Ba Son Station was completed on 29th April
It’s been 9 years since Saigon’s metro line project first kicked off. Due to multiple delays, the metro has yet to start operations. When the latest COVID-19 wave hit, many of us wondered if it would result in prolonged delays for the project.
Nonetheless, every cloud has a silver lining. Despite the travel restrictions amid the escalating COVID-19 pandemic, the Ba Son Station of Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line has been completed.Â
Here’s a glimpse into Saigon’s most modern public transport facility once the metro line begins operations.

Awash in shades of white and grey, clean lines, and ample lighting, the future transit facilities boast modern aesthetics for a bright commuting environment.Â

Ba Son Station has 5 access points, including one near Saigon River, one close to VPBank Tower, one not far from Ba Son Company, while the others are adjacent to Vinhomes Golden River residence.
The station got its name from its surroundings, which was the historic Ba Son Port where the grandest shipbuilding activities in Southeast Asia once took place.Â
Saigon metro project is progressing slowly, but surely
The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on our lives, economy, and infrastructure projects. With year-long travel restrictions on top of other difficulties, the metro project has encountered numerous troubles.Â
Against all odds, it’s great to see that the metro project is still up and running. After the removal of barriers on Le Loi Street, the completion of Ba Son Station has offered us a glimpse into the physical transformation of the city.
We can’t wait for what’s in store next.
