There’s An Insect Farm Tour In Tuas Where You Can Learn More About Flies & Even Eat Larvae Snacks

Ento Industries Insect Farm Tour in Tuas

When it comes to farms in Singapore, you might be surprised to find that even in the concrete jungle that is the Little Red Dot, there are still remnants of rustic country living. You’ve got family-favourites like the Hay Dairies goat farm, Bollywood Farms, and Qian Hu Fish Farm, but one you’ve most likely not heard of is Ento Industries’ insect farm.

You heard right; there’s a whole facility in Tuas dedicated to breeding creepy crawlies. Cue Ento Industries, a homegrown biotech company which has set out to tackle the eternal problem of food wastage with an army of Black Soldier Flies. What’s more, they’re even hosting tours of their insect farm where everyone can learn more about their little soldiers and even get hands-on if they’re game; here’s all you need to know about it.

How to get to Ento Industries?

Ento Industries is located along Tuas Avenue 18A, so if you’re travelling from the East, be prepared for a long train ride. Speaking of which, those taking public transport to get there can alight at the Tuas West Road MRT station on the East-West Line. Afterwards, the building will be a 15-minute walk away.

Should you choose to drive or ride down to Ento Industries, there are parking lots right outside the building, which cost $0.60/30 minutes.

What to expect at Ento Industries’ Insect Farm Tour?

The Ento Industries Insect Farm Tour: From Food Waste to Wonder is a 90 minute-long experience, and starts from $45/pax. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite, but do note that they only host the tour periodically – the next one’s happening on 28th June 2026.

The Black Soldier Flies are the main stars of the tour, and you’ll get to learn all about them during the tour. To kick things off, visitors will be led through the gates of the Black Soldier Fly Discovery Zone to get a closer look at the type of food waste the company collects for upcycling.

After a brief rundown on how their machines and systems turn food waste into useful resources, you’re invited to take a peek at the end product, namely sustainable animal feed and Black Soldier Fly frass. FYI, the latter is a natural fertiliser composed of larvae excrement and shed exoskeletons, which thankfully looks and smells just like soil.

Of course, you’ll have opportunities to catch the larvae in action as they chew away at food waste such as banana peels. For the brave, you can even dip your gloved hands into  large containers filled with live larvae to watch them wriggle and squirm about. The next stop of the tour will have you swinging by the facility’s breeding room.

Like its name suggests, it’s where they breed their Black Soldier Flies, and is where the life cycle of their winged warriors begin. You’ll get to view eggs and take in all the gnarly details through a magnifying glass, and there’s even a scheduled snack break.

Those who are squeamish might want to sit this one out though, as you’ll be munching on edible fried larvae which are rich in protein; perfect for gym rats looking to hit their daily protein intake. Lastly, you’ll end off the tour with a lineup of more conventional farm animals, as you get to share the insect goodies by feeding their resident chickens, mice, and fishes.
