Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026: Market In JB Open Daily Till 12AM, With Affordable Pineapple Tarts & Abalone

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar

If there’s one thing Singaporeans love more than a public holiday, it’s a good deal, especially when it involves stocking up on enough pineapple tarts and oranges to feed a small village. While our local supermarkets are great, there’s just something about the vibes – and the exchange rate – in JB that hits different. Enter the Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar, the OG of festive markets.

If you’re tired of the air-conditioned malls in JB and want a real huat experience, this is the place to be. Happening from now till 16th February 2026, we’re talking over 60 stalls lined with red lanterns, and the smell of bak kwa wafting through the air.

What to expect at the Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar in 2026

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - entrance

The Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar isn’t just a market; it’s a neighbourhood transformation. Every year, the streets of Jalan Dedap turn into a festive Chinese New Year pasar malam. You’ll find stalls selling everything from cheap CNY snacks to premium abalone and fresh fruits at prices a lot more palatable than in SG. Plus, they’re open till midnight daily.

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - market

It’s unlikely you’re going just to see-see look-look. You’re here to dabao back cartons of oranges, boxes of pineapple tarts, and perhaps a hamper or two. Unlike the fancy malls, Johor Jaya is known for its budget-friendly prices and mom-and-pop vendors. So, what’s worth your money and effort? We went down to find out.

CNY snacks like cookies, savoury chips & abalone

Expect to find mountain-high stacks of cookie tins at almost every other stall in this market. We found melt-in-your-mouth pineapple tarts going for as low as 3 boxes for RM40 (~S$12.86) which comes to S$4.29/box; and 3 cans of abalone for RM50 (~S$16.07), amounting to S$5.36/can.

Apart from the usual flavours, we spotted some interesting variations of love letters and cookies incorporating ingredients like sunflower seeds and pistachio.

Giant bottles of popcorn (RM38, ~S$12.22) and chocolate ingots (RM18, ~S$5.79) can make great gifts to neighbours and colleagues as they are suitable for bigger groups.

At most stalls, these CNY treats are sold in bulk for a steal. The more you get, the cheaper each unit becomes, so it’s worth getting them for the full extended family and your friends.

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - savoury snacks

And if you don’t really have a sweet tooth, there’s plenty of savoury snacks too, like spicy tapioca chips (RM13, ~S$4.18) and pumpkin crackers (RM8, ~S$2.57).

Gift bags ranging from RM99 (~S$31.83) to RM 199 (~S$63.97).

No CNY visiting is complete without juggling a slew of gifts to delight the host. We spotted several creative hampers here, including a tote bag inspired by a certain luxury brand ahem ahem. Most of them contain the usual goodies – abalone, bird’s nest, and some variation of alcohol.

When it comes CNY decor, the options are endless, whether you want to go all out with giant glitzy lanterns, or stick to paper hangings.

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - horses decor

As it is the Year of the Horse, it’s no surprise that it’s the animal you’ll be seeing a lot of at the bazaar. Well, if you want to stand out or have a more kid-friendly theme, go for the My Little Pony horse cutouts.

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - decor

We also came across decor made from sugar, which should last up to 2 years, and golden piggy coinbanks (RM18, ~S$5.79).

Not forgetting faux flowers and little trinkets that can also be found for pretty affordable rates.

P.S. Real plants will need to be tested for their soil and require additional expenses before they can be brought back to Singapore, so don’t bother purchasing those.

Street food

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - bak kwa

Did you even celebrate Chinese New Year if you didn’t indulge in some bak kwa? Ah Ping Ge had a super long queue when we passed by their stall, and they’ve got rave reviews for being popular.

Slabs of bak kwa were priced at RM54 (~S$17.36) for 500g, while the bacon strips started from RM23.80 (~S$7.65) for 200g.

Keep in mind that this is only for consumption within Malaysia; you’re not allowed to bring bak kwa across the border. FYI, here’s a list of prohibited items you can’t bring from JB to Singapore.

When you get thirsty, try one of the bottled drinks. They’ve got sparkling water in various flavours as well as teas and sodas.

There are also other street foods like Ramly burgers, fried chicken, and prawn fritters to munch on while you jalan jalan, but these stalls are only active at night.

Is it worth visiting the Johor Jaya CNY bazaar?

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - outdoor area

Johor Jaya offers that old-school pasar malam vibe that’s hard to find in Singapore in 2026. It’s where the locals shop, so there are no gimmicky overpriced dishes. You get to haggle a bit, taste-test almost every cookie before buying, and soak in the unfiltered festive chaos. Plus, the prices are generally 10%-20% cheaper than the mall counterparts.

Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar 2026 - fruit stall

Is the Johor Jaya CNY Bazaar open every day?

Yes! From 23rd January to 16th February 2026, it runs daily from 6am to midnight. However, the most happening time is after 6pm when the food stalls are in full swing.

Can I bring bak kwa back to Singapore?

No. Strictly speaking, you cannot bring meat products across the border into Singapore. Stick to buying cookies, crackers, and decorations to avoid any unpleasant encounters with ICA.

Do vendors accept SG QR or Credit Cards?

Most stalls are cash-only, especially the smaller snack and fruit vendors. Some larger booths might accept Touch ‘n Go eWallet, but it’s best to carry enough Ringgit to avoid disappointment.
