Charity donation in Singapore

It’s the season for giving, and we don’t just mean presents for your family.

Out there, charities and social service agencies are looking for a helping hand to provide support for families, seniors, and children in need. So if you’d like to take your seasonal giving to the next level, participate in these worthy causes with SG Cares Giving Week and donate to those close to your heart. Here are ways to support charities and get involved right now.

1. Donate Shopee coins to support children with critical illnesses

One of the most charitable moves you can make is probably to turn a child’s dream into reality. By donating to Make-A-Wish Singapore, you can do exactly that.

The charity, which supports children with critical illnesses, pulls funds to make their wishes come true. These wishes range from visiting attractions in Sentosa and meeting a personal hero to having their bedrooms painted.

If putting a smile on a child’s face is high on your agenda, simply donate your Shopee coins on the Shopee app to Make-A-Wish Singapore.

2. Get your gifts wrapped by Love For A Dollar volunteers

Don’t settle for an average wrap job. Instead, take it up a notch and bring the fam’s Christmas prezzies to the charitable gift-wrapping booth at City Square Mall

Run by a team of volunteers from Love For A Dollar between 15th and 24th December 2023, the booth guarantees your presents will look as great on the outside as they are inside. At $2 per gift, it’s definitely a steal. Plus, 100% of the proceeds will go to help people in need under Care Community Services Society.

3. Donate $20 to receive a knot bag illustrated by cancer survivors

During an Art Therapy session, the cancer survivors at Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) have designed reversible festive knot bags for the holiday season.

To get your hand on one of these bags, all you have to do is donate a minimum of $20 at either Metro outlets in Paragon and Causeway Point or the information booth at The Clementi Mall from now till 31st December 2023. All funds raised will go directly to the organisation to support cancer patients and their families. Plus, because you needed another reason to buy more bags.

Having been around since 2019, the organisation aims to help seniors feel less isolated and lonely. It does so by providing them jobs, learning opportunities, and wellness programmes. If you’d like to get involved, simply flick your EZ-Link app open and redeem points. For every 500 EZ-Link reward points, you’ll get $0.50 which can go straight to the nonprofit.

6. Buy a pudding at Paris Baguette to help children

Pastries powerhouse Paris Baguette pledges to give 10% of its Magical Berry Royal Pudding sales to grant sick children’s wishes.

It’s a great excuse to stuff yourself with multiple puddings because technically, you’re doing a good deed while also eating good. The fundraising event is happening across all Paris Baguette outlets, so come have a pudding and make the world a better place.

7. Donate to WWF by buying an eco-friendly gift

Known for their eco-friendly gifts for mums, babies, and families, Hello Little Chompers is the perfect place to shop at for the little ones in your life.

Better still, the company uses clean and recycled materials for its packaging and donates $0.50 per piece of packaging saved to fund the sustainable projects at WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). As well as doing good, the stuff from Hello Little Chompers looks good. Their handmade baby clips and plush toys will make great gifts.
