Having food delivered to your home has become even more of a social norm since the pandemic – long queues of food delivery persons seem to be waiting in front of every restaurant.

These individuals usually work long shifts and have to travel across great distances, so it’s probably frustrating when their orders get cancelled.

However, one foodpanda rider turned a cancelled order into something positive for his customers: on 21st March 2020, Facebook user, Mi Fuangratdä shared that her rider gave her two free tubs of ice cream from his previous listing.

Cancelled orders result in wasted time

The foodpanda rider mentioned in Mi Fuangratdä’s post has been making a point to give food from cancelled orders to the next customer.

Translation: Yesterday around 11PM – 12AM, I ordered my chicken rice. The delivery man called me and sounded unhappy. When I went out to get my orders, it turned out that the delivery man was an angel with an old motorbike. After I paid for my orders, the uncle was trying to give me two tubs of ice cream, which he told me was from a cancelled order. Then the uncle left, and I felt bad for him that he had to work so late and receive cancelled orders.

I called him again and asked, “Uncle, are you far away from me?” I’ll pay for the cancelled orders. The total costs were ฿220 (~USD7.10) of the four ice cream tubs, and I compensated for another ฿70 (~USD2.26) for coming back to see me. At first, he refused to receive money from me before he left.

Even though the delivery company compensates for the time and deliveries of cancelled orders, netizens are more focused on the time lost from cancellations.
