What to know about Mediacorp’s 2026 FIFA World Cup coverage in Singapore?

It was recently announced that Mediacorp has secured the media rights in Singapore to the FIFA World Cup 2026, along with a whole host of other FIFA-licensed tournaments from now till 2028.

For the football faithfuls, thanks to this acquisition, you’ll be able to catch all 104 matches of the upcoming World Cup and its official ceremonies, as well as all 64 matches and ceremonies of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.


Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium will play host to a total of 8 matches, including the U.S. Men’s National Team’s opening match against Paraguay on 12th June 2026.

This year’s edition of the world cup will also be breaking the mould, as it’ll be featuring 48 participating teams, co-hosted across 3 different countries, namely Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament has also been extended to 39 days, and every second of footballing action will be made available to subscribers on Mediacorp’s digital platform mewatch.


How much will a subscription to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 cost?

Although the price for a subscription to watch all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 has yet to be announced, we can go off what we paid for full coverage of the previous tournament. For reference, a meWatch subscription to catch all 64 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022 started from $98, and rose to $118 after their early bird promotion ended.

Where can I watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 for free in Singapore?


Although you’ll need a paid subscription for total coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026’s 104 matches, Mediacorp has stated that it’ll substantially expand free coverage of the tournament on mewatch and Channel 5.

There’ll be a total of 28 free-to-air matches this year, comprising the competition’s Opening Match where co-hosts Mexico will take on South Africa, 23 Group Stage matches, 2 Semi-Finals, the Third-Place Playoff and the Final.
