For people who are frequent Taobao shoppers, this place will be a pass. With many shops carrying Taobao goods, many of the clothing sold are repetitive and sold at similar prices. Though items are affordable, there is a lack of variety.

Furthermore, for people who like casual wear and graphics like me, there isn't much to shop. For a starter, basic tees are hard to find. From me and my friends previous experiences, none of us have actually found basic tees in Bugis Street. However, you can easily find denim shorts there and there is a shop on the 2nd floor on the second floor that sells good quality graphic crop top and tees.

Thus, although Bugis Street offers affordable clothing, the variety is very limited and repetitive.

Walking around Bugis Street, I am always struck by 2 things. First is the stifling air. The whole street in sheltered by tentage which, combined with crowds and insufficient ventilation, makes it hot and stifling especially on a hot day.

Second would be the low prices of the clothes and other miscellaneous items you find there. You can get all kinds of clothes for as low as $10 or even lower! But you have to beware that the clothes are not of the best quality. Most that I have bought there do not last long. Some will shrink after a few washes, others like printed design T-shirts have their prints come off after wearing a few time.

Overall not a bad place to shop for cheap clothes if you can put up with the hot air and are aware of the quality you get.

Cheap, cheap stuff

A few years back, I get most of my clothes from Bugis Street. They're cheap, and they try to keep in trend. But now I'm older and has some income to myself (though not much), I barely even step here anymore.

Not being a snob or anything, but the quality of the clothes here are all a joke. I guess that's why they're so cheap. A few washes, and they will look ragged/dull. Not to mention the fact that it's obvious you've brought them from Bugis, because when looked with a critical eye, that $10 top you just brought? It looks the price you pay for, actually even cheaper. Who wants that?

Also. I feel like whatever is in trend, they catch on a bit too late. Thanks, but no thanks!

Bugis street can be said to be one of my least favourite shopping destinations, for the sole reason that it is very humid in the small area. The street has this ambiance of a small make shift shopping mall, somewhat like a double storey "pasar malam". It is fully sheltered none the less but getting to bugis street itself in rainy weather can be quite a problem especially when there are so many people squeezing around, making it almost impossible to stay dry although under a huge umbrella.

Most of the time, I would just drop by for a walk around but I certainly would not find myself popping by purposely. The items that are on sale range from clothing to accessories, to watches and there are even eateries in the small area. You would be surprised that the area is actually larger that it seems and it houses so many shops it gets dizzy. There are three levels in which it is really quite difficult to find escalators and stairs I would say because the shops are too cluttered around. Walking around, you would find that there are many things that are repeated. For instance the clothing around are usually about the same, mostly or the same type and design. The watch shops sells a range of watches that can be very cheap.

Although the things there are generally not to my preference, with the right amount of patience it is possible to find that one item that is a steal because there are actually some nice cheap items amongst all the typical common designs. However I would definitely not put myself through the pain of having to endure the suffocating walkways just to find that one piece of $5 item.
