Beyond The Glass Ceiling: BFFL at *SCAPE
With February being the month of love, it’s high time for us to celebrate the true loves of our lives – our friendships. And what better way than to gather your pals for a much-needed Valentine’s date?
If you’re looking for a wholesome activity to do together this month, check out Beyond The Glass Ceiling: BFFL at *SCAPE, an event that’s all about female empowerment. This year’s edition will play host to a bunch of fun activities, from slime-making and vision boarding, to conversations with industry experts across various backgrounds and fields. The event is open to all, BTW! Not just ladies.
What is Beyond The Glass Ceiling?

Beyond The Glass Ceiling (BTGC) is an initiative started in 2023 by *SCAPE. As with its 2 previous runs, it aims to get youths talking about important topics like gender equality, diversity, and conservation, whilst giving them the chance to hear from industry professionals through panel discussions.
This year’s edition – aptly titled BFFL, a.k.a Best Friends For Life, will take place at *SCAPE on 15th February 2025, from 10.30am to 6pm. Tickets cost $12/pax.
Manifest your 2025 goals with a vision boarding session

If you, like us, want your life to be something straight out of a Pinterest board, then this activity is for you. For those who haven’t heard of vision boarding before, it’s basically goal-setting in mood board format – you print out aesthetic pictures to make a collage of your dream life, and it later serves as a daily reminder of your goals.
BTGC’s craft session will be facilitated by the ultra cool Marian Carmel, an SG-based singer and visual artist. At her session, you’ll be provided with essential vision boarding materials like A3 art paper, scissors, glue, and magazines for inspo. But to ensure your board is completely personalised, be sure to bring print-outs of your own pics beforehand.
Make your own slime & create woven artworks

We’ll never get too old to enjoy slime, and in particular, the therapeutic process of making it. At BTGC, slime confectionery Quaint Candy will be hosting a DIY slime workshop where you’ll get to make and bring home your very own pots of gooey goodness. Let’s just say our inner kids are squealing!

Local textile artist, Natalia Tan, will also be showing guests the ropes behind the intricate art of textile weaving. In the Weaving Wishes workshop, you’ll get to create your own colourful woven crafts.
Hear from industry experts at Big Sis Circle

We can all agree that it’s not easy being a girl in this society. At Big Sis Circle, you’ll get some much-needed big sister advice about pressing societal issues, and how to navigate life’s challenges. This year’s panel includes guest speakers Kathy Xu, a marine conservationist, Chan Kah Mun, a public speaker and sustainability advocate, and Opera Tang, a local drag artist.
Kathy will impart knowledge from her years of experience in environmental conservation, while Kah Mun will host a journaling workshop, where she’ll teach attendees how to practice self-reflection through writing. Don’t miss Opera’s sharing of her personal journey and how she learnt to be boldly and unapologetically herself.
Make new friends at the Galentine’s Tea Party

Activities aside, you’ll also get to mingle with fellow attendees at the Galentine’s Tea Party. This even includes the speakers themselves – so who knows, you might leave BTGC with a couple of new friends.
