over "marketed" deals

I think the only problem with deals.com is not the company or site itself, but rather the companies that collaborate with them. Deals.com acts just like any other marketing or advertising platform, where it becomes another point of contact between the companies and consumers. I am totally satisfied with deals.com but certainly not with the companies themselves.

Most of the deals I got from deals.com are hair deals such as hair treatment, hair dye, hair rebonding etc. They are so common that you can new hair deals almost every day; some are new salons while others are frequent “deals salons”. The one thing that disappoints me about these “services” companies is the overuse of deals.com only as a site to attract consumers over so as to hard sell their other products or services with higher margins. Many a times, the services that on are deals are not the ones that you will be getting. You will probably be asked to upgrade the service because they will say that the ones on deals are of lower quality and then starts pushing you into different products and services. Of course consumers can always say no, but it just disappoints me that most of the deals item/services I bought are of low quality that I have to upgrade them every time. "You get what you pay for" is certainly true.

Of course there are still really nice and committed companies and I will probably still look around at deals.com. However, checking for reviews before buying any deals is a must!

occasional price differences

As always with all other Groupon-like websites, be sure to read the terms and conditions of the deals and goods before buying them; especially the travel deals. The cheap prices of the deals can be so attractive that they can distract you form being cautious – there are usually other hidden costs like taxes which are usually more expensive than the deal itself. If not, you’ll probably end up paying more than you expected and the deal is just not worth it anymore!

This website definitely has more deals than Groupon. It might be just me, but I think Groupon just has way too little deals relative to larger websites like Deal.com.sg and alldealsasia. Groupon just pales in comparison, really.

That aside, when I first saw the layout of the website, I thought that it was a scam website (honestly!). That might just be my opinion, but be rest assured that it certainly is not a scam website.

My advice for purchasing such deals – all these websites usually have similar deals for identical items, so be sure to check all of them out from every website first; there are some occasional price differences! I remember seeing a difference of $1 for a portable charger – AllDealsAsia had the deal for a dollar a cheaper for the exact same charger than Groupon (yeah it might just be a dollar but still…)!

A surprisingly easy deal

Following the Groupon scandal some time back, I had always been rather skeptical of such online websites and what they had to offer.

My first experience with Deal.com earlier this year, however, did somewhat change my views.

After much deliberation and reading the terms and conditions over and over, I finally decided to take a gamble to order a deal for yusheng (a Chinese New Year dish) from a top restaurant at 66% off.

The deal went through surprisingly smoothly - and of course, being the sceptic I was, I was half-worried. Little did I expect that not only were there no strings attached in the deal, I had no trouble claiming my order from the related restaurant and was given exactly what the deal had promised - yusheng, discount and all.

Pleased with my first deal, I'm now a pretty regular viewer of the Deal.com website, and though I've yet to make further orders, I must say I'm impressed by the site's simple and organised layout and easy navigation processes.

Whether I will consistently get the same positive experience for other deals, only time will tell. But for now, it's a site that's earned my trust.

Purchase at your own risk

Deal.com.sg is another great option when it comes to bargain hunting. You’d be able to find many deals ranging from products to services. Of course, at discounted prices (up to 70%, wow!), there must be some hidden terms that many may neglect.

It is best to take caution when purchasing package deals (i.e. waxing/manicures). It could be due to the large amount of people who fell for the “promotion”, making it difficult to schedule appointments as the companies may not have enough staff to cope with the crowd. As such, expiration dates of the deals would cause customers to lose out.

I would definitely NOT purchase the travel deals (either they give you flights with bad timings or have plenty of hidden charges) — come on, you're better off with a travel agency at the very least!

I started off buying vouchers from Deal.com.sg for restaurants that I frequent. The vouchers help me save quite a significant amount (usually 50% to 70%) from what I would have paid for anyway. And since I have been dining at those restaurants all along, I do not have any problem or issue with their quality of food and services, and using the vouchers have been a pleasant experience.

Then I started getting more adventurous and bought vouchers for deals that look attractive at restaurants I have not tried. Most turn out to be pleasant but a few of them do have a discrepancy between the pictures and description from how the meal actually turned out. I guess the issues lie with the merchants and not the Deal.com.sg site.

I'll definitely be on the lookout for good deals every couple of days ...

It was during Halloween that I realized how awesome this website was. I was pretty interested in going to this Halloween Horror Nights 2 everyone's crazyyyyy over but a ticket cost $68! Utterly expensive.

I was lucky enough to be subscribed to deal.com.sg and they sent me an email stating a deal of $68 including an admission to the Halloween Horror Nights 2 event, admission to the Maritime Experiential Museum and $10 meal voucher in USS!

With the same price we got an extra 2 benefit. How can I not love this?
You must be thinking the 2 benefits are not even useful. But no. Visiting Maritime Museum was totally worth it and the vouchers came in handy when we were queuing up for a haunted house and we got hungry. So very useful.

Every now and then whenever I want some good deals, I would go on to deal.com.sg to find some!

I bought a deal for a 2 day 1 night stay at Pulau Ubin's Celestial Resort from Deals.com.sg and I was rather impressed.

There were no hidden charges whatsoever and all I had to do was email Celestial Resort a copy of the coupon as well as my particulars and I was set! And among all the online coupon stores, I'd say that Deals.com.sg has the cheapest deals even for similar products. As for overseas trips, I'd advise everyone to read the fine print carefully to see what the deal actually covers!

Deal.com.sg has expanded a lot since it first started, from a few deals a day it has grown to 100 over deals going on everyday. It is probably one of the more popular deals website in Singapoe at the moment.

I've purchased quite a few deals from this website such as dining deals, cakes discount and travelling deals! One of my favourite, a Mother's day cake at 717 Trading. It was approximately $10 off its usual price and came just in time for the occasion.

Bought a discounted Package to Hongkong too, i overlooked the dateline for redemption on the fine print and had to pay another $300 to rectify it. Else for the price of $298 for 4* hotel stay and return trip on Hongkong airlines will be really worth it. Overall it was still a good deal, fuss-free.

So no matter how good the deal seem like, please read through the fine-print thoroughly before purchasing the voucher.

Overall, if you can get discounts off dining, products and travel right at your fingertips, why not?
With this standard of living, this website really helps us save!

some is better than none

With the upcoming of more and more of such sites, it is important to keep a competitive front as compared to the others. Initially I was rather impressed with the deals that deal.com.sg came up with as there were significant discounts on various things that I liked to purchase. However, as time went by, I felt that there were other sites that had cheaper alternatives for particular sections like travels.

Being an avid online shopper, I would say that I constantly am on the lookout for deals that are better before purchasing. Time and time again however, I am rather disappointed in the limited discount offered by this web. There would be certain times when they really do offer good deals, and more relevant products that I am looking for as compared to the other webs. Hence, in my point of view having a little discount is better than having none at all. Saving a little from this site is still cheaper than buying it off from the stores. It really makes me wonder though, if the things can go so cheap on such websites, are we actually being exploited by buying them in the stores?!

I would usually use this site more on household items or random discounts rather than on travel coupons. A slight note to observe would be to read the fine prints before purchasing the coupon as there are usually restrictions and terms and conditions written on it.

I rarely use websites that deal with online shopping platform. The reason being, I've always been skeptic in using them as I wasn't sure whether the information is accurate or not. It was only a few months back that my friend introduced me to Deal.com.sg Eventually I went to check them out since it's associated with Yahoo! So I figured this website should be legit.

Turns out I was right after all. It's a breeze to online shop at the website. Oh I should let you guys know this first. I was planning to buy a ukulele. After watching countless of videos of Jung Sungha(or Seongha Jeong) playing his ukulele on youtube, I decided to buy one for myself. However, this plan of mine was on hold for a few months as many of them are way too expensive for me.

It wasn't until I found out that Deal.com.sg is selling them at only S$28.80! It even comes with a soft case and pick. Initially, I actually thought that my eyes were playing a trick on me but nope. Which means that I managed to save S$60-$70+.

Tip: Always check out the bestsellers and travel categories! They have the best deals.
