Changi Airport has long been more than just a place to catch flights. From its lush Butterfly Garden to the recently opened Fit&Fun Zone, the airport has become a go-to for wellness and nature lovers alike. Even beyond the terminals, travellers can stretch their legs along outdoor spaces like the Jurassic Mile trail.
Now, there’s a new green sanctuary to add to your layover checklist. Tucked just outside Terminal 2, the Bamboo Grove is Changi’s latest nature spot, offering a peaceful pit stop for joggers, cyclists, and anyone looking to hit pause for a moment. Here’s what to expect:
Just a 3-minute stroll from Hub & Spoke Café, the Bamboo Grove sits quietly along the Changi Airport Connector. It’s the perfect detour for joggers, cyclists, or anyone stretching their legs between flights. Plus, it’s located alongside attractions like Jurassic Mile, Jurassic Bark Dog Run, and the Butterfly Trail.

Here’s something cool: the Bamboo Grove is billed as the world’s first outdoor bamboo garden at an airport. It’s been designed with wellness in mind, for both fitness enthusiasts and travellers in transit to hit pause and soak in a moment of calm before the day carries on.
If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering Kyoto’s famous bamboo grove, this might be the next best thing. Changi’s Bamboo Grove takes inspiration from tranquil East Asian landscapes, designed to offer the same zen-like calm you’d find in Japan’s Arashiyama.
A curated mix of bamboo species lines the garden, such as Black Bamboo with its striking dark stalks, Buddha Belly Bamboo with its unique bulges, and Giant Bamboo that can tower up to 30 metres high. These tall, swaying clusters are framed by carefully placed stone boulders, flowering shrubs, and simple walking paths made of stone slabs.

There are also benches scattered throughout the space so you can sit back, breathe in the fresh air, and take a mindful pause before heading on your way.
The Bamboo Grove isn’t the only new spot turning heads at Changi. Terminal 2 recently underwent a revamp, and one of its standout additions is a first-of-its-kind mangrove aquarium in the departure transit area.
Designed to spotlight Singapore’s native biodiversity, the exhibit features over 30 aquatic and intertidal species – think mudskippers, brittle stars, and quirky crabs like the horseshoe, hermit, and even decorator crabs. It’s almost like a mini Pulau Ubin right inside the airport.
Changi Airport is one of Singapore’s biggest flexes – and with new additions like the Bamboo Grove, it’s easy to see why it ranks among the best in the world. The next time you’re catching a flight or are just in the area, carve out a little time to explore this tranquil new corner just outside Terminal 2.
