There’s A New Alpaca Petting Cafe In JB With No Entrance Fees & Cute Desserts For Animal Lovers

As Clouds Cafe – A new alpaca cafe in JB

Heads up alpaca lovers, you don’t have to fly to far-off places to pet the fluffy creatures. A new alpaca cafe, As Clouds Cafe has opened just 30 minutes from the Causeway, in Johor Bahru!

A pair of the woolly animals, native to South America, are now residents of the super-new cafe in Malaysia━which began operations earlier this month. Do note that they take turns to make their appearances in the cafe, so you might only see one of these cuties at any time.

Free entry & carrots with the purchase of a menu item

Located in Skudai, As Clouds Cafe is free-for-all, meaning there aren’t any entry fees or tickets required. You won’t have to worry about booking ahead of your visit too, since all you’ll have to do is walk in and order a food or drink item off their menu.

You’ll also be given carrots to feed the friendly alpacas with. They don’t take reservations, so come early to avoid having to queue, and check out As Clouds Cafe Instagram page for any updates in their operating hours.

Brekkie & chill with free-roaming alpacas

The menu at As Clouds Cafe is pork- and lard-free, with brunch fare including Scrambled Eggs Croissant with Bacon (RM18.90/S$5.32) and Clouds Breakfast (RM23.90/~S$6.73). Here, you can pick from beef bacon or chicken ham to pair with baked beans, sourdough toast, button mushrooms, scrambled eggs and more.

End your meal on a sweet note with the viral wobbly Big Cat Pudding (RM15/~S$4.23), while on the drinks front there’s Iced French Rose Latte (RM14.90/~S$4.20) too.

Industrial-chic, IG-worthy decor

The long, narrow cafe is decked out in simple grey, with its namesake clouds doubling up as lights. That’s not all: these cute lamps “float” up and down, much like cotton wool-puffs of clouds up in the sky.

Seats line one wall of the cafe, with half of the other side occupied by bar stools, with a single aisle down the space for the alpacas to freely roam.

If you’re here for the ‘Gram, make sure to get one of the boucle armchairs by the full-length windows at the front of the cafe. More suited for drinks and light bites, these armchairs are paired with statement coffee tables sporting elegant white-and-grey marble-esque tops, and fluted column legs.

That’s not all━the pebbled floor completes the clean grey look so you and the alpacas are sure to be the star of any photos you take.

How to get to As Clouds Cafe?

As Clouds Cafe is located in Skudai, Johor. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, Skudai is geographically closer to the Woodlands Checkpoint, and it should take you approximately 30 minutes by car, traffic jams excluded.

Level up your animal cafe game with the pair of alpacas at As Clouds Cafe. They’re said to be super friendly and obedient, plus easily won over with the carrots that you can get from the staff at the cafe.

Lastly, if you’re concerned about potential odours, it seems that there aren’t any of the associated smells that come with animals, so you can rest assured that you’ll definitely be able to enjoy your meal here. Fair warning, however, that queues at the cafe can get quite long, especially on the weekends, since they’re fairly new.
