Star Vista resembles the shape of Noah's Ark, a biblical reference to the flood scene in Christianity. This is also linked to New Creation Church that uses the Rock Auditorium, as it is named, there. Religion aside, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes available, as well as a famous grass jelly dessert franchise, BlackBall from Taiwan.
Getting to Star Vista is convenient, with a sheltered walkway leading from Buona Vista station. Upon entrance, the mall's size took me aback, and hygiene standards are high.
However, after entering, I felt there was nothing much to offer. I wouldn't travel to eat here, unless for lunch during work hours or school hours. Perhaps this is what the mall mainly caters to, with crowds usually from nearby junior colleges and universities, as well as mainly the working crowd.
I ate at a japanese restaurant, itacho sushi if I recall, and food was so-so. I prefer outlets such as Ichiban Boshi instead. Staff were also not helpful... was dissatisfied with service ):

I wonder how their electricity consumption is like?

I was at Star Vista for an interview last month. I met my interviewer at Brotzeist. I realised that the mall itself is not air conditioned though the shop units are.
That got my mind thinking, I suppose that with no air conditioning for the other parts of the mall, that would translate to lower electricity and maintenance costs which could translate to lower rentals for the tenants. But yet again, I forgot that we are in Singapore. You have to pay and pay.
I will be heading back there to explore further. Stay tuned.

Come on, how can a mall be non-airconditioned!
I'd been looking for an air-conditioned refuge after travelling for a pretty long time two weeks ago, and I was ecstatic to see a mall - The Star Vista, because that would probably have meant air-conditioning and shopping. Then I got closer, and all my hopes were dashed, because The Star Vista is, against basic logic and reasoning, non-airconditioned!
The shopping there isn't great either; There are hardly any fashionable shops in the mall, and it certainly did not manage to satisfy my shopping whims.
The Star Vista was pretty good for food though. There were several restaurants of various cuisines, and even a few dessert shops. Some of the restaurants there aren't exactly run-of-the-mill as they're not the sort that one usually sees in heartland malls. I particularly enjoyed a restaurant called Yomenya Goemon which served authentic Japanese pasta, and my dining experience there was pretty good.
However, I wouldn't want to come for lunch or dinner here during peak hours. I mean, can you just imagine having to queue for a restaurant in the open, without air-conditioning?
