After a month of Christmas songs being played at every corner, shopping malls are now switching it up with dong dong chiang tunes. But before you rush into the annual CNY celebrations of house visits and reunion dinners, get into the festive spirit with a slew of exciting activities at Chinatown Point from 3rd – 24th January 2020.

The main attraction? Their Gold Bar Challenge with a whopping $1,888 up for grabs. Besides this grand prize, expect a bevy of CNY snacks to shop for and free performances too. Here’s how to kick off your Lunar New Year:

If you’ve ever dreamt of winning Toto or 4D, here’s something that’ll give you a better chance to strike it big. All you need to do to qualify for the Gold Bar Challenge is spend a minimum of $268* in 3 same-day receipts. Put your mental and physical strength to the test as you lift a 10KG gold bar out of a tiny hole on an acrylic box within a minute, or at least try to. Successful challengers will be rewarded with $188* cash.

While you’re given a minute to retrieve the gold bar, only the 8 fastest contestants will get to partake in the Grand Final. P.S. Only 1 ultimate champion will get to walk home with $1,888* cash in their pocket.

There are only 200 game entry tickets given each day, so it’s fastest shoppers first!

To redeem a Festive Hong Bao design this year that’s only offered in Chinatown Point, simply spend a minimum of $88*.

In addition to the festive CNY songs played through mall speakers, bask in familiar tunes from a 3-piece roving Chinese Orchestra that’s performing live. As you shop, you might even get lucky and bump into the God of Fortune mascot for a photo.

Kids can look forward to getting hands-on with one of Chinatown Point’s 4 enticing workshops. They’ll get to create their own Fortune Cat and Lion Dance Cookies or DIY some couplets to take home. They can even customise their own ang bao holder this year.

For your little one to join the fun, all you have to do is spend $30 in a single same day receipt. There are only 25 spots available for each workshop, so register at the Concierge Counter on Level 2 from 6th January 2020 onwards.
