HCMC University of Technology Offers Tuition Fee Discounts From 25% To Help Students After COVID-19

University reduces tuition fees after COVID-19

Due to the impact of COVID-19, many people lost their jobs and were unable to provide for their families. Even though Vietnam’s economy is slowly improving, many households are still having a hard time to recover financially.

To support its underprivileged students returning to school after COVID-19, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) has offered to give students tuition fee discounts from 25% to 75%.

Nearly 300 students will get tuition fee discounts

In the wake of the coronavirus crisis that has taken a toll on the finances of many Vietnamese households, HCMUT will drop tuition fees to help take the financial pressure off its students and their families.

In the 2nd semester of this school year, nearly 300 students of HCMUT will enjoy lower tuition fees, says HCMUT on its official website. Tuition fee discounts will depend on each student’s financial background.

I was offered 75% discounts on my tuition fees for the 2nd semester. I’m very happy because it helps me tide over this challenging period,” shared Le Minh Khanh, a senior student majoring in Engineering and Construction.

Helping students find jobs by organizing a job fair

For its students who will graduate soon, HCMUT cooperated with numerous companies to host the Bach Khoa E-Job Fair 2020 to help them find jobs.

At the job fair, nearly 400 senior students had the opportunity to interview with representatives from both local and international companies, such as Suntory Pepsico Vietnam, Unilever Vietnam, Bosch Vietnam, and Viettel.

In a time when businesses are still busy healing from the crisis and jobs are no longer plentiful, a job fair is a great opportunity to find a job and earn professional income.

The university currently has over 930 staff and faculty with 11 fields of study. Over the years, HCMUT and its alumni have made significant contributions to Vietnam’s scientific advancements, the most notable of which are the inventions of the rice ATM and Vietnam’s first online water monitoring system.

University give students tuition fee discounts after COVID-19

The coronavirus crisis has caused significant changes in the higher education system around the world. From online study to loss of income that results in students’ inability to afford tuition fees, the struggle for both students and faculty will drag on until the COVID-19 pandemic is completely stamped out.

Hopefully the tuition fee discounts will encourage cash-strapped students to not give up on their education and make them feel cared for during this tough period.
