About Studio M Hotel
Studio M Hotel is the first in Singapore to have a loft-inspired design in all its 360 rooms of the hotel. Located at Robertson Quay and in the heart of Singapore at Robertson Quay, Studio M Hotel’s convenient location makes exploration a breeze. Even locals like ourselves would be surprised at how accessible the hotel is to nearby dining and shopping options and the vibrant nightlife in the vicinity.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with an impressive welcome and a mesmerizing sight – the chandelier. It was hard to take our eyes off it while we were checked into our room by the receptionist, with whom we experienced the hotel’s hospitality for the first time. Needless to say, we felt at home already even before seeing the highly-anticipated room.
The Rooms
Executive Loft
Audrey and I were in for a treat this staycation. We stayed in the Executive Loft and the first thing that took our breaths away was the full length windows which made the room appear bigger than it already is. Since we got a corner room, the view of Robertson Quay and the city skyline was the cherry on top. It was too great a view to behold that the haze didn’t even bother us!
Instagram addicts like ourselves would be drawn to the minimalism of Studio M Hotel. When the sun shone through the sheer curtains during the day, the filtered sunlight set a completely different ambience. Being a fan of the timeless wooden and white combination, I fell in love with the room’s interior immediately. If this was my home, I’ll probably not leave at all if I didn’t have to.
To keep this white space completely free of mess, storage space is stashed all around the room. If we hadn’t went hunting for drawers, they would’ve went unnoticed. Its layout perfectly simulates that of a space-saving, well-furnished studio unit. Aesthetically pleasing, compact, and functional. This space has a knack for making guests feel at home even if the stay was temporary.
Work and play are separated at Studio M Hotel – making it an ideal retreat if your partner is a true workaholic. The bed and workstations are located on different levels within the loft, and the room is also furnished with 2 television sets complete with a wide selection of channels. You never have to step out of the room to keep yourself entertained.
The beds at Studio M Hotel were the true embodiment of comfort. It felt like we were laying on a cloud made entirely of feathers as we fell asleep. We woke up from a restful night feeling happy and rejuvenated. But if it weren’t for the buffet breakfast, we’ll never crawl out of bed.
Studio Loft
I know a couple of friends who’ve booked specially for the most sought-after Studio Loft due to its distinctive “bamboo trees” background, which added a peaceful and tranquil touch to the ambience.
Facilities
Deck
On the second level, we were greeted with a spacious, tropical-themed deck – an open area comprising of multiple seating areas and 3 isolated cabanas. It is the perfect place to relax in privacy while being out in the open, and a good mix of business and pleasure.
This space is accessible with your room card, so you don’t have to worry about strangers coming up to chill out and crowd the place!
Pool
Within the same radius of the deck lies an inviting 25-metre lap pool in a beautiful shade ofturquoise. To feel the cool, chilly water splashing against your skin is a glorious feeling on a hot, sunny day. What would a staycation be without taking a dip in the pool at least once, right?
The lap pool creates the perfect distinction between exercising and relaxing. We absolutely loved our time by the pool, for it was a timely getaway from our hectic schedules to simply sit down and take a breather. Furthermore, the area was fairly empty while we were there, granting us the privacy and solitude for a restful time.
Gym
This is one of the most unique gyms I’ve come across, for it had an open-air concept.
To be able to exercise in an environment with natural air flow, sunlight and shade is a dream come true for those who aren’t fond of working out under the scorching sun or in air-conditioning. It’s not hard to see why it’s so popular among travelers.
Dining Options
Memo
Memo bar sits at the first floor of Studio M Hotel, and is a comfy place for business associates to have a casual chat, or for couples to have a hearty sandwich or pastry with a warm cup of latte. What caught our attention was the strikingly bright confectioneries proudly displayed on the shelves, which also looked highly instagrammable, by the way.
Presented with the huge menu, we found ourselves spoilt for choice by the selection. With tidbits, chocolate bars and chilled drinks, you don’t even have to step out of the hotel at all!
Al Fresco Buffet Breakfast at Level 2
No staycation is complete without a wholesome breakfast buffet – one of the things I look forward to most.
The hotel’s designated Al Fresco F&B outlet at level 2 offers an international breakfast buffet spread to its guests from 6.30 AM to 10.30 AM everyday. The size of the buffet spread was not extravagant, but homely and satisfying.
The sunny side-ups were the biggest selling point. Once it was sliced, the runny golden yolk oozed out immediately. This classic done well was everything a good sunny side-up should be. Dip a pinch of toast into the flowy goodness and savor its richness with each bite. That is heaven right there.
Things to do
When you decide that you might wanna get up from the soft sheets and comfy room after all, there’s loads to do in the vicinity if you’re up for some exploration.
With the Urban Dining Program, Studio M Hotel offers a selection of discounts with selected partners nearby. We stopped right across the road at The Book Cafe for a quick lunch after check-in, and found ourselves entitled to a 20% discount when we presented our room cards!
If you’re looking to do wind down with some retail therapy, Central @ Clarke Quay & Liang Court are both a short walk away from the hotel. If you’re too lazy to walk it, there’re complimentary shuttle services to certain locations, even some in the heart of Orchard Road.
Verdict
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Studio M Hotel.
The service was warm, homely and familiar all at once. Stepping into the room felt like being at home away from home. We were well taken care of, and the worries of our restless days came to a standstill over the 2 days we spent here.
Our experience at Studio M Hotel was neither lavish nor budget, but a good balance between being comfortable and pampered. Muted, but unique in its own right. It was a great invigoration for the start of a brand new week. Whether you’re looking for a getaway with your partner or BFF, or just to spend some me-time over a weekend, we highly recommend a staycation at Studio M Hotel.
