinking about your next holiday trip but don’t know where to go and don’t wish to spend a small fortune? For some great ideas, take a look at AirAsia’s direct flight routes. They currently fly direct from Singapore to 17 of the hottest destinations in the region including places like Phuket, Langkawi, Bali and Yogayakarta.

Being a budget airline, their fares are among the lowest you can find. They are also really good at what they do, evidenced by winning the Best Low Cost Airline category Skytrax World Airline Awards every year since 2009!

To make your holiday planning easier, check out their guides complete with gorgeous photography of what to expect to see at each of these destinations. My personal favourite would be Langkawi. Chloe and myself had a great time there recently – read up more on our Langkawi holiday!

Here are some of our other favourites. Clicking on these links will take you directly to their AirAsia guide page!

Now here are two tips to get the most out of your AirAsia Flight!

Order In-Flight Meals in advance!

Some may find meals an unnecessary expense on a budget airline flight. But when they start at just $5, its hard to resist having piping hot meals served up to you in-flight. Flying with an empty stomach is never fun!

Other benefits of ordering in advance are saving up to 20% and the availability of special items that can only be ordered online. To pre-order, either purchase during your booking process or go to “Manage My Booking” after your booking, up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure time.

My pick would be Pak Nasser’s Nasi Lemak ($5 SGD) which was a delectable mix of chicken rendang and sambal served with fragrant coconut rice.

Use their Red Carpet Service

Another option to make your flying experience more enjoyable is their Red Carpet Service. Note that this service differs from airport to airport because of airport regulations. Some of the perks for travellers departing from Singapore are:

  • Dedicated check-in counter –  As shown in the pic below.
  • Priority boarding
  • Access to the Skyview Premium Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 1 where travellers can enjoy free wifi, privacy and buffet!

Definitely shorter than Hello Kitty queues. Wait, there is no queue!
