How To Use PayLah! To Pay At >250K Merchants Across Taiwan, With No Additional Service Fees Required

Using DBS PayLah! in Taiwan

Taiwan is another favourite holiday destination for Singaporeans, because who can resist chionging through Taipei’s night markets or taking a day trip to Jiufen? If you’re already planning your next trip there, you’ll be glad to know that you can now use DBS PayLah! to scan QR codes and pay merchants in Taiwan, with no additional service fees.

Keep reading to find out how it works.

How can I pay using DBS PayLah! in Taiwan?

Pay for your night market snacks and cute souvenirs using PayLah! at over 250,000 participating merchants across Taiwan, covering around two-thirds of the Taiwan QR Code (TWQR) merchant network. That means less cash to carry around and no need to download a separate payment app just for your holiday.

Fun fact: DBS is the 1st Singapore bank to provide this service, connecting its customers to TWQR for fuss-free payments in Taiwan.

Making a payment is easy too, and can be completed in 4 simple steps:

1. Scan the merchant’s QR code

Open your DBS PayLah! app and use its QR scanner to scan the merchant’s QR code at participating stores.

2. Enter the amount

Some QR codes will automatically populate the payment amount, so you can skip the manual entry. If yours doesn’t, key in the amount in TWD before proceeding.

3. Review the transaction before confirming

Next, double-check the payment details. The app will display the amount in TWD, the current exchange rate, and the equivalent amount you’ll pay in SGD. Once everything looks right, tap “Let’s Go” to confirm the payment.

4. Check your payment status

Then check that you’ve completed the transaction; a payment confirmation page will be displayed once the payment has gone through.

Are there any extra fees?

There are no additional service fees, apart from the currency conversion rate. So if you’d rather skip the hassle of exchanging cash or digging through your wallet for loose change, consider using PayLah! to pay.

Are there any transaction limits?

Your existing PayLah! wallet limits apply to payments made via TWQR too.

Here’s how much you can spend daily:

  • DBS PayLah! – Up to S$2,000 per day
  • DBS PayLah! Lite – Up to S$999 per day

BTW, it’s possible to adjust your personal daily transaction limit within the app, as long as it stays within the maximum limit for your wallet type.

Get cashback when you scan to pay overseas using DBS PayLah!

From 16th November 2026 to 31st January 2027, new users of PayLah!’s overseas QR payment service can enjoy cashback of up to S$3, with no minimum spend required, when they scan to pay at participating merchants in Taiwan.

The app also supports cross-border QR payments in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Spend in these countries during the campaign period, and you’ll get to enjoy the cashback too!

Take note that you must not have used PayLah! for overseas QR payments in the past 12 months to qualify. The cashback is also limited to 1 redemption per customer per month, with only 20,000 redemptions available each month.

There’s more to look forward to. PayLah! users will be able to scan to pay at all participating merchants across the TWQR network from 2027, and the bank will also introduce a payment option in Taiwan where major retailers can scan your PayLah! QR code to complete the transaction.

But before that, familiarise yourself with the app before your next Taiwan trip, so you spend less time figuring out how to pay and more time hunting down your next bowl of lu rou fan.
