Vietnam’s COVID-19 daily case count continues to hit double digits as the country’s efforts to curb the spread of the next wave escalates.
According to the Ministry of Health, COVID-19 clusters have been found in Danang, Yen Bai, K Hospital, and Hanoi Hospital For Tropical Diseases. Meanwhile, the new string of infections detected in Hai Duong comes from an illegal immigrant from Laos. Infections associated with these clusters have spread to 26 provinces, amounting to 442 cases.

As of 11th May, Vietnam has reported 28 confirmed cases in Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Lang Son, and Hai Duong. Most of these cases are direct contacts of infected patients at clusters. They have been quarantined to monitor their symptoms earlier.
The latest patient in Hai Duong reported herself to local authorities after she visited Bac Ninh. She was sent for a COVID-19 test and the result came out positive on 10th May.

According to Tuoi Tre, 511 students and teachers who are infected cases’ direct contacts have been sent to dedicated facilities for treatment.

Just a month ago, we were happily preparing for our impending holidays, without the need to socially distance or avoid gatherings. As Vietnam is facing a 4th wave of COVID-19 cases, we should continue to take these precautionary measures seriously. As long as there is still one community case out there, none of us is safe.
To break the cycle of infections, let’s adopt mask-wearing in public places, steer clear of large gatherings, and install the Bluezone app to monitor the situation 24/7.
